  • Please Sub... We are almost at 15K! Well... it is finally up! This Heidenau K60 Ranger Tires Review took place between July and Sept of 2022 putting on over 5k Miles. I rode this tire long distance on the street (1400 miles in 36 hours) then punished it off-road at the ‪@RevZilla‬ #GetOnADVFest in SD at the #buffalochip for 4 days. Followed by another 1600 miles home... followed by the ‪@XLAdvRider‬ #highsierra event. I rode in rain, mud, gravel, sand, silt... pretty much every terrain. Here it is... my in-depth Heidenau K60 Ranger Tire Review.

    I had a similar experience with them, Kyle. I got about 4500 miles out of one and about 5000 miles out of another rear. Kept the same front the entire time. My front tire looked like yours but twice as bad once I finally pulled it. The tire has a strange buzz and vibration at about 25 to 30 mph. The rear did great off-road, but I didn't think power sliding wasn't as predictable on dirt as the Anakee Wild. Just seemed to break loose unpredictably when forcing it. You talked about the front loading up with mud sliding. I posted a video on these a while back. The first day I took them out, it rained pretty hard here in Northern Nevada. I got a pretty good unpredictable slide out of them, and man, were they ever loaded up. Granted, I wonder if too many tires would have performed much better in that situation. I also noticed the front tire seemed looser than the Anakee Wild on gravel roads. It definitely darts less in ruts. I don't really know if I like that better or not. It seems to run straighter off-road than the Anakee Wilds. But it also doesn't get the traction.
    I also felt the uneasiness of the rear tire when cornering hard. I didn't realize until you pointed out that there is a big spacing there. I thought the lugs were folding over or something, as that is what it feels like to me. Thanks so much for sharing you do excellent reviews.

    Bought a set when they launched in South Africa. Very happy with the solid carcass, means I can take big hits at low pressures and it’s fine on my Africa Twin. I only got 2700 km out of the rear and that was mostly loose shale rock, gravel and hardpack. The rear tire gets super sketchy on tar when worn down though. Nice tyre but I’m on Motoz now.

    I think since so many of us run mismatch tires front and rear in the offroad segment, it might be helpful in the future to make separate reviews(sections) for the front and rear tire! I know its more work but I think you definitely talked more about the front being sketchy which might entirely turn people away from the tire even if the rear is still good. I will be throwing on a ranger rear and wild front end of this month, and will be tackling a look consisting of deep graded fireroads, deep sand hills, babyhead/stone step hills, and slick clay/mud. Trailmax was an absolute nightmare in the wet stuff, and mediocre on the sand(I never stopped so didnt get to find out how well it digs, rather not). Will report back on how the rear performs, we all know the wild is good haha
    For $250 if it wears better on the rear than the wild($260) I might go with this combo since I commute to work on my bike anyways(25km daily)

    Like I suspected our experience is almost identical. Great for highway, packed gravel, and hardpack. No grip in the very loose stuff. I am fairly new to riding off-road, but my riding has been 99% what this tire was built for. They performed way better than the Dunlop 606's I took off in those conditions, especially on the highway and gravel roads. I'm nearly to 3K on my set and the rear is getting flat and a little sketchy when leaned. For reference I'm on a DR650 with much narrower rims than what this tire was probably designed for (although I couldn't find a rim width recommendation). They have performed well for me and now I'm trying to decide what to try next. I'm leaning towards a dual venture/rallz combo in the tube style but would love to hear your thoughts.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Рік тому +1

    I think you could do a whole segment on 'noise to traction' ratios. (But it might be a perfectly straight line ratio) Us hearing sufferers would be stoked... Any recommendations? Rallz vs Adv? Or one of these ranger/Ax/Karoo/tk80 looking things... cheers.

    Just replaced my Anlas Capra X, with the rear Heidenau K60.
    I felt the rear kind of sketchy in gravel and fine sand, like if it wanted to skip out sideways... Similar to your front tyre experience, bike was also loaded and running 2.5 bar pressure... maybe to high or just tyre not good on that environment? Thanks in advance
    By the way also swapped my worn AX41 front by a Mitas E13, it's an awesome rally tyre, although wobbles and knobies flex quite more than the AX41 which excels on the road, may go back to it and leave this MitE13 for focus off road trips.

      @@manybikes they wobble in rain grooves and when pushing them hard on the street you can feel the knobies flexing , also they start to wobble a bit about + 160 km/h. I think you will love them when you try them.
