    Lmao that's why I'm going for radiography and after 2 years I'm going for ct tech. I get paid just as much but with less farts

      Um. You’d be surprised. Just did a ct rotation for school and i saw a patient throw up blood. And the techs had to clean it up themselves.
      Then contrast exams for the urinary system. They do a voiding exam where they put contrast into the ureters take some pictures and then the patient voids it out on the table.
      As a rad tech you’ll be in the OR or doing Barium Enemas. Or both.
      A lot of gross stuff on the day to day basis in any modality.
      If you’re going into radiography because it’s less gross or you don’t have to do as much patient care. It’s not true.
      It’s different. And you’ll be doing both in some hospitals. Ct and Xray.

      I don't think you know what nurses do? Real life nursing is NOT what is shown on tiktok/IG. Your scrubs will be covered in crap, vomit, and who knows what else and patients can be very abusive and you have to take it. Also you have to watch people die and sometimes theres nothing else that can be done

    My response to @apex_grind4745. Who stated, “maybe because they can’t get a BSN.” -
    You can get a bachelors in Medical Imaging. Half of the rad techs I work with have bachelors. Some even masters. I work with techs who were former nurses and this is the complete reason why. Maybe you chose nursing over radiology because you couldn’t get accepted into our limited enrollment programs? I think most colleges re-enroll students twice a yr for nursing & accept roughly 20 students yet we only accept 5-10 students once a year. Seriously though, all jokes aside, there’s so many opportunities Radiology has to offer. You can branch into another modality such as MRI, Nuc Med, CT, Mammo, US, Rad Therapy, etc. For some of us techs who are certified in multiple modalities, our schooling & training in all was a lot longer than a bachelors program. Think about someone who does have a BSs then got certified in CT, MRI perse. They basically went to school for 6 years. You can also go into management and achieve supervising roles, become clinical instructors, program directors, department supervisors, endless supersizing roles in educational and healthcare systems. We can travel. If you think travel nurses make a lot, try searching up how much a travel interventional radiographer makes or a travel MRI tech. I knew a guy who was making 6 grand a week. Also, our certifications are accepted in the UK, Canada, & Australia. And if you was to work a contracting job, you could work wherever in the world with better pay than a travel tech. I know a lot of former x-ray techs who are PA’s. I know of only one who’s a radiologist. Our job can lead into technical careers. There’s a lot of x-ray techs who work in product management for radiology software, Pacs/Dicom jobs, and product reps. The equipment we use in x-ray has to be built by someone with x-ray machinery knowledge so there are opportunities in maintenance as well. I once met a super specialized contractor who only serviced CR readers and traveled all around the country. It’s a pretty cool route from x-ray for those who like working with the hardware side of things. Those who are hell bent on being a nurse, there are even radiology-nursing jobs. I’m personally in route to get my bachelors & I’m hoping to apply to PA school after. I apologize if I came off a bit aggressive but just don’t assume all rad techs don’t have a bachelors. And even for those who don’t, a rad tech without any extra certification with an associates degree makes about the same pay as a RN. It’s quite remarkable all the career choices out there available for us Rad techs to latch on to. Don’t underestimate us. I am honestly so glad I found this field & I would recommend Radiography to anyone who seemed a bit interested.

      This was very informative thank you! I’m really interested in becoming a rad tech but I also kinda want to do ultrasound tech. I’m going into my senior year in Highschool, and I think for the most part I’m just worried about studying and retaining the information that I learn. I also don’t really understand the schooling for radiology like modalities and so on. I know that for sure I want to do something in medical imaging. But I can’t decided whether to become a rad tech or the ultra sound tech. I’m thinking abt going to community college for my associates degree as well.

    • @TUGBOATOfficialChannel
      @TUGBOATOfficialChannel Рік тому +1

      @@icielol9801 most medical imaging programs are associate programs. However, there are some that are bachelors. There are usually associate programs offered for radiography, ultrasound, MRI, & nuclear medicine. Interventional radiology and bone density you would already have to have a imaging degree in, in order to apply. If you want to do sonography then apply to a program when you graduate. All they can do is tell you no. The acceptance of students in sonography programs are very competitive. In my opinion, you might be better off going into a radiography program than do ultrasound after. You are practically guaranteed a spot in a ultrasound program with a radiography degree. Good luck
