What’s crazy is I can’t look at comics the same way now cuz of you guys!! just this morning I was reading and couldn’t help but notice how often the artist was using those 22 panels from the last vid just insert sups and Lois lol but great vid guys keep them coming 👍 love the channel
Just cruised EBay, snapped up one with a negative space cover. It's nice to hunt for comics not for speculative BS but for the appreciation of the artistry of the writing and illustration.
You guys are fucking awesome. I respect that you guys are so interested and appreciative of so many art styles and art eras in comics. Would be awesome to see you guys take a look at the Goon comicbook. Honestly this is the best channel I have ever subscribed to.
One of my all time favs! Not the least of which is because of Gulacy from MOKF, and MacGregor from Black Panther (& DHOKF)! Always loved how Gulacy drew recognizable well-known people into scenes, if you didn't note it - eyepatch is DEF Kirk Douglas! ...but I can't believe you got through the whole thing without noting Sabre himself being so obviously based on Jimi Hendrix from the cowboy photoshoot on the back of "Smash Hits"!
I think they were kind of doing what they wanted at Marvel in the 70s...with a lot of experimentation and personal visions...but without the rights and with censorship. That’s why you just see a more adult version of the Marvel of the day
" Jimi Hendrix as Dirty Harry in the world of The Warriors meets Escape from New York ! " Does it get any better ? Gulacy is a master artist-storyteller.
Saw some of the originals of this years ago and one of the things that struck me is that the linework was all the same width, for the most part. It looked like he probably inked with a Rapidograph. Beautiful work.
I need to get a copy. I remember seeing that book back in my college days at a comic shop that was a few miles away from the campus. I should have grabbed it.
A thought: you should do a review of post-apocalyptic comics set in or near 2020. Killraven was another one. Probably some Kirby. Could be interesting.
Can you guys do a preview on don Lawrence trigan empire volume 1 slaine the horned god the new treasury edition and Mazeworld by Alan grant and Arthur ransom by 2000ad

Gulacy is the boss in my book! I was lucky to find these two color eclipse issues back in the late 80s!
OMG!! Paul Gulacy art, a Hendrix lookalike, the mentioning of Slash Maraud and Escape From New York...I MUST get this book!
Wow I have never seen the black & white version. Only knew about the Eclipse issues. I learn something new from every single one of your videos.

I own the original art for one of those pages!
Only ever saw the trade paperback. Charles Vess back up may have me on the hunt for the monthly. Thanks guys for all your time. Fun video.
Just finished reading, 36pages, page 34 is dope asl, very wordy took me almost an hour to read, the fight never ends truly

I'd buy this book based on that description alone!!
