Ah, the Nexus 7. Brings back a lot of happy memories.
It was a great small tablet
miss my nexus 7, such a good device
Google should revive the Nexus brand.
The Nexus 7 2012 had great specs for the low price and at first was really fast but sadly became really slow after updates.
I am still using my Nexus 7! (2013 model) it is running Klipper for my 3D printers, lineageOS and it honestly works great
This is a great alternative to wireless charging, I'd love to see this in more devices
I foresee USB-C/lightning disappearing and being replaced by these pins, as long as data transfer works well.
iPad Magic Keyboard does the same, charging wise. But of course, it’s not included in the box!
So MagSafe?
@@harryflander6553 no
@@zydn No.
Nexus 7 was exactly what I was thinking of. It was cheap, pure Android experience, and absolutely awesome.
No way!!! this latest Google tablet made you think of a previous Google tablet? 😅
I had a nexus 7 in middleschool…good times
Until the deadly booting loops
Nexus 7 was the first and only tablet I bought then it died, now the iPad mini 6 is the perfect replacement…
Loved my Nexus 7, still have it somewhere. I carried that thing around in my back pocket, always wished for a 7-inch screen just like that with no bezels.
It's a great added value with the dock. Most of the time a tablet sits around not being used, so having it double as a smart display means you get more use out of it when it might normally be idle.
Yeah. Let's make sure that our devices really drain energy at all time, and stream as much as possible. Brilliant.
The savings from doing home automation outweighs an ambient display. This is geared to replace the hub, which synched all your smart home gadgets into one control panel.
$500 is a great value? a $100 amazon tablet, $1 tablet stand, and a $30 bluetooth speaker does the exact same thing.
@@Qudths ADDED value with the DOCK. I did not say the tablet is a great value, I said that getting a dock with software that makes it act as a smart speaker lets you do more with the tablet. Obviously anyone can buy cheap junk that will sort of work with enough duct tape, cords, and software hacks at doing...things.
@@Qudths Those all sound like they suck.
Yeah the dock idea might actually be the killer app moment for tablets and smart assistant devices. Love the thought of having this in the kitchen for recipes, but then being able to detach it for a kid or some light reading.
yeah that's how they always advertise the echo show devices, but the screen being detachable and being a usable tablet as well takes it to a whole other level. Wouldn't be surprised if within the year, amazon comes out with a similar device that merges their fire tablets and the echo shows.
well - it's two ways right - i wouldn't mind to detach my echo in the kitchen sometimes, but I'd freak out if someone left it somewhere and I can't just use it when walking in ... so not sure yet
Can't wait for apple to copy this feature in 3 years and seeing iSheeps collectively loosing their shit
That's what I'm thinking. My 6 yr old has a fire kids tablet but it's already 3 yrs old and he needs a newer device. But the docking feature is awesome. Just don't know if I trust him yet lol
@@sarthakjain1824 Magnetic wireless charging (MagSafe) came with iPhone 12. Google is the copycat, not Apple. In fact Android is a almost 1:1 copy of iOS. Every new Apple feature is one or two years later in Android. - Just not FaceID, seems not easy to copy without violating patenrs.
I use my tablet exactly how they described. It's always at my dinner table and from time to time we take it as a e-reader to the bed/around the house. And it's annoying to charge it every time, but with the dock it's not gonna be a problem, also speakers upgrade, why not? Thanks Marques for the quick introduction and Google for the clever idea!
Exactly, there are people who manage to work only with a tablet, but for everyone else, I think the idea is simple but perfect.
Almost certain that all other manufacturers will copy this idea (Apple and others)
At the dinner table?
You shouldn't be using these things in bed before you go to sleep.
@@plica06 what are you, a cop?
This is actually genius. Considered how many magnetic stands there are for iPads I'm surprised Apple didn't thought about this - would love it for podcasts with the better speaker, as alarm stand etc.
As an iPhone user, apple home kit and AI assistant is so far behind they shouldn’t even bother with this.
As a former pixel user, this product puts a smile on my face.
give it a few years they will do it and it will be "groundbreaking and new"
Hasn’t there been rumors and patents for three years that Apple had an IPad doc they were working on?
They will and also it will be sold separately
Give it three years and may come to iPad more refined.
This honestly sounds like a great idea! I have the original google home minis and was looking for nest hubs for the dining table. My mom has and love her pixel and i feel like this would be great for her for music, youtube videos while docked. The tablet version would be great for games for the kids or for her!
That dock is a nice idea but including it in the box is awesome! I guess you have to buy that case separately but the combination of a stand and the dock compatibility is really enticing, I have to say.
Case will be $80. I'm sure there will be similar 3rd party cases for half the price.
@@nitrologly you say this like they can't do the same exact thing through your phone
I'd rather pay $370 for the tablet and have the option to buy the dock separately personally. I have a Nest Hub in the kitchen, but would like a decent Android Tablet. I can see why they've done it though.
@@NathanBudd just get a samsung tablet
@@nitrologly dock doesn't have any functionality if you don't attach the tablet to it, it's just a brick without tablet, it doesn't even act as ok Google assistant speaker
Rather than a tablet, this is literally a detachable home dock. Not that it's bad, but it's really unique! It differentiates so much from other Android tablets and even iPad. Kudos to Google! 🎉
For $500 though?
It's also literally a tablet.
@@The86rick Now that ur saying that, it also could at least have bluetooth so u can listen to music from ur phone or smth
Brother, main matter is No one knows what to do with that tablet
If I didn't already own Google nest hubs, I would totally love this. I'm kind of blown away how long it took for this idea to materialize. They were like 50% of the way there with the Nexus 7 with the stand with the Pogo pins
Do your hubs work well? Our nest hub max is so glitchy. Replacing it with this is tempting.
@@entropy889 I have 2 Nest hubs, and they work just fine - I use one in the bedroom & one in the kitchen. I use them mainly to activate alarms & do google assistant stuff, doing it with the voice is sooo nice to have. I do wish they had an easier way to manually adjust the light to different scenes etc if you have Philip-hue like I do. I haven't really tried other features tho
@@entropy889 my nest hub minis are pretty glitchy. Like using an old phone past it's life time bloated with too many software updates
@@mattcy6591 ya my minis are pretty horrible but they where still Home Minis when I got them. But my Nest Hubs are all fine. Definitely getting the tablet tho too
What's the use for a nest hub?
I'm surprised this hasn't been done before, as it makes perfect sense. I have a top tier Samsung tablet, but I'm always setting it down to charge or putting it in a drawer and forgetting about it. As a tablet user, and Nest Hub owner, it makes perfect sense to merge the products as far as functionality.
They're not fully merged. Has no Thread or Matter functionality. Will need to keep your old Hub or have a Nest WiFi Pro.

I think that dock is an incredible idea and it being included in the box is massive, and the whole docking system gas got me thinking of other ways it could be used, i doubt it could happen but maybe like a car mount could be a thing? Like you set it up in your car, then you take your tablet, attach it to this dock and enable "car mode" or something which then turns it into an android auto display
That’s a great idea.
Good idea, but the magnets (probably on the dock-side) are not strong enough to hold it in place when driving.
A new Nexus 7 would be perfect for this
GET THIS ON THE GOOGLE FORUMS NNNNOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
Genius!
I dig it. I had a 2012 Nexus 7 and this gives me similar vibes in some ways, especially in terms of the value. It's nice to see Google actually optimizing apps for tablets again because ultimately that stands to benefit the rest of the Android tablet market as well.
The fact that google hasn’t optimized there apps for 10 years says enough meanwhile
on the iPad google was optimizing there apps
@@lesleyhaan116 True that. They saw a lot more purpose in catering to the iPad because it has been the de facto tablet choice since the days of the Nexus 7.
Honestly this seems like a fantastic tablet offering. Most of what most people do with a tablet is watch things, maybe a little bit of email and some video calling. Not in the market for a tablet but sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
I wonder if it would work well for students?
@@bkj848 I don't think it has a stylus support, so not really. It could be used for textbooks maybe?
@@bkj848 Good point. I really value the pencil on my iPad for taking notes, but I don’t recall him mentioning anything about a pencil? So that might be an issue for students
No it's not. Not even close. The CPU/GPU performance is around 60% of apple, 65% of snapdragon, basically this would be similar to mediatek. Lenovo makes mediatek tablet for 260 with oled screen. Definitely way overpriced tablet.
Tablets are supposed to be more powerful than phones but android manufacturers don't get it. Look at apple, it's more powerful than the iphone, a phone should be basic not tablets
International viewers might find it interesting to know that this tablet, priced at $499 (or about £400) has been listed at £599 in the UK, which converts to about $750(!).
So it seems like Google is intentionally subsidising its efforts in the US markets and not making that same effort to compete elsewhere.
internationally oneplus pad is a better deal and actually costs 500 usd. only thing missing is the stand which idk if anyone cares about
£400 + 20% VAT = £480
Even with VAT, UK electronics are more expensive, mainly because companies feel like it
Well thats a day one flop.. aint nobody paying 599 🤣
google enjoy shafting the UK
US prices don't include taxes
This dock has some serious potential. Not sure if it can be done but they can create mini-speakers that attach so you can still use the device handheld and have a better sound or create a bigger base that connects to the rest of the Google smart speakers around the house.
I'd really love it if they open it to third party creators so we can have some new ideas (and cheaper alternatives)
What about being able to connect to the dock speaker with Bluetooth?
@@samanthavanwinkle4630 thats what i was going to say lol
I hope they have spell check on it
Will the dock work as a nest speaker without the tablet? For using as another voice assistant, or for using speaker groups?
If you can’t use it as a voice controlled speaker without a tablet, and if someone was using the tablet in another room, it might get really annoying
Google has stated they r looking at rolling out an update to let the dock operate as a smart speaker but nothing firm on that. Does the dock have a microphone ? Hmm
Would be nice if they develop more mounting options, like a wall mount, a car mount (dashboard and/or chair) and more...🤩
Hopefully third-party manufacturers are able to provide these options. At the very least there's going to be some great DIY / 3D print stuff created. 🤞

I was never in the market for a tablet until now. I love my Google Nest and use it daily, I can see myself adding this tablet to my home office. Truly awesome
Will they launch a compatible pen and a keyboard cover as well? That will be a game changer. Also i hope they improve the display quality in the future.
agreed i hope they can add portrait and a book cover and its a deal!
I'm hoping so, just because I currently use a Galaxy Tab S4 but hate the way One UI looks compared to Android's stock UX! (Not to mention Samsung features replacing stock Android features outright and messing with some third-party apps)
Mostly not, google is trying to make this simple
It has full USI 2.0 and capacitive stylus support. So if you want a pen, you can get a 3rd party option (just make sure it's using the same tech!)
Why do tablets always need smart pens? We’ve had devices that support a dumb stylus perfectly well for over a decade…
Honestly this tablet looks really great. I'm very much a Google person and seeing them complete the "Pixel Circle" (having pretty much all kinds of devices made by Google) is really exciting. Also, seeing Good Faith at 4:42 was surprising until I remembered you're a fellow Madeon fan! Excellent choice bro :)
I'm excited too but I'm also anticipating next year to be even better. Good start nonetheless.
I'll be right back, just taking my fish for a walk.

Is Marques hiding a kidnapped asian family in his basement?
I think this is an amazing idea. I often struggle with justifying buying a tablet because I don't use them every day. That said I have 2 hub displays, if they were also a tablet I could pick up when needed that would be awesome.
You are obviously a UA-cam user, what more do you need to justify buying a tablet?
@@ukaszChorazy People can consume UA-cam on a phone or laptop. lol. Isn't this obvious?
Would you rather get this over an iPad?
Three mkbhd videos in a week
What did we do to deserve this 😊
It looks like Google announced a bunch of new things.
Who is we?
I literally have no real use for tablets, but if more tablets started doing this sort of thing where you could dock it and use it as a hub and use it as a speaker/control for your smart home, then i'd start to be interested. I'd love to see more company's implement this idea
I believe it would be very great for example those car panels that looks like tablets
This would be a good fit for people are the type not to have a TV in their house. Yes they do exist. Have a friend that because she has several mobile electronics doesn't have a need for a main TV.
@@amagine1 I myself barely use the tv of my house. Only to play videogame, and i am even considering to buy a projector for it. anyway, if not to play games or watch movies, I dont have the need of a tv. Acuatlly, I would like to control my tv through tablet and phone
I think most companies do have that already. It's really just a wireless and more powerful Nest Hub, Echo Show or just like an iPad setup as a Home Hub. Most are obviously hardwired or require their own docking but practically it's the same implementation really.
I think with Home automation this approach is the way to go .... affordable tablets to use accross the house for home automations plus normal things you do with a tablet. Could you include the sound quality of the dock in the next reivew ;)
Looking forward to the full review of this tablet. Been wanting a tablet for a while now and been looking at the iPad Air 5th gen, but really love the fact that this dock as a google home.
I have the iPad air 5th gen I really love it. This tablet looks really nice though.
Really happy to see it has an LCD, not worried about OLED burn for an always-on display on a hub. Hoping that there's some work done on the battery so it doesn't quickly burn itself out if docked long-term.
Honestly I really love this. I have my iPad on a stand and a Nest Hub Max on my desk. This seems like a great solution to merge those together. Two things I would love to see with a 2nd version would be the ability for portrait mode on the dock, as well as a stylus of some sort. The Apple Pencil is kickass and adds a lot to the iPad. I don't know the technical considerations that need to be taken for magnetic data/power pins, but if they could be organized in a square rather than a straight line, that could allow for both orientations too.
It has stylus support actually!
It looks like it's meant for home automation. Would be great if you can show all the other home devices it can be integrated with. It also looked like it's using the Matter protocol, would be great to hear your thoughts on it.
I had to get one. Pre-ordered mine on Thursday and I'm super excited for the day it arrives. Had to go with Hazel. I plan on using it exactly what it was designed for.

Can't wait for the full review. I'd love to see how well the USI support works for note taking and sketching. Not expecting Apple Pencil performance, but hoping the Pixel Tablet could function as a digital notepad.
Thanks!
Same, I even I hope in the future to make a keyboard Folio as well
They should make it to where when you dock it, it also automatically casts the audio to other Google speakers. This could be totally configurable and optional.
There's a section in their FAQ stating that's not a feature they're supporting
@@johnnypopstar It's really unfortunate, but if I remember correctly that was due to some patent issues with Sonos
When it comes to the full review, I'd be really interested to see how modifiable this thing's software is. Pixel devices are known for being able to run custom ROMs really well, and this -- as well as build quality, and software updates -- is something that in tablets has always been missing. This is pretty much why I've opted for an iPad instead. As locked down as it may be, Apple's devices are all really well-made. The software is great, and the level of streamlining.. man, it feels so much like a bigger iPhone. The software is so consistent, and regularly updated. But I want this to be dethroned. I want to let my inner geek out again on my devices. If this Pixel tablet can do that, it's sold to me.
My original Pixelbook is still in heavy use despite being carried across the Pacific over a dozen times and through customs three times that many times.
This looks incredible, and I think it's a great addition to the perpetually proliferating Pixel Portfolio of perfection.
Nice alliteration
@@gbird5000 Thanks, I was waiting for that 😂

I have preordered the Pixel Tablet, mainly because of the hub concept. I think that Google nailed it, but of course we will see how good this device really is when it arrives
Another great video as always! Personally, I feel like the tablet was the most interesting/exciting hardware product at I/O. I feel like it's pretty safe and I think it could definitely sell well. The 7a is also nice, but it's essentially just a Pixel 7 in different skin now, they're so close in price. The Fold probably has an uphill battle though... 😐
yeah they've made the the a series just like samsung does fe
This video isn't great it's normal !
it is the first iteration of the fold, it's more for Google to learn from than sell super well
@@nazim-hv Some people just have to kiss ass.
The fold will almost certainly sell better. A lot of people really like foldables and they want a foldable from a company that isn’t Scamsung. This is just an overpriced nest hub. This costs more than better Android alternatives which can just run a launcher (not even a ROM) to do all this, and still costs around the same as the M1 iPad Air right now. Reminder that that tablet is literally just a beast.
All of the tech information and all yes but also MKBHD having Taylor's version on playlist! ♥️
Already pre-ordered, but for your main review I'm mostly just interested in how well it functions as a Nest Hub Max replacement and how the dock speakers sound comparatively.
Nice to see so much Google coverage from you . Please do more of this.
Now if there was a Google stylus, I would 100% replace my iPad mini and pencil for the Pixel tablet as my dedicated note taker. And I'd finally have a complete Google ecosystem (P7 Pro, Buds, Watch, and Tablet)
You can use supported ones
I'm on the google eco system still powering through with a Pixelbook Go. Cannot wait for this tablet to complete the set
@CJJK Well "more expensive" but it also comes with a speaker doc. And as an Android guy, it'd be nice to have a cohesive ecosystem. My wife loves everything Apple, so I'd just give her my iPad. I love it too, but I love new tech just a little more 😂
It supports USI pens, there just isn't an official Google one. You can find good ones for about $50 though.
Which watch are you using? I tried Android Watch from Fossil. It looked great, functionality was good, but the battery... After a year of daily usage, it got to the level when it couldn't hold the battery even for 3 hours :(
I love that you showed Madeon during your demo.
They won me over with the magnetic dock and ring stand! I already use a metal ring and a magnet mount on my desk to hold my Pixel phone; sounds like an upgrade
If I was still in the Google Eco System, with Google Home and a Pixel Phone this would definitely be something for me. I really like the functionality of it being able to mimic a nest hub. Great product and good review :)
What eco system you in now?
Pre-ordered instantly being very pleased the dock was included. It's going to replace an older 5" hub and an old macbook, I've never liked multi-monitor gaming setups, so it's going to be mostly used for looking up stuff while gaming, and also music while working I think. Hopefully the concept works, as they *could* later release a high-end tablet that's still compatible with the dock.
After using the Lenovo P10 for a couple of years, Im glad to see that theres an upgrade path for me. Ive enjoyed the P10 even though its EXTREMELY buggy where it wont even connect to the dock. Ive been waiting on an update for this since its announcement and will definitely be purchasing.
Yes, definitely lucky for us to be getting 3 videos in one week. Kudos to the team especially to Mariah and Ellis if they are cranking all these out. Wonder if anyone on The Studio team will get this? I'm guessing Andrew will for sure.
The price is surprisingly good and the fact that the dock is included makes me really tempted to buy it! Kudos to google
The color temperature sensor on the Nest Hub is a really neat feature, so I hope the tablet has it too. I'd also like to know what the minimum screen brightness is. The Nest Hub display gets shockingly dark when it's in a room with no light.
Looks like it does when he docked it the colours muted to the surroundings. I love that feature too.
Hey MBKHD! When are you gonna review the new flagship of Motorola (Edge Ultra-Fusion). I love your videos! Keep with them!.
This looks like a great replacement for my old tablet and home hub. I'll definitely get one
I think google watched your podcast on the pixel tablet. They fixed most of the things you were hoping for. The case is especially a great solution for the problem that you mentioned that you don't take it out of the folio case every time you want to dock it.
Love your reviews. Would be good to know if this can also be used in an office productivity type setting, for things like Teams/Zoom calls for example.
I've been waiting for the release of a tablet from Google for a long time ! Finally he came out. I ordered it without hesitation and can't wait to test it on my channel as well. It's going to be an amazing unboxing 😍
This is actually pretty awesome. I have a mini hub in each room currently and have been waiting for something like this. Awesome that you can buy the bottom separate as well.
Sick. I love the hub mode + tablet design. Ill buy it when it goes on sale for $349~
This is brilliant from Google. A detachable google hub max. Me likey! I use my hub max a lot for calls and media consumption. So, having the flexibility to unmount and carry it anywhere is slick plus them including the dock with the tablet is also pretty sweet! I like this! Looking forward to a full review!
Ooo the dock is so nice! Very nice for watching videos or reading, no extra stand needed.
For the price of the dock alone, I would definitely get the tablet bundle 🙃
Thanks for this information man. Loving this. And it comes with a speaker!!!

Got one preordered. Excited to see if it can accomplish both uses as a tablet and for me an even more important piece is to act as a Google Home hub.
The original Nexus 7 (there was one more Nexus 7 after it)is still being used by many car enthusiasts an entertainment hub/media center 🙂 That was one solid tablet!
I'm digging the low price. It's definitely not a high-end device but for slapping on a counter and forgetting about it, a killer price.
@@Enxuvjeshxuf lol exactly, the price is absolute lunacy for a jumped up amazon echo, looks terrible, will be DOA
Why would you spend $500 on something to just forget about it. I agree this is what Google hopes people do with this though. The reason most tablets never leave to home is because people simply don't use them.
I love this. I love a nice dock for a tablet. This is exactly the kind of thing I wanted for my ipad and couldn't find. I dont at all need another tablet, but I hope this kind of thing becomes a more common thing so I can get one in the future. This is great design.

I would like to hear about the speaker quality of the Tablet and the dock. Maybe how the dock is constructed with passive radiators.
I think google knocked it out of the park on this one. The stand is a genius idea and the fact that it's included makes it that much better.
The docking of this tablet is genius! Pretty good value overall! People should see this as detachable Nest Hub instead of a tablet. Will highly consider it in the near future

2:22 Google: 80% of tablet use happens in the home
MKBHD: So for that other 20% of the time when it's sitting around the house you can put it on a dock.
Even the best of us, even MKBHD, can lack comprehension sometimes 😅
For those who don't understand, Google meant that 80% of time you are using your tablet in your house and 20% outside of your house. At IO, they even expanded on that and said that it remains dormant in the house for long stretches of time.
MKBHD is a swiftie 7:11
I like the concept! Well thought, and I can see they clearly studied the users.
I said it many times already and share the same opinion still now. No matter how good Android tablet‘s hardware is going to be, the lag of many high-quality apps (especially 3rd party) makes it useless. Only if you need it for basic tasks it‘s considerable but even then i‘d have ask why you wouldn‘t choose iPad with all the software advantages. Other tablets may also have a pencil but not any other has so many high quality apps that support it
lol. Sometime I'm flabbergasted by how clueless you youtuber commenters are. The purpose of this tablet is to be a home assistant and a tablet for a family to use around the house. That is the use case. It's not intended to compete with iPad with high end apps. You understand this right? Please tell me you're smarter than this. This is just a tablet you use around the house and maybe give to your kids to consume media. You don't need high end apps to do that. 🤦♂
I'm definitely getting one for myself. I'm happy that Google is finally getting recognition for their great products. It took them a while but the products that they're releasing are great. I'm in the market for a tablet and i just found my next tablet!

I’m never amazed by google products but I love their pricing. It’s so reasonable lol I want this just because I want a bigger google home and to be able to use it as a tablet that’s dope
yes, 679€ is very reasonable for 60Hz
@@UltraHQ It is reasonable given the dock is included in the box. The iPad Air is more expensive and is 60hz also, and has no dock
@@liam2 of course the ipad is more expense, apple is always expensive.
but 679€ for 60Hz is not OK at all in my opinion. this is bullshitting, the us pays 499$ and we pay more.. for less features? (things like direct my call, hold for me, auto call screen is not available in the eu.)
A pretty good and fair description of the product, answered my questions too, good job
I had an iPad for about a year. As impressive as it was I don't think I'll ever invest in another tablet unless the hardware is the absolute best and fastest. The reason being is between my laptop and phone I never really needed the tablet with all it offered. I think it all boils down to what you become adjusted to first.
Yup i dont do tablets because it does the same thing my phone does but its bigger. I just give the tablet to the kids
The only real use case for tablet if you draw a lot ( as an artist)
I use my iPad for lots of things, including reading/sending emails quickly, playing chess, watching a video wherever I am, including in bed, so I guess it boils down to the users out there. I wouldn't be able to do the things I do with my tablet if I had just a phone and laptop. So, I like this Pixel, though I would like it to have a pen/stylus for drawing etc, so maybe not for this iteration, but the initial design is very much appealing, and I prefer Android to Apple any day.
I’m definitely thinking of getting one. I want to know how well it works as a smart home controller when docked.
Just as good as your cell phone.
I.... can't believe how badly I want this. (and I don't even know why lol )
I use my iPad for note taking, pdf annotation, textbook reading, and occasionally zoom calls. This seems like a great offering as a family tablet but isn't anywhere near the functionality of the $300 base ipad (+$100 pencil that is mandatory for my use case)
I preordered one yesterday. I've been wanting one since it was teased and the pricing is pretty hard to beat with what you get. It seems to me that the only real "lacking" feature might be the screen's refresh rate. I'm planning on using this as an all around media and work device (I don't need to do anything super intensive just spreadsheets and pdfs for the most part but editing photos while im out and about through lightroom will be nice im sure.) I'd definitely like to see an all angles sort of review looking at every possible use case and see how it stacks up.
For an extra 100-200 dollars or pounds you could get an iPad pro 11 or 12.9 for that price. I personally wouldn't resale will hold bad value and iPad os for all its problems has more apps.
Ordered one! Love the dock concept. Apple will definitely be selling one soon
They might as well. HomePods are a flop. iPads are better than anything android can offer, if they include this with the cheap base model iPad and compatibility with Air and Pro iPads going forward they can redeem the HomePod.
And claiming they invented it
Something to keep in mind is that the speaker doesn't work as a standalone speaker with the tablet off as of now. I don't know if they'll update it or something in the future but yeah. Not sure why Marques didn't mention that in the video.
@@_yujin_ because it's a dock. Not a speaker. It's literally in the name, mate.
@@DarkZoomy sorry to correct- but there are docks with speakers and displays that work without your phone/tablet actually being docked in the device...
Like if you're playing music from a docked phone and remove it...
It doesn't stop the music.
I would hope to know how the usage will be for students. Stylus, using note apps like onenote, and also the flexibility of using keyboards with it.
It'll be good to get a cheaper, sustainable tablet as a student, you know?
I think this will be terrible for stylus-heavy use. You'd be better off with one of cheaper Samsung tablets that actually have a stylus as a selling point. S-pens are tried and tested Wacom tech in terms of reliability, precision and usability, and Samsung's OSes have actual stylus-friendly features.
Third-party pens that the tablet wasn't purpose-built for are super jank because there's so much engineering that needs to go into the digitizer for it to be usable for something as precision- and latency- sensitive as handwriting. I've tried the pens that are just an afterthought feature and they are just absolutely unusable unless the shape you want to make is the size of almost half the screen. Do not waste your money on imagined quality regarding this aspect, especially as Google has never had a track record of ever building good stylus support on any product. It's not a quality a device can accidentally have. If they put in the work to make styluses function decently, you can bet that they'd market it heavily.
Even the Microsoft Surface pens aren't known to be the absolute top quality, but it's very usable and they still had to design their pen tech with purpose.
Very obviously that is not the intended use of this tablet. It's a Google home with a detachable screen not something to take to school.
To answer your question, I'd like to see the Pixel Tablet compared to performance of high end and equivalent price point. See how well it shapes up, I get the impression it will beat most/all - especially with the dock and everything else that brings.
In Europe this will be 680, so not a bargain at all, while the Pixel 7A will be 508 EUR. Strange pricing by Google.
Thought the same. 500 € would be a steal
Especially since the euro is up on the dollar again. Can't believe Taxes are THIS high
@@DerNesor They just price it lower in US. That's how Google operates.
@@ndavid7307 and apple
@@ndavid7307 Yea, but the odd thing is the Pixel 7a is way cheaper in EU even though the dollar price is the same.
wouldn't mind a mini version
ive been waiting for them to do this. the hub always seemed like a waste with its lack of tablet functions. and tablets often get just sat around not being used if you have access to a larger screen. this is a great combo
Same here. As soon as I turned the nest hub max on I wanted to pick it up and be able to walk around with it. Glad to see they made it possible!

Great video. I use my tablet mostly to take notes at school so I'd love it if you could check that in your full review and see if this tablet will have a keyboard accessory
