I hope this comparison of the iPad 10 and the Pixel Tablet was helpful. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about?
As an Android and Google home user I wouldn't waste my money on a product that will not fully utilize the rest of my existing ecosystem... So the obvious choice is the pixel tablet.
Reasonable and fair comparison. One advantage of the 2x3 aspect ratio on the iPad is that it matches the aspect ratio of most digital and film cameras(not micro 4/3). If you are a photographer and want to use it to show your pictures without any black bars or cropping the ends it is perfect.
Interesting point, for traditional(?) photography, 3x2 is an advantage. Although I believe the iPad is actually 59x41 aspect ratio, meaning it still shows black lines on the top and bottom (unless the iPad crops the image to fit, which a photographer probably would not like). Still, a 3x2 photo will be slightly bigger on the iPad but with slightly less resolution than the Pixel. On the other hand, the Pixel format is better for video. Video size will be both a little bit bigger and have higher resolution.
The one issue I have with the Pixel Tab over the iPad is the long term hardware and OS support. Google has a habit of launching tablets and computers, and then backtracking and dropping them.
it's 6 years of OS updates for the iPad (no guarantee but it seems to have become a standard with the base iPad) and 5 years of security (with 3 OS updates) for the pixel. On Android a lot of people don't care about OS upgrades since appl compatility is much longer than on iPad.
Great review/comparison! We know the work that goes into these.🙂The hub mode is an important factor for many in the Google ecosystem. Many may be upgrading from the Nest Hub Max (a few years old now) with a larger display and portability of a tablet. Both Ipad and Pixel Tablet are very good devices for what the average user is looking to do.
Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison review. Although I confess that I basically don't ever want to own another iPad, it nice to see how other tables compete against the market leader. I just don't like iOS, and find Android a better workflow for me. God bless,
This is the best review of the Pixel Tablet I have seen so far. Other reviews just say "it only has a 60 Hz Display, the speakers are bad, and it's expensive, so it's a bad tablet". But here I have heard a lot of new things. The battery life is superb, the display is as good as the iPad 10s but in addition the pixels display is better for writing. The pixel tablet also has better speakers and more storage. That makes the pixel tablet sound much better. Now I am wondering what the other reviewers were thinking? Did they just forget how "bad" the normal iPad 10 is?
I have this situation: I am a singer & photographer I have a really old iPad (all my ecosystem is iOS) I used to use it for karaoke & to showed my portfolio. I feel like I don’t need a lot but the Pixel sound better this time but also the iPad 10th would be nice 😅
To summarize the comparison, he's basically saying the ipad has a its ecosystem. Which, isn't really an advantage anymore for Google, as they're building a fascinating ecosystem that still works with non-Google android friendly products. Im definitely getting that Pixel Tablet 🔥.
I'm very glad to see this shift in the position of the front camera to the long edge. Seems like it's becoming the norm in the industry now. I had expected apple to stubbornly hold out with their portrait orientation but I'm happy to be wrong.
@@vehzee I’ve heard that. But presumably because the components for the pen charging are in there. It will be interesting to see if they resolve that on future models.
@@dennistetrault9832the apps work just fine. Each android product works in the background to optimize all apps functionality, uniquely, some do a better job than others. Still more power in it than a closed system.
Just a correction, the Pixel Tablet really only gets two years of software updates if you don’t count Android 14 that arrives next month. So iPad get 2-3X more updates. The Pixel gets 5 year of security updates. It is an easy choice; if you want a tablet then buy the iPad (or a Galaxy Tab S8), but if you want a home hub replacement then the Pixel may be a viable option. I have zero interest in the hub as the speaker having limited use as it is not Bluetooth. Add the fact that outside the US, the dollar price of the Pixel is $750 (including taxes) then the alternatives become even more interesting. NB I also have seen the Tensor 2 benchmark quite low and wonder if Google are using lesser chips or throttling? Its performance matching 5-year-old Apple chips is puzzling.
Don't think the iPad has a better camera there are more megapixels put megapixels aren't everything aperture etc and post processing. I've seen pictures from both and the pixel is a lot better
Another great comparison. In spite of the fact I'm happily locked into the Apple ecosystem (I think that qualifies me as a "sheeple") I really like what Google did with that Pixel tablet. However, I think once the novelty of the speaker stand wore off the device would see little use.
I got an ipad air 4 a while back, and that pixel dock is exactly the kind of thing I'd hoped to find for it. But there's nothing, even from 3rd party manufacturers. Apple put in those power pass through points but nothing utilises them except the magic keyboard! It's such a waste!
@@OmegaSoypremeI use mine for Lightroom and editing works great. I have the iPad air 4. Got a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard for it. I'm not spending $200+ on a special keyboard just because it's apple branded.
I find it hard to believe there's a single buyer out there trying to decide between the Pizel or the iPas. At this point pretty much everyone is either in the Android ecosystem or the Apple one. I still watch the videos. It's fun to see how the two handle different things (I'm surprised Apple doesn't laminate the iPad). It was just an observation.

Seriously, I'm not a fan of Apple, but I'd rather buy an iPad Air 4 + Google Home Mini, or a Galaxy Tab S8 + Google Home Mini. Ps: because, unless I missed something, I don't see what the hub option of Google's tablet does more than the Standby mode of iPads or the Daily Board mode of Galaxy Tab 🤷🏽♂️
