Some shops or home mechanics would put gravel in the tank then put it on a rotisserie and let it spin slowly for as long as it took to break loose all the rust and other junk then wash it out with water then gas after removing all the solid stuff. Those cone air filters are as rare as a unicorn these days unless you know of a source to get them. Maybe they fit other vehicles.
Mike, I have a question regarding the filter housing you put on that bike. Will it fit a 2003 classic cruiser? I found one for sale and if it will fit I'm going for it. Great videos 👍
No, sorry. From 2002 up, the fuel pump was relocated inside the tank, no longer in the frame rails. There are two pick up screens attached, inside the tank, and you have to take the tank off and apart to access them.
Again thanks for your vids Mike😂 enjoy the content
Glad you enjoy them!
Awesome job Mike!
Thank you, I'm pretty happy with the results. But she still needs a little more TLC.
You could try almond sand that they use for sand blasters.

Yeah, a rotisserie would sure have saved my arms a bit, LOL! And you are right, the cone filters are all gone. Every one of them.

Yes, if I've completely maimed it, I'll throw it away. But if it's only slightly mangled, I'll keep it.
