I probably logged 100's of hours into this game as a kid. Looking back now on this as I'm about to turn 31 tomorrow, life has changed a lot. That kid I used to be. Protected from the world. I feel like its almost better to think fondly on those times than it is to relive them.
MY. CHILDHOOD. I was so obsessed with the city the actual racing barely took up a back seat in my mind, the idea of the future was fascinating. It's so interesting seeing all this again after all these years.
My fiends and I spent countless hours, learning all the shortcuts and back-ways. At first, it was so frustrating because the smallest mistake and your chances of winning were out the window. After sticking with it for months, we could race every track perfectly and we had all the shortcuts memorized. It was so satisfying to finally master this game because at first, it felt impossible to even win a single race. Also, we spent a ton of time playing the multiplayer arena where you just drive up walls and do crazy tricks off of jumps, all for points. Seriously, such good memories from all the time we spent playing this one game.
@@GlitchanBlack oh I’m aware hahah, I have it on Dreamcast. But compared to other Dreamcast games, it’s not nearly as technically impressive as the n64 version is compared to its n64 contemporaries.
Yup! Was just looking that up and polygon dumps show a 9,275 poly environment for track 4’s intro and several others near that mark. Thats 280,000 polygons per second at 30fps. Those are SEGA Model 2 arcade board numbers! N64 could have done near-perfect ports of Daytona, SEGA Rally etc!🤯
@@jaymum23 honestly I don't even remember what channel I was watching, maybe Kaze Immanuar the Mario 64 German hack guy? I love your infodump though you seem to be really into emulation?
@@seronymusI am I just wish I had time like I did in my teens and 20s. I got a new gaming pc that I haven’t even unboxed yet because of work lol. But I’d like to emulate this game. It flew under my radar. I played the Dreamcast version when I bought it at launch and honestly aside from that being 60fps (higher than the arcade even- DC didn’t even break a sweat with this game!) this looks nearly identical.🎉
The Dreamcast would be the HD version compared to this port. But the N64 soundtrack alone makes this worth the play, especially if you enjoy Bomberman Hero’s music.
I played this game consistently when I got it for Christmas in 2000. My dad and I used to play Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA more often than this game. It seemed like this game was a bit laggy for the N64 when you had the Expansion Pak installed. It was a great game for the time, I just could never beat it completely. Getting those coins was a pain in the behind lol
Name a GOOD game playable on modern game consoles that is a spiritual successor to the RUSH series ... because I can't. I think we have all lost something incredible. Why are there not even official ports of these games any more? I still Adore the RUSH Games as some of my favorite Racing games EVER.
Sad that they don’t make racing games like this anymore… nowadays it’s a bunch of boring realistic track racers and NFS games that are basically the same game with a different title

Same here
I logged like 200 hours of this or more as a kid too, im now 19.
Big facts! The nostalgia of the 90’s was the best time as a kid. How time flies I’ll be 33 in 9 days…. I still miss those sweet memories. 😢
Hell yeah 😂😂 childhood memory unlocked.. until my cousin stole this game from me after Christmas break 👿😂
Dude! This game is so nostalgic!!
It is a masterpiece

I was obsessed beyond logic with getting gold coins. Literally, matches took 2-3 hours sometimes. I cannot love this game more.

Fun fact: Rush 2049's music was by the same guy who composed the SNES game Top Gear, Barry Leitch.
I was a beast at this game i had all the rush games . It was my pops favorites game to play when he had time. Them good old days.
I still maintain this is easily one of the best looking n64 games. Also, it’s so unbelievably fun
It also came out on the Sega Dreamcast!

@@menoseloso119not to mention I prefer the N64 soundtrack over the arcade and Dreamcast version. Reminds me of Bomberman Hero’s music playlist. 🤩
Bought a dreamcast just to play this game and definitely was very unique for its time.
Better than the arcade version?
This was a really really good game !
Apparently this game was insanely well optimized for the n64

I frickin loved this game. Played in the early 2000’s with my cousins after school was so fun.
i unlocked every single track, stunt, battle, car, attachment and coin in this game lol. needless to say i was obsessed. the music still bangs too
Remember crashing and blowing up like it was yesterday 🥲
Same here man
Awesome Video!
Nice that you showed these shortcuts :)
Such a great game I hope they remaster it someday
Nitronic Rush: Classic

I remember this on Midway Arcade Treasures!! ❤❤

Is this real hardware capture, please?
No, it was played through Simple64
