The best chance of a stable post-apocalyptic America is in strong local factions with good morals that work together with their neighbors. We’re always shown in the games how massive nations inevitably face the same issues as pre-war America did like resources and bureaucracy. Little groups like the Minutemen, an Independent Vegas, the Responders (rip) and Lyon’s Brotherhood let the locals develop enough resources to sustain themselves without being harassed by raiders or larger factions.
Reminds me of the We Are The Minutemen mod. It spawns Minutemen patrols along your settlement trade routes and ties their weapon loadouts to your level. If you add the Militarized Minutemen, it adds Power Armor troops and settlement guards. The two are compatible, too. Add Sim Settlements and your settlements are essentially self-building and maintaining. Add the Enclave Officer mod Select Start (I forget the exact name) and pick Enclave Officer as your origin to complete the experience.

Preston would be better as the new Minutemen General and an NPC quest giver. At least his actions would make more sense that way. Or if "General" seems like too much of a stretch, have him start as a reluctant Captain, with the Sole Survivor as his field agent/ambassador. By the time of invading the Institute, he's matured, more confident and when the Survivor starts a rallying cry to promote him to General, the other Minutemen leaders agree, and he relents. You could even have two quest chains. One where he has you investigate previous Minutemen bases (instead of Founding Settlements) to see if they're still active and he slowly realizes he needs to step up as you discover each one abandoned or struggling. The second quest chain is you earning the trust of the various settlement leaders (ex-minutemen instead of generic settlers) and getting them to work together again.

I mean that is kinda there for the minuteman already. They have a distinct look with the funny hats and often will have that minutemen outfit with the like beige coat. Gotta remember they go from literally like 1 dude to potentially rebuilding the entire commonwealth extremely fast. I like the idea of the Minutemen evolving into what is basically JUST the NCR’s military, leaving the politics to the local settlements because they have no intention of being involved with them. I have not made a mod with these uniforms and this is Arma 3 so it would be on the Workshop.
I had no idea it was Arma 3. Either way it looks really good. I would love to see your work in Fallout 4 someday.
As a retired Marine, I really dig it.
@@philg8994 Glad you enjoyed it man.

Nah, just for fun
