Only need forged if you intend to map or mod car , if you look after the car as standard don't need forged although I own the vxr myself previous owners killed engine fuming 😅

Nice car pal , your right if anyone is considering get more performance out of a corsa (I’ve never owed one)
It appears taking the lump out spending money on it is a must, as the general consensus is they go pop if you tune them ,
But it’s no good doing the top end without the bottom,
Just advise, get ya bottom end as bullet proof as you can , then the rest of the build done in time or as your budget allows

I paid 6k for mine 14 plate corsa d vxr with 61000 miles was forged at rusty autos at 60500 miles just before I bought it it's got 3" scorpion exhaust decat turbosmart actuator and recalculation valve hybrid turbo 613 injectors smf and stage 2 clutch loads of other stuff . If you get the work done they are really good fun cars.
Yeah 100% agree you just have to look after them and service them regular, they’re great fun
£400 a year tax on the astra vxr is mega but its like you say smiles per gallon. If you have the m32 gearbox just empy every 3 years and overfill it to 2.8-3L of fuchs sintofluid and I'm running 400nm and 290bhp and iv had it 5 years with no problems and engine is now on 124000, the key is maintenance
