09:00 - I am a small seller, I test everything that I sell, mainly IT stuff, I note down every serial number, id, or anything that can identify that the item is the one sold by me. If I have a return or claim that the item is not working I always check the serial id and I block the buyer on my ebay account, after our case is closed/returned/refunded. Until now I did blocked 8 persons on 4 years span, and those returned items was resold without any issues, after checking them again. Some people are getting bored at home.
Excellent video, clear concise and very professional and above all VERY useful. I wish you all the best with your channel. I watch lots of ebay videos and came across yours tonight for the first time. This is one of the best ebay channels out there.
Thank you so much Carolyn! You're kind words just made my day. My main goal with my channel is to help other. I was a teacher for 11 years, but reselling has always been my biggest love. I started making youtube videos as an avenue to continue teaching since I'm not teaching in schools anymore. If there's ever anything that I can help with, let me know. Best regards, Justin
I was selling clothing from Ethika and got a Vero notification that i was selling "counterfeit" items and ebay took down my listings. I emailed Red Point Solutions which protects clients from counterfeit items stating that I bought them directly from Ethika and provided a copy of my sales order. Then a couple days later Red Point Solutions emailed Vero to tell them to withdrawal their complaint and to have my content restored. Now I am allowed to sell any of their products because I bought directly from them and have a copy of the sales order.
WOW, that was so informative, thank you! I purchased a Rolex (or so I thought) watch from a local auction and eBay buyers were going crazy immediately after I listed it! Then, I got a cease & desist letter from a law firm in NY with a $350 charge! After determining that it was indeed a fake, I returned it to the auctioneer and gave the law firm his name, auctioneer id #, address and took a pic of it when he re-sold it at that auction! They finally believed me that I was totally innocent and unaware it was a knock off. Buyers...know what you're selling! What a lesson!
Where are you, where have you been? Your content is so comprehensive and excellent! Your step by step delivery is just about second to none. I just came upon your channel about a week ago. I hope all is well with you? You’re great!
Hey, Coach. Got a question. Why are Ebay companies allowed to have so many negative? When we were selling in the early 2000's, we were only allowed 3 negatives a year, then we got suspended for a time. I've seen sellers with over 300 - 500 negatives. The chinese have many companies from the same location(usually California), they just change the name and make another account, also with a bunch of negatives. I try not to buy from china or california companies. To bad it is that way, but until Ebay steps up and stops them, it will continue. It ought to be fraud.
Thank you! I'm new to selling on Ebay (only been at it a month and a half) and had been thinking about drop shipping. You brought out points I hadn't thought of, especially now with all the supply chain issues! Definitely not going to get involved with that now. Thank you for your videos, they're VERY helpful.
Hey Michelle! Welcome to eBay! Dropshipping can be appealing because you don't have to store the inventory. BUT...that's also the biggest problem when things go wrong. When you start cancelling a lot of orders, and your seller's rating drops due to all of the problems that arise, you risk getting your eBay account banned. There are just so many opportunities out there with reselling besides dropshipping. Also, thanks for the kind words and for watching my channel! Best regards, Justin
Thank you for the tip on Vero items!! I have some very nice leather shoes from a small company that I’m listing, and I was so glad to see the company is not on the Vero list.
I made the mistake of using hardwood floor as the background although the pictures are great. So my question is. If I go to “revise” listing and change to new photos with white background will that save my listing or do I need to end it and sell similar with the new photos?
What if you have to remove an item because it sold on another platform? I haven't started another platform yet, but just wondering before I do. You have to delete or cancel the item.
Yet another fantastic video of valuable info. I am currently binging on your channel, as you always publish timely info that resonates with me at the time. Thank You.
I doubt if Ebay will ever admit to being responsible for anything. I have not shipped a lot with the global program, but if something went wrong Im sure they would blame it on you and just reverse your payment, knowing how ebay deals with things.
Tracking is almost on anything shipped through ebay, even 1st class USPS, if you print their label it will insert it in there. Otherwise there is a drop down next to item you sold to add tracking.
how then do you sell a vero item if the company does not like you selling on ebay? is it just the name and/or logo that gets you in trouble? can you sell the item but not show the name so if you want to sell a gicci bag you cover up the badge and sell it as a no name product and then the buyer gets a good item or can you call up gucci and get it certified as genuine?
Yeah and most new sellers and buyers make a lot of mistakes and it does cost you. So you have to learn quickly from your mistakes. Also many newer eBayer think they can make their own rules and that’s a big mistake bc I’ve won many cases bc I’ve learn from my mistakes, but the person I’m dealing think bc they are the buyer, they are right and find out they weren’t. Oh and there are many scammers that take advantage of the old non updated rules that scammers take full advantage of. Oh and I usually prefer using flat rate bc it’s priority and usually cheaper if it’s out of your state. I’ve compare to priority and it’s cheaper in the flat rate. But it also depends on the item and distant or it’s only like under a dollar different. I’ve been on eBay for 12 years and I’m still learning bc you have to be in that situation.
What I often do regarding a not-very-popular or "nerd" item for auction-sale on eBay is to inform the seller that I am disabled and low-income, and then ask, "If you do not get any other offers by the end of the current bidding-period, could I please buy it at a discounted price of $___? Since this is not a very common item, it's entirely possible that I might be about the only person viewing this item to have much of an interest in it, so perhaps you might want to sell it to me at my lower offered price, so that you can at least get SOMETHING for it, rather than its just sitting around gathering dust in your warehouse." This strategy very often works, and so I have been able to obtain quite a few much-desired items without draining my SSI check too much.
Hey Treska! Sorry, I have two scales and forgot to put the main scale that I use in the video. Silly me. The dymo I showed only goes up to 3 lbs but is great for first class (it's really accurate with small stuff). However, the scale that you found (linked in the description) also is really accurate with light stuff and handles heavy loads too. If you haven't found the link, let me know and I'll find it. Best regards, Justin.
I've received Vero infractions from selling fossil brand watches in Europe. One way to avoid Vero is to list your item as pre-owned, but write in the description that the watch is new. You may get a little less, but you won't get a Vero violation. Another option is to not offer shipping to that area.
Thanks for the heads up! Those are really great tips and workarounds as well. I'll keep that in mind the next time I list a Fossil watch. It's crazy how some companies and brands are so much more aggressive with Vero claims than other are.
Is it possible that EBay would buy an item just to see if it authentic? I sold a previously owned Hermes scarf. It sold pretty fast and the feedback was also fast. The feedback was pretty cut and dried. It essentially said, “item as described”. Made me wonder if I was being checked on. Great video, thanks
If you ship internationally, you better hope that the customer does not make a defective item return. You will lose your original shipping, have to refund them whatever the additional shipping that they paid to get it to their country, pay whatever it cost to ship it back to Kentucky, and then pay to ship it from there to you. A return on a $30 item will mean a net loss for you. I don't ship internationally.
i like your content. thank you for the coaching.1 problem I personally have is with selling INTERNATIONAL. hopefully this helps somebody. Sold a Bundy Alto saxophone to a customer in Chile for $145, since ebay's final value fee commission percentage includes shipping ($97 worth)+sale price+applicable taxes I made less than $100. It's one way ebay has us...the "Final Value Fee"
You're correct, final value fees are the biggest way that eBay collects from sellers. When dealing with international sales, I highly suggest using eBay's Global Shipping program. With global shipping, you ship your item to an eBay fulfilment center and they handle the international customs and international shipping. Plus, if anything goes wrong with delivery (which can happen a lot overseas) you're completely protected by eBay and won't lose any money on the sale (as long as it makes it to the distribution center in Kentucky). Plus, you don't ever have to worry about undercharging on shipping. Sorry to hear that your sale didn't pan out like you were hoping, but don't let it stop you from selling. Every sale on eBay is a learning experience and the more you sell, the better you get at it (an the more money you make). I hope this helps. ~ Justin
I kind of feel like it was a little too simple of an idea to even share it but you know I’m sure when you have five things you print out at once and then all sudden you’re like which label 🏷 was first? 📦
I was an active Ebay seller for years and then stopped over the last 5 years or so. I then just sold a Dept. 56 item. I seem to remember the item gets bid on and sold and the buyer pays and then you ship it. This latest sale, ebay has the buyer hold off paying until they receive it. Well this buyer claimed the item broke providing pictures. The buyer said they would accept a reduced price rather then return it. I did so but then I realized, they probably had a broken one, sent photos of that one, bought mine, and got it for a reduced price. Is this a potential common scam. I don't want to use ebay if the buyer has all the control of product and money and I can end up getting ripped off. PLEASE HELP! I am subscribing..
Pretty minor mistake i made was having to reprint my shipping labels because my return address was wrong. only lost a dollar since i was shipping with ebay standard envelope but still lost a dollar
Sorry to hear that you made that mistake. The thing about making mistakes on eBay is that you tend to learn and not do it again! If you are still in the time window, you can void/cancel a label that you made a mistake on or didn't use. It's one mistake that can easily be fixed. You'll have to do it from a computer though, as I don't think there's a way to void labels through the mobile app. Follow this link: www.ebay.com/ship/lmng/labels-history/seller-hub Once there, find your order and click on the "actions" drop down menu. You'll then see where you can void the label. It takes a few days to get refunded, but it always processes as long as you don't ship the item with the label that you canceled. I hope this helps! ~ Justin
Great content, but it's hard to listen because the presenter has a speaking style where he turns every sentence into a question. No hate here, just makes it hard.

Question 🙋♀️ connect 3:20 on shipping costs how do I add tracking? Let the buyer have tracking, could be more than some may not want to pay.
Tracking is almost on anything shipped through ebay, even 1st class USPS, if you print their label it will insert it in there. Otherwise there is a drop down next to item you sold to add tracking.
That's why I double or triple check those labels on fear of that.

I use the same tracking in both tracking for the same customer Ebay has let me do this several times

Thank you so much for your useful information.

Instead of calculated shipping why not use free shipping for items under 5lbs or so? More sales.

Ohh the organization BINS… that’s my issue mainly.
It's a challenge for any eBay seller. Having a SKU system really helps though. Without SKUs, I'd never be able to find my inventory. lol
Good video. A sidenote: Perfume(ground ship only) cannot be shipped international.
Thanks for sharing Sharon!
Label 🏷 switching write ✍️ 1 then write it 1 on the box 📦 bottom corner, sounds simple yet it can help.
