hello, here in brazil we have many species of cacti in nature, but we don't have many specialized stores, some species around here are very rare and when they appear they are very expensive, so when you show these places and stores specialized in cacti, it's incredible, great work
Dude Brandon is the man. He’s always been gracious, generous and welcoming on the couple I’ve got to meet him. Would love to meet Jay, desert theatre is incredible
Wow, I’m always so happy for new videos. Living in frigid Minnesota, these videos really help ease the time that passes while I wait to take my collection back outside in the spring. Thanks Hunter, keep the quest going! Also it’s super cool to see cactus nurseries that grow from seed! It seems like that’s pretty uncommon.
I used to have major cactus fever and now I’m all about growing old world succulents like adenium, pachypodium, and dorstenia. Nevertheless, really cool cacti shown in this video!!
this is the absolute dream garden of every succulent lover! it's hard to imagine the work that goes into it. my absolute respect and thanks for the video!
Hello I’m just wondering if you remember me and my Husband Allan Leroy we used to own A sticky Business Cacti and Succulents in Petaluma California back in the 1970s 1980’s?
If i live in CA i think i will go broke just buying these beautiful plants lol. I love Succulents i usually buy the rare ones. Or strange looking ones. Every time i go to Nursery i just want to buy all the plants. Yes i am addicted to Succulents as well 🥰
That must be great, in the business of something you have as a hobby as well. I also love your location in CA where you can grow a lot of you merhandise OUTDOORS without fear of them getting too much water or cold weather. I have a collection of succulents and tropical plants where here in our subtropical climate (in Lake Charles, LA, almost coastal), most of what we have to worry about is them getting too much rain. Mine are under an awning on a patio adjacent to a room where I can scoot them in case of an occasional light freeze. So far this year, I've had to bring them inside for a couple of nights, and we're at the end of January '23, so go figure. Best of luck in your business. 🪴🌴
I visited Kate at Desert Theatre Nursery in Watsonville, Ca in 1992 and she grew San Pedro cactus profusely. It’s has closed and a man in the Central Valley now grows her plants. Is this the same company as yours? Desert Theatre is a great name!
It is the same. Jay was married to kate. He started the vista location early 1980s. Kate since past. Vern the man that was selling Kate's collection past away last year. The name he used was cactus Kate's.
It’s a propagator’s trick. Heat up a nail and burn out the growing point in order to encourage multiple new growing points. Mostly used with species which tend to be solitary or unbranched.
I think it's a technique where you jam a hot nail into the growing point to stimulate pupping A similar technique that does less physical damage is called coring where you take a knife and core out the top growing point, I've done it to Madagascar palms, don't do it going into the Winter though on them specifically. Induces dormant growth points to activate

Thanks brother hunter. Looks awesome. Just a reminder desert theater nursery is open by appointment only.
Cool nursery My friend knows Thomas. Taking me up to meet him this spring
Great video Hunter and hi Brandon! I had the privilege to see their garden- “succulent forest” as I like to describe it and it was amazing. 🌵❤
Now I know where the local stores get the good stuff!
If I just want channels like this I find my heart feels lighter … 🤙🏽
Brazil here 👍🏻 I'm in the metropolitan city of Belém in the Amazon region.

Brandon is cool as fuck, used to sell him a lot of soil and pots
Great video!
Excellent video. Some stunning specimens in their collection. I love driving through Vista to explore the nurseries.
Do you know the name of the plant by the cactus? 4:27
Possibly a euphorbia syphilitica(sp)?
Great gardens, love to see garden videos from Ca. One of the best states to garden in... watching from far northern Ca
I enjoyed watching😌🤲🌵
Dude, that euphorbia is lit bro! Good work again, Hunt! 💥
What a beautifull garden!
Love it! Wish it was longer! There's one of those banyan trees in the Golden Hill Park in San Diego with some crazy air roots.
Amazing gardens and plant collection! Great video, thanks for sharing, Hunter!
Beautiful nursery. I really like the spineless Ferocactus Glaucescens Inermis. I might have to go on the hunt for one once Spring arrives.
Stunning!
That ponytail in the beginning was HUGE. I'm gonna need a bigger pot. 😫
Im speechless. Wow! 🔥

Excellent video. Watched all the way through. Going to become a patron supported bro. Hell yeah. 🎉🎉🎉
I'm not even a cactus guy but been watching your videos. What's the spiral cactus called? I call them froggy death slides and they look dope
Cereus Forebesii Spiralis, or just 'spiral cactus'.
@@3l3llala13 froggy death slide it is 😂
Drako..lol..good one
Muy Bueno !!
hermosos!
Are those not adventitious roots, instead of air roots on the Draceana Draco?
Possibly two things being true at once
Part 2 of this? Escondido location?
Coming soon.
Ooooh yes!!! Yet another new video 🤘🤘💚💚

Chingon!
What are these buddies called? 11:34
Spineless ferocactus inermis
any mature screw pine would blow those dracaena adventitious roots out of the water
getting addicted !!!
We're can we buy some of your pots ?
His insta man
They open to the public?
Appointment only
Pandanus screw pines grow waaaay bigger air roots then that Draco.
🇧🇷
fuck dude all the brevifolias is insane
Hot nail?
I think it kills the growth tip so it will make many baby plants at the top. It’s a faster way to propagate them than seeds.

Coring does more physical damage I meant
