I have a 2014 Camaro 2LS, with the 6l50 transmission I believe. It had this shudder from around 110-120k miles. Took it into the Chevrolet dealership, and they said “torque converter clutch took a dump” and they had to replace that along with an entirely new transmission. Parts and labor was around $4k. Had a warranty through the bank I financed through, only cost me a $500 deductible 😅
Just find it ridiculous that my son's Tacoma can go 345,000 miles being beaten, hauling loads all the time off-road and has never done anything to the engine or transmission, but American manufacturers can't make a decent small/midsize truck. The only Canyon/Colorado that didn't have massive transmission issues is the 2.5, 6 speed.
I work at a Chevy dealer and I gotta say you are 100% right extended warranty doesn’t cover everything and any aftermarket warranties are garbage they don’t cover everything and most of the time they only pay a curtain amount of the bill and screw over the customer
@@thumperdumper2279 most likely your trans is on back order and I’m sorry to say but it could be months before you get a new trans, I know the trans guy at my work has over 40 cars that he’s just waiting on parts it’s unfortunate but there’s nothing the dealership can do
I noticed transmission slip on my test drive. I still bought the truck as I new about the TSB for fixing this. I got a good deal and went to the dealer that did a transmission fluid change and flush in a bout 2 hours. The truck runs smooth as butter for the last 29k since I bought it. I have the V6 2019 8 speed.
I bought a 2018 Colorado the day before Christmas eve. 3 days later I started feeling the shutter. It's the torque converter. I bought a 2 0z. Bottle of Shudder fix for less than 20 bucks from Autozone. Added it, and haven't had a single problem since. The Oem fluid allows too much friction. And this magic potion breaks it down just enough to fix it. No clue how. And No, I don't work for the company. Next step was complete flush from the dealership. And then I guess a new transmission. Lol.
Colorado from 2017 to 2019 or 2020 had this problem. I guess after doing research,I found out that in Florida was a class action lawsuit against GM . The Silverado trucks had this issue. I took my Colorado to the dealer. The dealer was hesitant about and more when I mentioned the lawsuit. In the end, they fix my truck. These trucks had the wrong oil. But they changed the transmission oil and reprogrammed the transmission according to them. Lucky me, my truck was still under powertrain warranty when it happened at 30,000 miles.
I have 2018 Colorado. I felt the shake and shudder of the transmission. I saw a couple of videos and forums saying changing the transmission fluid would get rid of the shake and shudder feeling, which it did. I got a transmission flush and the shuddering went away for about 6 months and now it's back.
I have a canyon, the vibration for me started at 10k. Took it in they recalibrated the trans , worked good for another 10k now having the issue again completely frustrated !
I have the 2019 Colorado Z-71 with V6 engine. I bought it in 2022 with 11000 miles. Today, May,2024 I have 29000 miles on it with no problems. Praying that the transmission lasts.

I bought a used 2018 chevy colorado v6 with the 8 speed transmission. 104,000 miles. Immediately noticed the famous shuddering. Took it in and they replaced the torque converter and flushed the transmission. Lucky i had an extended warranty. 4,300 they had to pay out. Hoping it doesn't come back.
Ive got 2020 4cl colo I bought new. No major issues so far but there is some shifting inconsistencies. Any recommendations on maintenance for the trans or anything else
The actual problem is the main pressure valve in the transmission. It fails. Everything else you do is just buying time. Unless you fix the valve it's going to come back. I'm actually pulling my transmission to fix it before it trashes the pump and more stuff. Trans go tow & pro shift kit is the fix. Hopefully this information helps someone in the future. If you catch it early all you need is the kit.
I changed my transmission fluid at 31k, its been a month now and no problems, but i did not have any problem with it before the change, i changed it because i bought a used colorado without a prior knowledge of fluid change, mine is a v6 2020 8 speed
I'm in Sussex county NJ. My 2017 Colorado has just under 42,000 miles and just started to get the shudder. Which dealer did you go to for the fix? I actually bought mine used in 2019 from Novak Motors in Lebanon NJ. They are an off lease company. I could take it there but it's a 50 minute drive and a Chevy dealer would probably be more familiar with the issue. When mine shudders it almost feels like your going over a rumble strip.

How is your oil change 140 USD, in Canada I pay 80 CAD which is 58 USD and that’s for full synthetic and synthetic filter. This is for a 2019 v6 Colorado. That’s a rip offff…
Same here. The dealership didn’t charge me a dime for the transmission flush to the new fluid that GM recommended. That was about 40k miles ago. No problems so far.
love this video thank you! i noticed the shudder in the truck at 93k miles and now it’s gotten worse.. i might have to replace the torque converter unfortunately since the transmission fluid is only a temporary fix :(
I bought an extended warranty for my Canyon, because of that 8 Speed transmission. It will last as long as payments will go. Remember, you don't want to be stuck with Car Loan and Broken vehicle with expensive repair.
I got the extended warranty on my Caddy and it already covered a 350$ battery. On the Colorado my infotainment goes nuts but it still plays music 🎵 so I leave it alone. It's insurance so if you get it you probably won't need it but.....

You can eliminate the "shudder" by learning to drive in "M" mode. Keep the rpm up around 2k, no shudder, better mpg, better throttle response.
it shouldn't have to come to this
