+LUVAKAT I know what you mean. I have a 5 y/o and would still be hesitant bringing him along up and down the east coast. That might just be me. An ocean crossing with two capable sailors isn't that easy. Throw into the mix two children and that's hard for any seasoned sailor. Now add the Pacific Ocean into that.
Placebo_Jones Yeah, 5 year olds got some energy to watch out for, but I can see a 4 or 5 year old out there(depending on how ready they are). I am not sure if I'd take mine under 5, since I have hard time taking my 1 year old and his 4 year old brother to the playground. They are just so over the place. They wont stop bouncing all over the place while crossing just intracoastal water, so imagine the sea. Calm kids, that listen well, might actually do well as early as 3. I have met kids like that, they are just not mine :(
LUVAKAT Mine is definitely not. He fancies himself a soccer legend and who am I to deny him that. So yeah a 5 year old running around a 30 foot sailboat with a soccer ball is probably a recipe for disaster going up and down the ICW. But nevertheless, we will stick to the Long Island Sound until he's ready. Nothing like getting them seaworthy from a young age though.
Placebo_Jones I support that. Same here, actually. I enjoyed my evening at the beach with my son running around(p.s. my 1 year old loves soccer, as we found out). If the water temp matched 90F weather we could've even gone swimming today. It is enough for now, though. Get them used to water. Lots of swimming and water activities, learning about the ocean and then slowly taking the to a bit of nearby sailing. :) Im just glad we are not the only ones waiting and preparing.

Tree Hugger some people do, there are many people that live in small homes or trailers. they often will go on the road for many months at a time. and the thing about sea sickness is that you get used to the water and it goes away.
Tree Hugger Lol, what is the problem you have with boats!? these people decided to live their life a certain way. A way that they find to be interesting and entertaining, whats the issue?
Honestly me. I lived middle of the ocean on a small island far away from others. Most adults would move out but i was too broke plus left out with a alcoholic father.
It must Really stink with baby diapers on boards for weeks,🤢 Just wait till kids are older, better swimmers and immune system has gotten stronger like 10 years old 🤔⛵👍🏼
In some ways I would say that this life style is actually teaching the kids a lot more then what is just taught in public schools. These kids get to explore and learn hands on. I think that is great!
i have friends who live on a boat and travel around a lot and a lot of their life is spent on shore visiting many different places and visiting and interacting with other boat families. sometimes they would also stay in one place for a longer period of time and send the kids to school there. they would have many friends and have lots of opportunities to interact with others. it isn't isolated at all
phoebe Until they grow up, have to move into an apartment and find a way to pay ransom... I mean rent. The majority of military children, raised in these types of conditions, have well documented issues. Children of parents who move constantly, on land, also have issues as young adults and grown ups. This is NOT a lifestyle for children. If they choose this for their adult lives its their choice, but children need the security of a bed and stationary household... Plus, the environment here is not child friendly or safe. Children are quick and the surroundings can easily become hazardous. One child is a handful. Three a juggle. Let's hope they've come to their senses and have moved in to a real home, for their childrens sake. Any mother who would allow this is a complete air head.
T-Bone --- lol!! Wtf! These kids are more well rounded than 90% of the kids in America who get raised by daycare workers and are rushed out of the house every single morning cuz mom and dad have to go to work and when they come home they are tired and barelu ever spent actual quality time w their kids!!! The Happiest, healthiest kids, are the ones who get to spent TIME w their PARENTS!! And tbese kids also have their sibblings as well!! Before internet and before "mom" went to work also..what do u think happened then? Kids only had their sibblings to play with...that's quite normal actualy
responsibility is your decision to take with you. if you dont like to pay 2000 dollars in a rent or rather live your life in RV or a boat its your responsibility Your freedom.
I don't think it's that bad. The only thing that I have problems with is how little space the kids have for play, exercise and running around. Little kids in small apartments in New York get to go to the playground. These ones don't.
A few problems I see. One of the major ones is that the children's immune systems aren't being strengthened by getting common colds and viruses, as they would if they interacted with other children/people outside of their own family. Because of that, I'm not sure what's going to happen when they do eventually enter into the general public. The second thing of course is them not being able to socialize with others outside of their family bubble either. Humans are sociable creatures, and inevitably this whole being on a boat thing will hit a wall, and the kids will want to interact with other kids, especially when they're in their teens. ...But by then, they will have been isolated for so long, they won't know how to interact with other people.
itsMinuteMaid I think it's important to remember that they'll be on land quite a bit and interacting quite a bit-just because their home is the water, they spend lots of time in harbours experiencing different cultures and meeting lots of people. They'll meet other families with the same lifestyle and sail together-it's a community. If you're interested in the "day to day" life of sailing you should check out "sailing la vagabonde" here on UA-cam. It's quite interesting.
itsMinuteMaid you're wrong. I know people that have never been outside the country I grew up with. these kids see people from all over, many cultures are seen. there are cons I'm sure, but that isn't one.
Families who do this have lots of opportunities for interactions with new communities. They don't stay out at sea permanently, but instead travel from place to place, maybe going from one port to the next over a 24 hour period, or a week, or the long treks might be a couple weeks. But cruising around the Bahamas? They are close to land, or in port. Heck, there is even a boat in the Bahamas that delivers pizza to the different sailboats and yachts! It really isn't all that remote, just different.
Marjorie Gross a pizza delivery boat, nice. That would be a great market for drone deliveries. Just set out a retractable net to catch your deliveries.
Calling a life on a boat irresponsible shows the biggest ignorance ever. No where else do you have to be more responsible for every step you take, every system you use, every breathe you take, ever day the sun gets up... Following the depth of your hearts longing and showing your kids that dreams are not only there for dreaming is what makes this life worthwhile. Are you here to survive? Or are you here to live? Big Salty Kisses to you guys as you are making your Northern Passage. Bummer we missed you in the Caribbean. Tons of love, fair winds and clean fuel from the Sailing Yoga Family;) x
We did the same thing except we live in a fifth wheel(after we will sail) going to all national parks. We decided to stay in Colorado for 6 months and put our oldest in school he knows more than every child. His report card has Effectively Demonstrating for everything and ranked a 4 meaning he is performing at a 1st grade level. Plus he knows who the general of the Revolutionary war is and the battles ;) homeschooling is the way to go!!!
I am a live aboard cruiser. No ones leaves port when you are sick. The baby was on medication that was prescribed. sorry, this shows lack of experience.
What a lot of people here don't understand is when cruising on a boat, the majority of time is spent in harbors in different towns and countries. more days are spent on land experiencing the cultures than confined on a boat. In every harbor is many other people doing the same thing, other cruising kids to meet and meet again in other countries. There is a whole world of thousand and thousands of people cruising, a global community.
From what I can tell, it is similar to families who travel full time in RV's. Those on boats might spend slightly longer from civilization than those on land, but there are places in the US where help can be a very, very long way away too.
I would live like this as long as I was experienced with medical stuff, how to sail and to teach my kids, I think this is a great idea. I love the ocean it's gorgeous
I would like to know what they do for work when it costs 2-5k a month. Also those kids will retain more information about marine biology and geography than most kids in an education system.
My wife and I are going to do just that with our son in tow after she finishes her master in marine biology. We are intending to home school as well, focusing intensely on bio diversity and world history. Teach Egyptology to our son while in Egypt. As for safety, I would rather sail an ocean with my son then walk down to the store for an ice cream in any city. But in turn my son will be 9 when we set sail, and 12 once we return. I know he will benefit from this trip, and progress not just in his intellect, but in understanding and comprehension as well. More power to this family. Don't attack them just because you people sit afraid on your couches with your doors locked and live not of life.
Understand and comprehension don't come from education. They come from experience. Being out on a boat for so long is going to keep him isolated and also develop bad social skills so easily.
I would love to do this... I just got my Masters and this is my dream, to be a nomad and see the world. Typical millennial, right. If only I had the capital for that...
I grew up next to the grandparents of a family of five that was raised on a sail boat. They sailed around a good portion of the world seeing a lot of amazing things. The kids were really socially awkward and no one wanted to play with them when they visited. The kids eventually went to college and all of them fell off the wagon some with drugs others like the girls got pregnant almost immediately. They just weren't prepared for life only learning from their parents. Only one of the five made it through college and one committed suicide after attempting to enter the work force. The father was a marine biologist and the mother was his college flame. It's a fun concept, but social skills outweigh pretty much any other skill you can teach them. If you knew any home schooled children growing up they were similar to that only much worse. I'm now nearly thirty and haven't heard about them since their grandparents moved.
Imo, you shouldn't have had kids if you wanted this sailing life full time. Once you have kids it's not about you anymore. Very selfish. These kids are missing out by being trapped in that boat at sea. They should be playing with other kids, riding a bicycle, etc.
They get to travel the world, learn new cultures, see different people, learn the value of a strong family. Seems like a good way to raise a well-rounded child.
My only issue with this is that they have such little space. Sometimes you need to let the kids loose outside for a while to run around and burn off energy. I would feel way too cramped on this little boat with 3 kids. Otherwise, I don't think they're bad parents, kudos to them for getting out of the system of slavery.
I wouldn't say they are bad parents, just saying it's selfish to keep these kids trapped on a boat. The parents are doing what they want to do not what's in the best interest for their kids. Reason I didn't want kids is so I can do wtf I want and be free, however, once you have kids you can't be selfish anymore and have do what's best for them.
I love this idea! I think it's great. If they're happy and healthy and the kids are being raised well and being educated, I don't really see the problem. They totally have everything they need to survive, and thrive, in life and at sea.
I've lived on a boat for 8 years, I've been homeschooled, learned 4 languages, met bunch of people and gained so many experiences. We almost never got sick, I dont remember going to the hospital for anything but drawing blood and vaccines, I never got seriously injured. I had unlimited data wherever we went when I turned twelve and got my phone. I had friends everywhere so I'm not awkward around people. My dad sold everything, bought the boat and we were off. It's not easy but it isn't complicated either. I always had what I needed and almost always what I wanted. I had one brother and we shared a room for four years, yes we needed space, so I was about eleven when he moved to another room, so I had my privacy. We had a bathtub, two bathrooms and three rooms. My point is, everything we did was made is precise decisions and we took the necessary measures for everything. Hope my life helped you understand it's not at all bad. It varies from person to person, but I had a normal life, just live on a different place. You can ask me questions about anything, I'm willing to educate people on this lifestyle. ❤
This is so interesting to me. What an amazing childhood these children are getting! They're teaching them, raising them, and they're the best job they can. What happened to that other couple was scary, but they did their best and they got their family safe. What the navy did, they would have done for anyone out at sea in trouble.
1) How do the kids make friends 2) How do the parents earn money 3) Where does their waste go (toilet and bin) 4) How do they buy food 5) Do the kids not feel sea sick? 6) What if they needed urgent medial attention and couldn't fix the problem with what they have at home?
If your sailboat is that small, I don't think you should try to cross huge oceans. With a child, you should sail in areas where land can be quickly accessed and you're not cut off from communication. There's nothing wrong with living in a sailboat but you have to make wiser decisions especially if it will affect others negatively.
I grew up sailing on boats for weeks on end from the time I was born. We would go sailing annually. Some of my greatest memories were on the boat with my family. It is literally a home on the water. With experienced sailors sailing the boat you are much less likely to get hurt or die then you are by driving in a car. People who say they shouldn't put there kids in danger but put their children in a car everyday have no right to judge.
I give that family props, 100%. Good job for doing what you want. Forget the judgmental assholes commenting here. Life is short, conforming just means you're wasting your life not being an individual.
I think it's a great way of life. But I would totally go bonkers on the open see. It just scares me, I don't know why. The only thing I personally don't like, is the homeschooling part. Doesn't homeschooling mainly happen online? It would really suprise me, if they had a steady Internetconnection.
Not necessarily. Computers haven't been around that long. There are lots of places in the world where people don't even have access to the technology we do and are therefore homeschooled/educated through books.
I'm homeschooled, and my mom and dad teach me mostly everything. The only classes I've taken online is Spanish and Driver's Ed. My mom uses a curriculum to teach us, and we schedule it out for the whole year.
MiamiSunrise24 Nost likely old fashioned books. I'm homeschooled as well, and I use a program that is with an actual private school, they mail in exact work and tests they use in their schools. I finish the work and have to send it back for them to grade. My mother of course helps when needed, but, unlike a lot of homeschooling curriculums, she doesn't grade the work. They would not be able to mail their work though, so I'm not sure if their mom just grades or what. Seems too hard to me.
My grandparents had a huge yacht in the 70s and it hit coral and sunk. I wasn't born yet, but I saw a bunch of news articles, it was crazy as in one article my uncle is on another boat and behind him your seeing the yacht sink. It must of took a little bit of time to fully sink as they were able to get stuff out including this huge table out that my family has to this day in their dining room. Even though I wasn't born yet it scared me from ever wanting to live at sea. I guess if I knew more about boats I'd feel comfortable but I don't so there is no way I would live at sea but more power to this couple.
It amazes me when parents like this say it's not for them it's for the children. No it's not, they might gain some things, but they miss so many. Playing with other children, socialising with others, experiencing life outside a small boat and endless sea.
I applaud this family for living out at sea. My family vacation that I love so much is to be on a Windjammer Schooner for a week!!! I would love to live out at sea!!!! 😊👨👩👧👦🐟🦀🐬🌊🛥⛵️
That’s ridiculously selfish and unfair to the children. Children need an environment where they can safely run and play. If you wanted to live at sea, you should’ve done so without having children or after they’re grown.
Good for them. They refuse to let others call them stupid and irresponsible and they shrug of those comments. What a cool concept and family. I love the way they are hands on with the kids. A+ parenting on my opinion
living at sea seems majestic to me but i do think the kids should be able to spend some time on land..... but away from the drama of the world, society seems peaceful but in the long run when their kids become adults they will choose how they wanna live out their life... and i wonder how this will play out.... think it would be cool to live on a private island and on the sea.
My only concern is socialization. These kids live with their family and don't get to experience meeting and learning from other people. I am not judging their lifestyle, just raising a concern
When I was in middle school two twin sisters in my grade went with their family to live on a boat for a year. There were four kids total and 2 golden retrievers. They came back speaking Spanish really well and had a lot of cool experiences, but their “homeschooling” was questionable...
I wouldn't do this with my children, and I don't necessarily agree with these parents, but as long as they are extremely prepared then they can do whatever they want
children get sick and need emergency care. its someone that happens. this is literally the same as calling an ambulance. if the parents provide good food, life lessons, love, friends, and education, why should it matter where they live?
TodaysRealHealth You get lost you can't call the police or the ambulance and you can't get to a hospital. No gas you can't call for a tow truck. Hurricanes you can't do anything and if tornado hits you can hide in a bunker
Many years ago we were on a cruise headed on a western itinerary. The first 2 days were sea days. Around noon on the second day we came to a stop in the middle of ocean. Btw a hurricane had impacted Mexico and blown through the gulf the previous week. I joined many others looking over the side of our ship and saw a run down catamaran with at least 3-4 adults and 3-4 very young children and 2 large dogs. I went down to my cabin and stood on the balcony and watched as our ship sent boxes of food, supplies and a lot of water. We were told later that our captain has offered and even encouraged the people on the catamaran to come on board but they wished to stay with their catamaran. The thing that really grabbed my attention were the 3-4 very young children running around the deck without life jackets or tethers on. And the 2 large dogs running after the children and around the deck visibly agitated by the large cruise ship so close. And the catamaran we came across was not near as nice as the one in this video. I wondered how a child didn't fall off or even a dog. I am NOT judging these folks. Part of me admires their courage and ability to throw off the shackles of society and live off of the grid.
Luke Lemmons it sounds a bit like an Australian who's being living in America for a long time, some words sound very American but some sound Australian.
For all the haters out there: Job - they can work on the internet as many people already do. Kids - they have the best school in the world. They actually LEARN the world. Room - If they need "room" for themselves, they just pick one of the 1.000 islands they see. Or do you think a 10 sqm room is enough for a teenager? How much "room" does a person need? Danger - I consider it more dangerous for a kid to cross a street than living on a boat So, just take it easy, let them be and enjoy some nice pictures, guys. Don't get frustrated or envious.
stupid question, Rescue is a public service, many others need rescue. Just because you don't live a life of adventure and don't need rescue doesn't mean everybody has to be like that....
I know someone who was rescued by helicopter in the Arizona desert, so obviously the ocean isn't the only place one can get stranded and die, but he had to pay for his helicopter ride, was about 100,000$ I believe. As far as I know, taxes do not pay for that stuff.
sirlandsalot Not a stupid question... if rescue is a "public service" doesn't mean it comes without a price... Average cost of a paramedic or fire engine rescue without insurance can come over $1,000 USD
StarSailorMars, in response to you're response, I am a mother, and it IS irresponsible taking children out to sea, and living in a boat. it is not safe out there on the ocean!! please be kind!!😃
No when I actually have kids I will live in a house not in the middle of the pasfic ocean ok.Not to mention what happen when food runs out and we heard the other one with the satellite
From those who've been doing it a lot, it's 10 percent sailing 90 percent marinas or anchored offshore. There's time to socialize and they're not as ignorant of other cultures. Nothing beats being actually out there meeting other people than just reading about them on books or watching TV.
these parents are selfish to pursue their "love" of sailing. They are depriving their children normal childhood, social interaction with other kids, sports & school activities etc..which are crucial for their development. They would grow up weird just like their parents. UTTERLY SELFISH!
the only one who sounds like a moron here is YOU because you can't respect other people's opinion. I know what deprivation and have experienced it so don't even tell me what it is. It's funny that you tell me that I judged these people, yet you are doing the exact same thing here - to me. You are right, I know nothing about them, because I'm not selfish like them. If you don't like what I said, tough and move on.
***** when someone uses profanity when expressing oneself, that person has limited vocabulary. It only highlights how petty you are and subjective your opinions. The only one who acts like a juvenile here is you. There was no substance in what you are calling me out for. Nonsense really.
Dani Mark You're selfish for raising your family on land. How dare you! Honestly, you're nothing more than a judgmental ass. I'll bet you're a christian.
J Frawley Really? I would say just the opposite. Its usually hard core leftist (atheistic) socialists who want everyone to be in the "safety " of the state and would frown on this family because the kids are not in school or have a social worker watching them. I was actually kind of assuming that the people in the story were Christians . I don't know if they are or not.
WTF is this. When you get children you should not be out sailing with them all the time like wtf these children need to have other kids to play with and learn to ride a bicycle and many other things they cant do at sea which means these children wont have a normal and good childhood.
Crying Yolk Oh yeah they do but when they grow older they wont have any friends other than themselves to play with and hang out with they only have that small boat. Also the parents say that they are teaching the children themselves but since i dont think they have a degree in teaching for example maths, language, history, sience and more they wont be able to teach their kids as well as teachers would in the fast land
pandacat 04 No they don't need but since they don't have it the kids wont get as good as they would in school since the parents probably makes mistakes since it long since they were in school
Bobo24 I was home schooled and I was taught just as well, if not better. In fact, homeschooled kids tend to know more and be more mature than kids that go to regular school. I've worked with both homeschooled and regular schooled kids. I have both as friends and from what I've seen, the vast majority of homeschooled kids know more and are more mature than the average kid. Half of the homeschooled kids i know are already going to college classes by 16 because they're so advanced in school and are ready for college level basics.
I think that they are very amazing good people and for school when the kids have to learn about the ocean there are right there I think they are doing great
I'm guessing they are boatschooled

Serious question, who paid the $600k rescue bill for that other couple?
the government I'd assume
Thanks!

How long until you get fed up with land?

They grow and turn into Captain Jack Sparrow 😂
responsibility is your decision to take with you. if you dont like to pay 2000 dollars in a rent or rather live your life in RV or a boat its your responsibility Your freedom.
Freedom ... rock on!
I don't think it's that bad. The only thing that I have problems with is how little space the kids have for play, exercise and running around. Little kids in small apartments in New York get to go to the playground. These ones don't.
they swim in the makeshift playground around them.
FlufflyMufflin yeah, one tiny makeshift playground just doesn't cut it
Phil:) did you just call the ocean tiny?
***** No, I called their playground tiny. Do you really think they let their kids go swim wild in the entire ocean?
Phil:) They have plenty of space. I don't see anything blocking them from swimming as far as they want.
Just set out a retractable net to catch your deliveries.
itsMinuteMaid, that's not what I call a few problems, a few problems is more then 4, you only said 2 problems
I liked when she said she don't wanna be a slave ofthe system.
Tons of love, fair winds and clean fuel from the Sailing Yoga Family;) x
this sounds awesome to live at sea! but that sucks for the other family that got stranded
That water was the cleanest water i have ever seen
Maple Syrup RIGHTTTTTT!!!!
Not anymore.
Honestly I 100% support this families decision, ans I am very very much for raising kids in a "abnormal" environment.
Michelle Rekuc it not abnormal
Michelle Rekuc the problem is, they don't get proper education
Borelcoder 777 They are still being homeschooled, you learn the same stuff, just normally it is all online.
Michelle Rekuc homeschooling isn't normally online.
Honestly this would be my ultimate dream.. to sail around the world with my family for a year. I don't think I could do it permanently though.
I am a live aboard cruiser. No ones leaves port when you are sick. The baby was on medication that was prescribed. sorry, this shows lack of experience.
Terry Peake exactly!!!
Life goal. Have passive income of 2k a month and do this.
What a lot of people here don't understand is when cruising on a boat, the majority of time is spent in harbors in different towns and countries. more days are spent on land experiencing the cultures than confined on a boat. In every harbor is many other people doing the same thing, other cruising kids to meet and meet again in other countries. There is a whole world of thousand and thousands of people cruising, a global community.
sirlandsalot yes
sirlandsalot it also takes months sailing to get to those places
From what I can tell, it is similar to families who travel full time in RV's. Those on boats might spend slightly longer from civilization than those on land, but there are places in the US where help can be a very, very long way away too.
sirlandsalot yeah sure. In 20 years they’ll have no company pension and they’ll expect the tax payers to support them.
sirlandsalot yep
That bathtub water looks DIRTY! oof
I would live like this as long as I was experienced with medical stuff, how to sail and to teach my kids, I think this is a great idea. I love the ocean it's gorgeous
GERARD LEONARD
What happens if they encounter pirates?
I would like to know what they do for work when it costs 2-5k a month. Also those kids will retain more information about marine biology and geography than most kids in an education system.
Jeniko I'm curious about what they do for work as well
Jeniko Carl is a licensed captain and gets jobs here and there.
Sailing Salty Kisses
Oh cool, thanks for the info.
If they cared to pay attention. Have you ever paid attention to directions when your parents drove you around when you were little? No? Exactly
Uzma M my parents driving isn’t as fascinating as being able to see different animals from the sea
Love the scorning attitude the main stream has for people living outside the normal confines of society's sheep.
War against autonomy!
Say no more
Understand and comprehension don't come from education.
Corey Beaty goodluck
yes, while there is the chance that they'll sink, they are safer there. no murderers, robbers or isis
lol really? isis?
Amy Mck There are pirates, but those can be avoided.
Ben Allan pirates don't really exist anymore
Amy Mck Somali pirates.
Problem is weather is unpredictable. If hurricane happens that it.
CycleCruza true
Tbh I agree
wtf is her accent from i cant tell.
Amphey Australian I think
Someone said their from Louisiana
my family is from Louisiana she sounded australlian at times and american at others.
+遊児照島(プレイボーイ) she's definitely not from Louisiana
Amphey exactly! I was wondering the same.
I love this idea! I think it's great. If they're happy and healthy and the kids are being raised well and being educated, I don't really see the problem. They totally have everything they need to survive, and thrive, in life and at sea.
Friend: Can I come over?
Daughter: Yeah well about that......
Those kids are going to have so many great memories, and an amazing life. I'm jealous
I guess the plus side is that when they make the boat rock the kids just think its the motion in the ocean. XD
1) How do the kids make friends
2) How do the parents earn money
3) Where does their waste go (toilet and bin)
4) How do they buy food
5) Do the kids not feel sea sick?
6) What if they needed urgent medial attention and couldn't fix the problem with what they have at home?
Do they know Trump is their new president? Or did the fish wont tell them.
dan_Hak D.Hakimie they have a TV
They probably didnt knoe that they will be wiped out by north korean missiles or should i say nukes no more boat family😃😂😃😂😂😃😃😂😂☺☺☺😅😅😅😅😅
If they have technology they wouldn't know wait do they have technology
If your sailboat is that small, I don't think you should try to cross huge oceans. With a child, you should sail in areas where land can be quickly accessed and you're not cut off from communication. There's nothing wrong with living in a sailboat but you have to make wiser decisions especially if it will affect others negatively.
size does not represent safety on a sailboat, many smaller boats handle far better in big waves.
No.
They are homeschooling old fashuon way with books there oldest is 5 at most so isn't tto hard.
i think you could take a load of textbooks out, a terms worth of resources from a teacher
So their "ship" name would be Carly?
I would never live on sea for 3 reasons.
1. No wifi
2 the freaking boat could drown
3 no dunkin donuts
Boats don't drown...they sink. If the boat sinks, then the humans may drown.
Um you can have wifi on boats
It amazes me when parents like this say it's not for them it's for the children. No it's not, they might gain some things, but they miss so many. Playing with other children, socialising with others, experiencing life outside a small boat and endless sea.
I applaud this family for living out at sea. My family vacation that I love so much is to be on a Windjammer Schooner for a week!!! I would love to live out at sea!!!! 😊👨👩👧👦🐟🦀🐬🌊🛥⛵️
how are the parents paying? What jobs do they have?
That’s ridiculously selfish and unfair to the children. Children need an environment where they can safely run and play. If you wanted to live at sea, you should’ve done so without having children or after they’re grown.
Captcha Neon ... the seem to be running and playing safely just fine in the video
TheZombifiedFairy Being restricted to a small boat isn’t good for children long term.
Captcha Neon I doubt they spend 365 days strictly on the boat. They explore countries and islands and have fun. So I think they're just fine
Wow! I wish I was raised at sea! I LOVE the ocean!!! I wanna marry a sailor now!
I am not judging their lifestyle, just raising a concern
how do they make money for food
That water is so beautiful😍
Ahhh these kids are so lucky
I live on a ship. I've been living there for the last 9 years and more to come. I'm 12 years old.
Banana World! you got wifi on your boat?
silly bear Rightt
silly bear yes you can get WiFi etc on boats etc. she could also be at dock. they just don't always float.
Banana World! looking at you're video thumbnails every one would be able to tell that you are on land....
When I was in middle school two twin sisters in my grade went with their family to live on a boat for a year. There were four kids total and 2 golden retrievers. They came back speaking Spanish really well and had a lot of cool experiences, but their “homeschooling” was questionable...
Aww what a cute family, I personally wouldn't want to live on sea but I am not going to claim these parents as weird, dumb, or irresponsible
Good for them. Forget the haters. It's a family that is together and they are safe. That's all that matters
Good for them doing what they want :)
I really love the sound of this family . they sound so nice
Why are shores safer? Get hit by a car any moment? Mother Nature on land is just as dangerous.
TodaysRealHealth You get lost you can't call the police or the ambulance and you can't get to a hospital. No gas you can't call for a tow truck.
Hurricanes you can't do anything and if tornado hits you can hide in a bunker
+Gene Cha got that.
TodaysRealHealth hurricanes don't just pop up out of nowhere. most boats have weather satellite. what ever did they do before technology ?
That sounds like a dream come true to me sailing the world learning new things every day it sounds amazing
No disrespect but..Those kids are going to grow up uneducated and hard-headed. "I don't wanna put dat vest on." "A B C D....E....uh watever mate." smh
Where is this lady from, I can't place her accent, it sounds like some weird American country accent????
Luke Lemmons it sounds a bit like an Australian who's being living in America for a long time, some words sound very American but some sound Australian.
Luke Lemmons It is an eastern shore accent. Outer Banks, NC most likely
Captcha Neon that’s where I’m from hehe
I thought New Zealand at first.
For all the haters out there:
Job - they can work on the internet as many people already do.
Kids - they have the best school in the world. They actually LEARN the world.
Room - If they need "room" for themselves, they just pick one of the 1.000 islands they see. Or do you think a 10 sqm room is enough for a teenager? How much "room" does a person need?
Danger - I consider it more dangerous for a kid to cross a street than living on a boat
So, just take it easy, let them be and enjoy some nice pictures, guys. Don't get frustrated or envious.
Kids are safe and loved that's all that matters
*Family:* Mother nature won't hurt us out here
*Ocean:* Oh we'll see about that!
how do they get supplies? what if they need to go to the doctor? how do they throw trash away?
oh ok, thanks!
They get supplies from Amazon , they send boxes out by drone into the Pacific and the drone takes the trash back with it . Really cool !
This is a brilliant way to bring up kids, I would do it but on a motor yacht not a sailing boat
i actually live in the bahamas and i would do what there doing any day so much beauty out there
Omg! These people are living the ultimate dream life. I would give anything to go live on a boat in the ocean. What a dream.
how do you not go nuts!? claustrophobia!!
The only reason I wouldn't raise kids at seas is because I'm terrified of open water
Why are people soo desperate to be "unique"
Farmer Nate right...
Farmer Nate Exactly
fuck u farmer nate (im a vegan )
Farmer Nate and your a fucking sheep ....they are doing what they want. You do whatever the fuck you want and fuck off
craig la ***You're. Please use proper english before you insult someone.
I grew up sailing since I was a baby I think it safe if you take the proper protocol. it a great experience for the kids
I ship it
Sophia Greer lolololo
Living on a boat seems cool. Think of the marine life and the fishing opportunities! Not to mention the world's biggest pool right outside your door.
So did they pay back the $600,000 that was included in that rescue mission???
stupid question, Rescue is a public service, many others need rescue. Just because you don't live a life of adventure and don't need rescue doesn't mean everybody has to be like that....
Hopefully not, or else we are due a pretty large tax refund.
I know someone who was rescued by helicopter in the Arizona desert, so obviously the ocean isn't the only place one can get stranded and die, but he had to pay for his helicopter ride, was about 100,000$ I believe. As far as I know, taxes do not pay for that stuff.
sirlandsalot
Not a stupid question... if rescue is a "public service" doesn't mean it comes without a price...
Average cost of a paramedic or fire engine rescue without insurance can come over $1,000 USD
This is amazing although when the kids start growing up I can see how the cramped up space would be a problem
How do they get water? They must stop and fill up?
Brock Molloy they can go to near by docks that have stores, places to rent cars, hotels, and more!
Brock Molloy Most likely they make their own water from the sea using a desalinator.
Is BEUTIFUL too live like that natural, great choices will be some challenge, biut, stay strong, family the love each others conquers anything, AMEN 👍🤗
There fine since there's land next to them
Who cares!? It's their lives. They can do what they want! They seem to be really caring parents as well
OMG THAT STARFISH THO😮!!
Sama Abdallah SMACK SPLAT
This looks awesome. Make your own crew. Go sailing. Haters can suck it.
anyone else noticed the dirty dirty water the little girl was bathing in.
it was most likely because the 2 older girls bathe in the same water, its not terrible i had to do that with my cousin quite often.
Hk Edits Two people in the same water is one thing, but three? That is terrible
That's really gross
Dani Mark You are that kind of people they run away!
Not good for these children, they need society
WTF is this. When you get children you should not be out sailing with them all the time like wtf these children need to have other kids to play with and learn to ride a bicycle and many other things they cant do at sea which means these children wont have a normal and good childhood.
AceRex they seem happy to me
Crying Yolk Oh yeah they do but when they grow older they wont have any friends other than themselves to play with and hang out with they only have that small boat. Also the parents say that they are teaching the children themselves but since i dont think they have a degree in teaching for example maths, language, history, sience and more they wont be able to teach their kids as well as teachers would in the fast land
Bobo24 You don't need degrees to teach your kids. Parents can teach their kids just as well.
pandacat 04 No they don't need but since they don't have it the kids wont get as good as they would in school since the parents probably makes mistakes since it long since they were in school
