I really appreciate you taking the time to perform this back to back in the same day! I'm very happy with how the inlet performed and the results are pretty much what I expected although I had no proof until now. The loss isn't actually as bad as I expected given the drastic change in runner size and length. For me the gains at the top more than outweigh the loss.
Excellent 👌 great content pal love the van cool build . Look forward to more from you and we all appreciate the time it takes to produce videos likes this thanks 😊 🚗💨💨💨
The length of the runners is a bigger factor than the volume of the plenum. The plenum in itself won't make it more laggy as such (not from additional volume), if you consider the volume in context of the flow rate it's negligible. Runners, fuel (charge cooling) effect from injector position is also a big factor hence engibes using staged injectors which are close to the valves for good atomisation & much further away for charge cooling. Have a watch of some of tge Richard Holdner videos, he has done a tonne on all aspects for NA & thrbo setups. They are actually way more similar than you'd think too....gains NA=gains turbo.
I totally agree the runner length is where the difference is. On my own car I made a new inlet with runners 3inches longer than the previous inlet. I didnt run back to back tests but there was a noticeable improvement on the road.
rather strange I posted a reply and it did not show here are some long intake runner lengths :-) drive.google.com/file/d/1XQO6O11PguQzn2OsMeaSwDbZGIfxJHaj/view?usp=sharing
It all depends on what you want from an engine ie drag or track etc .the zetec responds very well to long length runners like 9 inch long but not many people run them due to room in the engine bay. Shorter runners will normally deliver more power with less torque , longer runners slightly less low rev power but big improvements in torque. Zetecs as ive seen always seem to be lacking in torque and we all know that what wins races. Will gallops rallycross focus zetec turbo ran 9 inch runners and with a 34mm restrictor made 650bhp with very similar torque making a cracking engine.
Very cool stuff! I casually (banger-ish) race mondeos with these zetecs and despite running them basically stock (maybe getting 150-160hp tops) its amazing to see how much you can squeeze out of these things!
Damn shame you boys don't have e85 at the service stations like we have in aus. I'm running a potho ebay intercooler with 550bhp, i have a homemade manifolds which help.
@IgnitionAdvantages hi, I'm from Brazil, I wanted some tips about the zetec 1.8 16v how much torque the engine can handle and power, I'm building an escort rs turbo and we have almost no information about this engine
@@Whateverpoopiepants not on this engine but vvt on the exhaust cam is only really used for emissions there is a video on UA-cam of a guy tuning a 5pot turbo volvo engine with a maxecu and swinging the exhaust cam from one extreme to the other and it makes little to no difference to the power/spool

Hi I’ve messaged you on you instergram page I’m interested in one of these manifolds

Also Richard has a book all about the mk1 focus zetec. So this stuff has already been done.

Great video, thanks for taking the time to make and explain what's happening
Good to see more video comming out mate, I have a 4 month old
so know it’s how hard it would be to do UA-cam, respectful 👊🏻
Can’t wait to see what it produces when it’s tuned better!
Awesome video, keep it up and get the red mk2 sorted

How does one start mondeo banger racing haha
How are you getting 150-160hp from a standard 2.0 zetec?
a good start with that manifold, will be interesting when properly mapped up
what RPM do you set your limiter to
how is edd gasket these days
Looks good ..would like to see the results after all the mapping is tidied up and optimised. 👍
Nice, very interesting, can't wait for the next vid on this, thank you
Nice video and like the new inlet body 👍💯
Great video Clarke. 🤙🏼
air con in the Dyno room and a mist sprayer get it cold and damp in there
Looking good
Yea need a tune with inlet to see 🤙🏻🤙🏻

The runners on zac's manifold look to have shorter runners which would explain the difference in low down power.
Are you at santa pod for the finals this weekend?
Very interesting mate
Cracking test. Have you done much with the 1.7 puma engines?
It will be more driveable on the new inlet, less wheel spin in the mid range
Nice test!
Nice one 👍👍👍

Love the development of "uk" products..m mint vlog it now needs a proper road test on the bum dyno....m
That jag in the vid opposite your workshop … isit for sale!?
Interesting test, what turbo are you running and what compression ratio?
Psr 30.71.63 turbo. 8.2-1
@@ignitionadvantages6592 No wonder it wakes up so good, .63 housing. Good match for the zetec.
Do they make an svt or st170 version?
What happened to your red drag fiesta that was being space framed at the front?
How much influence can you have on that turbo coming up to speed by playing with the exhaust valve timing ?
Does not make as much difference as you would expect. The inlet cam plays a big part
@@ignitionadvantages6592
That’s interesting . Are you operating the cams electronically or with a vernier pulley situation ?

@@ignitionadvantages6592 thanks very much this is all fascinating ,
Ta for all the hard work doing the videos .
Take it on some road runs
Is this still on the Pulsar turbo?
Yea 😎
Hi!
