I’m personally not a big fan of the San Francisco Rush racing games as the CPU is too difficult and I can’t place first in a lot of races. It’s crucial to use shortcuts in this game to get ahead of everyone, but due to poor handling and controls you might prefer not getting off the road too much. Pro tip is to turn on deaths and hoping the CPU crashes themselves and dies lol. Make sure you don’t crash your own car though. This video includes only the highest difficulty championship. Ofcourse all prior difficulties had to be beaten beforehand to unlock this one. The highest difficulty has all 6 tracks (5 if you don’t have expansion pack) played 4 times. Normal, backwards, mirrored, backwards & mirrored. Very repetitive but the other San Francisco game for the N64 was recorded similarly, so I had to
What a great game. Pinnacle of arcade racing. You gotta play this on the Dreamcast. One of the BEST racing experiences I ever had. Do a run where you get all the medals in all the tracks and all the stunt arenas too.
I agree! I have both the N64 version which is OK as well as the Dreamcast version on Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for the Gamecube which has better graphics & performance & is the far superior version IMO.
@@DisneyMusicVideos Not the same without the Dreamcast's signature screeching in the background. But I would be interested to see a comparison between what they look like on DC vs GC.
@@DisneyMusicVideos I gotta look into that Midway Arcade Treasures 3 version. I thought all the games on that compilation disc were just emulated ports with no actual enhancements
I agree, have to have a run where all medals for all race and stunt courses are collected, and don't forget about the impossible obstacle course. Not a complete longplay without those.
Christ, this really shows off how many polys the N64 could push around in the right hands. How come the likes of WipEout on it have so much pop-in. Even F-Zer0 X has far more obvious pop-in, and that was a first party game.
a technical marvel (along with Beetle Adventure Racing and World Driver Championship). Rush 2049 could be the game with the highest polygon count on N64, we are near Model 2 territory, with over 200k polygon\sec. N64 was an incredible machine, but very few companies were capable of using that power.
Out of the 3 games, 2049 was the hardest for me. What I did was make full use of Time Attack to get all of the coins in advance, then go through Championship mode with all of the cars and parts for an advantage. That one track that takes place at night is the absolute worst of them all, especially if the game has fog activated on it. You can barely see in front of you. The AI, like all of them, rarely make a mistake, and catching up to them is really a matter of luck and skill. Mess up too much, and it will cost you. It's best to play it safe and only take shortcuts when you feel like you'll have the advantage. Great game, but it's very hard for those unprepared. Owning all 3 (first playing the arcade version of Rush) is worth it. 2 is still my favorite.
This is the best one imo. Huge jumps. Great visuals. Amazing speed. Spectacle short-cuts that keep you at the edge of your seat, an inch from death at all times. Stunt arena with serous skill progression, which you can use to collect the medals, and it's actually extremely skill-based and challenging. Which you are rewarded for with more stunt arenas and stuff. Not to mention 2049 has impactful customization options to tweak for your driving style. With the array of vehicles, no two feeling the exact same, there is limitless control tweaking potential in this game. If they were to re-make this game today using the same design principles with updated arcade physics and damage modeling, it would be more apparent that this is possibly the best arcade racing game of all time.
I put so many hours into this game trying to get all the coins and unlock all the gear. The stunt courses were a lot of fun. Good to see it get the LPA treatment, but you need a run with the stunt courses and collecting all the coins. And you didnt even use the wings!!
Nice effort. I thought about collecting the coins but it didn't seem possible to take the detours to collect the coins whilst at the same time making sure I win the championship
Right. Indicating this is a real racing game, without the handholding of overpowered catch-up-AI. Also: Wrong. Once they get ahead of you, the game tempts you into taking more and more dangerous short-cuts to catch up to them. This is one of the best arcade racers of all time.
atari had made a worthy racing franchise to rival daytona usa, ridge racer and cruisn', but the jaguar console had died. if it was still around 1996 onwards it would have played host to this racing series along with mace:the dark age and games that were in production before being cancelled. the lynx handheld had a super monaco style racing game and that was nice when the grid girl greeted the race winner with a kiss. atari would have been a worthy competitor alongside nintendo and sega in the 8-bit, 16-bit, the handheld and the 32/64 bit wars had the company itself not been lumbered with deadweight management.

same reason im not a big fan. its ridiculous how much separation there is so early on in races.

A late 90s early 2000s nostalgia arcade to game console to me. 🙂

I still have this game, though rarely played it.
You play it 1 minute everyday.

Hey,You Forget the Intro of Rush San Francisco 2049 game.
it's not really an important intro as it shows nothing but gameplay
@@longplayarchiveIts still cool to look at 😊
This was the only car racing game I played on the N64. Not the only racing game, but the only one with cars.
This series needs to comeback
San Francisco Rush the future 2049. But Rush 2 in 1998 was a lot better than the others.

This N64 version costs a fortune now in the UK that's why I'm happy with the Dreamcast version.

Timeless game, i'm a fan of Midway games, now, midway was turned to Raw Thrills.
What I got from watching your playthrough is once opponents are ahead of you, then it's impossible to get the speed you need to catch up to them.

Wrong. Once they get ahead of you, the game tempts you into taking more and more dangerous short-cuts to catch up to them.

Good observation. It's basically what I don't like about this game. Some stages have easily accessible shortcuts, others don't.

SAN FRANCISCO RUSH 2049 IS THE FUTURISTIC RACING GAME I'VE EVER PLAY THIS FOR YEARS
