Excellent review. I knew you’d love this one. There are so many little things that are just done right. I was delighted to find that what’s ostensibly a traversal ability, sticking Lux to a wall, also serves as a sneaky trap from behind on the way back. The sword spin seems weak until you realize it hits on the way back. Brilliant. It’s also one of those few games where the gun is just as viable as the sword. It’s amazing how many games get this wrong, while some of the best games (the Hyper Light Drifters and Mega Man Zeros of the world) feel so good partly because they get it right. The teleporting and air dashing… Team Ladybug has a knack for making getting around just super fun. Hell, even their non-MV, Drainus, was like that. The progression, the power, the variety. I never get bored playing one of their games, truly. Nice Teddy Ruxpin reference, btw. Might feel more like 2XL to me, given the cyberpunk theme 😂
Wow! I chose to buy Super Roboy over this because I saw a few vaguely negative reviews, but everything you said about Blade Chimera sounded right up my alley! I love the idea of a game that is confident enough in its worldbuilding and writing that it will offer lore as a side quest reward instead of loot. That being said, I'm getting quite a kick out of Super Roboy, can't wait to see your review of the release version :)
I loved Super Roboy’s demo. It’s on the list, but I have Somber Echoes and Ender Magnolia first. Then Super Roboy. THEN Momibosu. THEN ReSetna. AND THEN Faunamorph if I have time 😵💫

Just 100%'d it and man, I freaking loved this game. I wish it was a bit more challenging throughout, I agree that some of the platforming is pretty dull when there was potential for way better. But man, just one of those games where it all comes together for you. From game feel to atmosphere and style, I really dig it. I'd give it a 9, too. 👍
Beat this last night. Put about 10 hrs into the game and there is still more content to explore with Side-Missions and a whole optional section in the world with the Mr. Presidents. Easily one of the best MVs to come out recently.
First came accross Team Ladybug via their Shmup Drainus. Really enjoyed it. I'll get Deedlit, Luna and this at some point. Got my eyes on Ender Magnolia atm. Pretty Cool this one! Has Yokai enemies too! Great Review as always Guru!
I knew you'd love this one, Mv Guru. I agree with your beginning statement, and, this is also Team Ladybug's most realized mv to date. Yeah, everyone knows Luna Nights and Wonder Labyrinth, but how many people know Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prequel? As of watching this, Im replaying Blade Chimera blind, missing only 2 puzzle pieces, trying to finish all enemy drops and find the last 2 seemingly secret enemies, two I found by accident, and one of those two was due to warping to a specific square on the map that gets filled out in a zone that you traverse over, it was a complete accident and it blew my mind. Its an additive game and a great mv that gets better as you progress, and a strong start to the mv year. I cant wait to see what you'll think of Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Myst, I saw I Dream of Indie's review of it and man, it seems to be one of the masterclass mvs of this year
nice tree! I'm about 3/4ths through this game and my conclusion was "If you like this developer's other games you'll love this. If you like the concept of the setting and metroidvanias you'll like this." My major complaints are it's super easy to get lost in the map when you're trying to find quests. I ended up having to look up videos for one or two after running around the designated areas several times. (NOT the riddles. I did the riddles myself because they're supposed to be difficult.) The other is you can get juggled to death far too easy but that's not unusual for these game. Overall neither of those were major drawbacks to me so far. I really loved the map travel ability. Once I got past difficult rooms I go back to a save point and never agaaaaainnnn. The side quests make you have to walk through the areas some anyways, and sometimes going through a room to level is good. I am enjoying this game a lot.
I agree! IT IS A SHORT GAME AND LACKS PLATFORMING THAT WILL GIVE YOU A HARD TIME! C Tier is enough for this Great Metroidvania! If it only have more platforming, more things to offer, more things and places to explore and at least 20 - 23 hours in length to finish this will be automatically S Tier!
I just finished the game, this game is just fun just like Wanderer, I love the pixel art, I'm a huge pixel art fan and when a games amazing pixel art it's hard for me not to enjoy it unless the gameplay sucks, but it doesn't killing enemies is super fun traversal is smooth and easy, I did all the SQs because I could just teleport from anywhere to anywhere it's just fun. This game is like a delicious snack, it's nothing impressive but light and fun. Kinda reminds me of old MMX games where you just start the game finish a few levels or even clear the game in a few hours super fun and fast. One thing I wish they added which is an ability that made you run super fast.

S tier means its in the best of the best category , when people usually grade something if they put it in the S tier it means its either the best or close to it . A tier is lower than S tier . So when people do these rankings if you see something in the S tier that means they value it extremely highly no matter what the ranking is about . People generally put these tiers . S tier - the best of the best ( the highest grade ) A tier - great but not quite amazing enough to be in the S tier B tier is good or above average C tier is average D tier is bellow average or bad E tier ( some people put this ) this mean its bad but not quite garbage but best avoided F tier means its trash Hope this helps .
