    • @MikeBrown-go1pc
      @MikeBrown-go1pc 5 років тому +65

      No, the Enclave has been destroyed 3 separate times. Chicago area would more than likely be controlled by the midwest BOS from Fallout Tactics. Ceaser even said the legion ran into them when you talk to him in FONV. Sierra Bravos are just some unbelievable OP enemy made up by Bethesda so they didn't have to have NPCs. They should definitely stay in FO76.

      @Tagan Reaper I had thought Richardson said all of the Enclave were on the oil rig and at the base. How big could a covert criminal element of the prewar US government have been? So Bethesda wanted them in FO3 because they are cool and did a bad job of writing them in....OK, it worked... kind of. They need to stop though. The pre war US government and military is gone. The Enclave has been destroyed 6 ways from Sunday and any attempt by Bethesda to bring them back in force would be an assult on intelligent FO fans. What you see in FONV is what Enclave would look like. A few elderly people or their children with advanced PA Mk. II or Hellfire and a plasma rifle. A FEW ! A side story at most.
      They are not on the moon or in Africa. They were a small group of disgusting government and corporate officials with brainwashed "yes men" as an army. They are dead and their cause was flawed and defeated....and a lie The remaining people don't even think the Enclave cause was just and would tell their children that the Enclave was evil.

    • @spacemarinechaplain9367
      @spacemarinechaplain9367 5 років тому +16

      Mike Brown I’m pretty sure the prewar government was all infiltrated by the future Enclave.

    • @MikeBrown-go1pc
      @MikeBrown-go1pc 5 років тому +11

      @ Space Marine Chaplin It's entirely possible, but you are talking about 545 house reps and senators. Most of the wheels that make government turn are regular people who think the government is good. If those tens of thousands of people find out the people at the top are not good, there is a good chance that there will be problems. So, the covert criminal element of the government and corporations would have to kind of keep it under raps which would limit their over all numbers in the future. Plus, they don't want anything to do with mutated people post-war, so there is no way for them to grow that large again.. All the brainwashed troopers they had were killed in the west by NCR and BOS, killed by BOS on the east coast twice, are elderly or have died of old age. We see in FONV that the former Enclave are not even considering trying carry the torch. They were pee-ons and some of them didn't like what the Enclave was doing anyway.
      It's kind of like the Nazi Germans making a comeback. They had one crack at doing what ever it is they were trying to do, but were destroyed and will never come back in force as the Third Riech. Some got away. Hell, Hitler may have even got away. People know about them though, know they were a flawed idea and they could never gain the support needed to be any kind of actual threat as the same grey coats and Nazi flag.
      Enclave- "a portion of territory within or surrounded by a larger territory whose inhabitants are culturally or ethnically distinct. " So, the very definition of "Enclave" means it is something small inside of something much larger and different than itself. As Alex Jones would put it "A small covert, criminal element inside the US government." They are dead and the gig is up. Everyone knows they are evil. They tried to kill everyone... twice!

    My God. This was so f*ckin' sad! The entirety of it! I remember when I was young and just vaguely understanding fallout 1 & 2 and as this entire story plays out I just keep thinking back. About how mysterious the BoS seemed then and how the graphics and art of that time made me feel. It was like that pixley style was part of the lore. It made the games atmosphere. It makes me feel so sad to think how long ago it was that this happened and went down (in the story). I so wish to see how this story all played out. It would be so amazing and sad! This was really intense and sad to sit through but what made me get all teary-eyed was the last few seconds of you fighting the Bravos at one of the sites without saying anything and that sorrowful music playing... All I could think of was what their last thoughts must have been seeing all those SB's. The final moments for each member and how this was, in a sense, at the beginning of the entire fallout franchise.. I wish there were survivors... :'''(

      A lot of the factions are localised. The ones that are present in multiple areas are generally antagonistic; like the Enclave.
      The Brotherhood is certainly more of a mixed bag. Their condemnation of Ghouls and their tendency to fall into zealotry & autocracy is their bad side. They do have a better side; putting down Ferals and hostile super-mutants, saving tech. They are complex, which makes them useful for stories.
      The Railroad is too focused, the NCR is tied to it's territory, the Legion is barely above a raider army, the Minutemen are localised is too weak until you build it up (and is tied to the Commonwealth), the Insitute & the Enclave are explicitly intended to be evil...
      The Brotherhood can be good or bad depending on their leadership's position.

It is just sad that this rich piece of lore is so hidden away (it was almost the last place I found on the whole map). I think you have done a superb job at bringing this very interesting story to light. One of the best stories of Fallout 76, most definitely.

Any of these pre Navy Seal UDTs are considered Navy Seals. Don't ever think that no one would be greedy or corrupt without oil. The people that really run shit in the world will take us on anything. There was oil in FO world. They didn't go full nuclear until after 2050 because oil was starting to run out. So that is over 100 years after WWII that they were running on oil.
      What ever resourses or rare earth minerals there are that everyone needs or wants, you can be sure that people will want to control, steal and profit off of them so they are rich well beyond imagination.
      Who ever has you believing that oil is this root of all evil probably owns massive shares in the nuclear or renewable resourse industry or both. Probably the same people with the most shares in the oil corporations.
      Also, not every single thing with the time split is set in stone, this is why Bethesda will only say "WWII happened," because they don't want to lock themselves down to things like ...There was no Delta, Green Berets or Navy Seals among a million other things. 50s culture

    I feel sorry for Maxson, his dream was a good one, one where people should be able to get along and treat everyone fairly, but over time and some bad eggs, it became rotten. Instead of a symbol of hope as he liked, it became one of fear and hatred you could say. As the Brotherhood took things from people from, killing those who were different and stood in their way, just like the Raiders. It really is a shame. Sure to some they were hope, but for those who were fighting to stay alive for another day, they were just like another Raider Group, taking things that don't belong to them by force.

It was Maxson's hopes and dream to make a better place for the future, but instead, because of certain events and actions of others, whilst some people see them as hope, others fear them because they act like raiders instead of people meant to protect as Manson hoped for? We have seen many of their actions that leads us to see them like raiders, taking food and such by force.

    This was the epic story of the Brotherhood in Appalachia I’ve been waiting for. With all its far flung lore, I wasn’t sure how Ox was going to pull it off. But he managed it! Imagine how different it would have been had the Responders, Fr͏e͏e States, and Brotherhood formed a war council to combat the scorched. But alas, they did not.
    It’ll be interesting to see if this faction gets reintroduced with Wastelanders. Maybe a BoS deserter comes back, after the scorched threat has settled. Maybe there are other BoS secrets in the area to unlock. Maybe a separate group went dark to provide a continuity contingency. All I know is I keep doing the Forbidden Knowledge quest so I can try and get the higher end BoS T-60 paint scheme. I’m currently stuck on BoS Knight.

    Ox, awesome work as always. I would never have found the cave at the start, so looking forward to a trip to the Divide in the next few days. Quick suggestion: it would be really cool if you could do a timeline video of major events in appalachia prior to the opening of Vault 76. I think a lot of players know some of the major points, but don't have a holistic picture of how the events are tied up. How all these parallel groups (Responders, BoS, Raiders, FS, Enclave) all emerge from the Ashes of nuclear Armageddon to how they all meet their demise one by one. Would complement the individual faction videos nicely. :)

  • @Riftocity
    @Riftocity 5 років тому +15

    This video helps me understand the BoS a bit more. Just enough more to hold a new perspective of them across all the games, especially Fo4. Their cause seems a little less arrogant now, although they themselves don't understand the full extent of their goals, I now do. This greatly helps with roleplay factor as I won't have sympathy for any "abominations" while being a member of the BoS. This also greatly helps solidify the fact the default Sole Survivor Nate would join the BoS due to his Pre-war Army experience, and default Nora as Rail Road due to her background as a lawyer and fighting for equal rights, definitely seeing the humanity in a synth. Great video, and a definite help personally.

    • @courier8365
      @courier8365 4 роки тому +1

      I completely agree.
      I like to think the canonical ending to Fallout 4 is the BoS victory over the Institute, with the Sole Survivor becoming a Sentinel. It feels like because of the male Sole Survivor’s military background, and his desire to return things to the way they were Pre-war (even tho he knows that he can’t truly do that because War... War never changes) as well as the vision of the BoS appealing to his nature as a human being. He wants to preserve the world that he lost, and make sure things don’t go down hill again, the way they did. He understands some of the immorality of the BoS, but his viewpoint of them isn’t swayed by it. This is because of the Brotherhood’s duty to citizens of the Wasteland as their protection and defense against all threats. They kill Super Mutants, Feral Ghouls, Synths (that serve as a hinderance to the people of the Wasteland, like the Institute. They understand just what’s at stake to leave a free-willing machine alive.), Raiders, and anyone or anything that could prove to be a danger. The Sole Survivor understands the gravity of the situation, so he knows the justification of killing some Synths that while may not be a known danger, they definitely present a severe security risk for everyone. These ideals coincide with the preservation of technology. The Sole Survivor knows that the technology of the Wasteland must be taken into good hands, for the better. The cleansing of the Wasteland is justified. All of this gives him pride in what he does as he lives in this Wasteland, knowing that the military force he affiliates with holds true to the Justice and Liberty of the Wasteland. The ideals of the Brotherhood of Steel guide him to be a true soldier of Righteous Authority. For the greater good. Ad Victoriam!

    It's so difficult for me to put pieces together like this, so these videos are really helpful. That bit at the end by McNamara, it's really powerful. It's the kind of thing they tell us soldiers are supposed to be about, for better or worse. Look past your own skin, and see the bigger picture. The things worth fighting for, and worth dying for, so someone else can have even a chance at picking up the thread of what's right and good in this world.

Hope you've considered doing audio books because you've got and awesome voice and you're def. a great storyteller. Thanks for making 76 available and can't wait for the next episode! (PS I personally think the player character was born in or at least primarily raised in 76 (usually looking younger by default). I wonder about the conflicting experiences of this scenario though; the born or too-young-to-remember kids who were raised on stories about the old world, vs. the older folks who lived in '77 era America. Especially considering the circumstances before the war. It would be really interesting to see how each might react to what they actually find on Reclamation Day.

      Diamond city) 50 years after the bombs fell people start to in a baseball stadium and set up a noodle stand set up a military and a mayor several decades later a synth appears and kills 14( I think) citizens before being killed this made the people of diamond city fearful of the institute several decades later piper moves in and one year later fallout 4 happens
      See not much
      Vault 101) sometime before 23 October 2077 vault 101 is made then the world ends no one ever leaves the vault untill around (10ish) years before fallout 3 At least 2 people go out one goes to mega ton and dies but at least he gets an armoured jumpsuit then fallout 3 happens

    While I hate that every faction is dead I did like brotherhood being gone, in the game everyone was whispering about the brotherhood and how they were gone, the air of mystery what happened to them was one of my favorite parts about the game. The brotherhood was always unbeatable but learning they had been wiped out gave certain forbodingness to the enemy we were facing.

    • @DeaconBlues117

      And if they'd just stopped being so terrified of the Responders "betraying" them, the two United factions could have taken out the major Raider gangs (with quiet help from the Mistresses) and what remained of Appalachia might have stood a chance against the Scorched - especially if Abbie managed to overcome the Free Staters' paranoia and shared the Scorched detection tech with them.
      The Overseer was right, you know - what killed Appalachia in the end was insularity and a lack of trust. They could have won, if they'd just pulled together.
