I would stay at this hotel for sure! The price is definitely ok, it shows that the staff and management is taking pride and care of such an historic place.
Decided to have a short break in Blackpool last autumn & after a bit of trawling chose the Imperial as our base. Can't remember exactly what we paid but it was in the region of what was quoted in this review. What a good choice we made. Left a review pointing out a few (very) minor details of the place that we felt were a little 'tired' & received a reply from the general manager thanking us & confirming they are gradually giving the whole place a makeover. Ate in the restaurant two evenings & the bar on two other. Menu, food, service all deserved 11 points out of 10. Overall a fantastic experience - this video shows it all - and would certainly stay again if in that part of the country (we live in extreme south west).
Great video. My sort of hotel, I also love period places. How lovely to see the Turkish baths. It all looked spotless to me and the breakfast looked spot on. I would stay there.
I've worked in Travel for well over 40 years. We had a travel conference at the Imperial for a weekend for about 100 of us. I must say it was a beautiful hotel, it has kept its period charm. Very clean, Staff were very welcoming and helpful , Food was great and the function rooms were amazing. I would highly recommend it. Felt very opulent and special.
Thank you Paul. This is the hotel we stay at every time we visit Blackpool and it always gets a top rating and the staff are always wonderful. Re travel, trams very frequent in both directions and taxis only take minutes to arrive…
I was a Police Firearms officer in the late 80s and 90s and the government and opposition held party conference at the Winter Gardens. Their hotel of choice was The Imperial. Spent many hours wandering the corridors and standing point. Protected many MPs and foreign envoys etc. i always thought the place looked run down and in the kitchens and back of shop areas a tad messy and smelly.. but..what a gorgeous building and very imposing Great to see it again ❤️
Stay at the Imperial on a regular basis. Fabulous hotel, food superb (try the evening menu) and as you say, the staff our brilliant at looking after you .
Thank you for a wonderful review of the Imperial hotel l stayed in this hotel over 50 years ago with my parents lots of lovely memories not much has changed. I love this type if grand old hotel. I will definitely revisit. Love from Scotland Paul.
I love these grand old hotels and the service you get in them. I've never been over to Blackpool but I would definitely book into this one. The price is amazing, hotels here Ireland are very expensive.
Hi Paul what a fab old building very nostalgic and interesting,,! Many thanks for your very in-depth review would be lovely to stay heretose function rooms are unbelievable wonderful if you picked up some vibes and that’s why you couldn’t sleep
I have stayed at this Hotel for many years. I always enjoyed my stay. On one occasion I was disappointed with my room and was upgraded to the Presidential Suite. Fantastic Room Service Breakfast. As said the Staff are lovely and always say Good Morning or Good Evening.
Stayed there many times. Lovely place, staff, food and service was excellent. Used to stay here as a child with my parents. Been back a few times since.Love this place. X
The Imperial is a fabulous hotel. Have always loved the smell, a sort of Sunday roast homely one !!! I learnt to swim there, a beautiful little pool in the basement, hope it is still there. I actually, nearly 40yrs ago had my 21st birthday there, my mother met her husband on the night and they are still together today. I met a fair few celebs over the years there, even dated a singer from an up n coming group , met in Trader Jacks at The Imperial. I am sure there was a bomb scare when Maggie Thatcher stayed there furing her hey day !!!!! Great video, Namaste.
So who was the up and coming singer 😜tell me to do one but interesting fact ... did he make it ? I still love Blackpool... my dad had a Farewell to Blackpool just before he died ... he spent his honeymoon there in the early 50s ... there IS something special about these Old Hotel “Palaces” especially in the hay day of entertainment that was taking place in the town ... still can’t beat an ice cream stick of Blackpool rock and a walk along the whole of the PROM no matter what the weather!! Hope the town makes a comeback in some way🤞Must admit the comment you made about “smelling of roast dinners “ was spot on ... when we went there as a family in the late 60s we couldn’t afford hotels so it was B+B’s but the smell was the same ☺️Yum Yum 😋
Stunning hotel, the architecture, the grandeur, lovely touch them upgrading you to the double room also. Looking forward to the rest of the Blackpool series. Thank you once again for sharing your experience. The general manager deserves a special shout-out too for taking you to the Turkish baths. You are smashing it Paul, I subscribed to your channel very early doors when you were hitting just a few hundred views. Your channel has grown significantly and deservedly so! Hard work pays off!
I remember staying here when I used to compete at the Winter Gardens and Blackpool Tower with my dance school. Have fond memories of the place so it’s great to watch your review and get your opinion on this hotel. 😊
What an amazing hotel after seeing this I would definitely stay here! It’s everything when it’s clean and the staff are friendly. Absolute bargain!! The management and staff are clearly passionate about their jobs and it reflects on the whole ambiance of the place. Super impressed❤
This hotel is just amazing absolutely loved you walking around the beautiful rooms it just oozes elegance I will be having a couple of nights there it's like going back in time the music was fabulous as well 😊😊
Beautiful hotel I love the highly ornate architecture/design of the Victorian era can imagine the exquisite reception bustling with the rich and famous. The dedication and passion for the restoration of the Turkish baths admirable great historical places are saved. Deffo stay here everything good standard, price excellent, thanks ⭐
i was born in blackpool and now i live in devon when i went back to see family i stayed in the imperial it was superb the breakfast was great , i loved it
What a lovely hotel. What a wonderful surprise to get the free upgrade. What a wonderful find the Turkish baths. It's lovely to know that at least one of the old hotels is looking so good on the inside and is well looked after. If I wasn't living in Blackpool I would stay there. You were so unlucky with the weather. We get amazing sunsets in Blackpool. And on clear days you'll get great views access the Irish Sea of the the Lake District mountains, North Wales and when the conditions are right the Isle of Man. Take the tram north, stop off at Bispham Station the highest point on the Fylde Coast for the fantastic views and great restaurants on Red Bank Road. Travel further on the tram to the beautiful town of Cleveleys with a great shopping street and a beautiful beach. Go to the end of the line on the tram to Fleetwood for Affinity outlet shopping, a great indoor market, lovely seaside town with fantastic views and a little ferry ride to Knott End another lovely little town with great views. Xxx
I stayed there in 2014 absolutely brilliant loved it and I agree the staff are lovely Another time Another Place it takes you back to the Golden Days when life was definitely more relaxed ❤
The hotel looks beautiful really lovely it shows the staff are brilliant keeping the hotel clean and looking lovely and the price is right too I would not mind staying there 😊
I stayed at the Norbeck Castle in Blackpool just up the road, and it was a lovely stay, we went past this hotel, and it's massive, but I was happy at the hotel we were in .
Loved this video Paul 😁 my favourite place as I’m from Blackpool ❤️ and my husband and I have stayed at the Imperial Hotel a few times and we Love it! beautiful hotel great staff, lovely rooms and great meals 🥘 my nana use to own one of the B&B’s just on the terrace between the Park house and Carlton (Best Western) and I lived there when I was a little girl so I have always been close to the Imperial 😁 looking forward to your other upcoming reviews in Blackpool 👍Thanks again take care, Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
Just arrived home after a two nights stay at the Imperial Hotel couldn’t agree more a lovely building. We stayed in a sea view room which was adequate and spacious. Staff were great, breakfast was really good.( I had to miss the first day’s breakfast due to a very early start but it was unavoidable) This was our second visit to the hotel and hopefully will return next year.
Thanks for the tour. I really would book in here to stay for a break. Beautiful function rooms. Love the character of the building. I prefer hotels that are traditional not a modern hotel myself.
Love this hotel. Stayed here for our 30th Wedding anniversary last year. Room was beautiful and on the sea front, staff were friendly and helpful and as a celiac with a lot of food intolerances ( a chefs nightmare) they couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
A class Hotel that has kept it's character, It may seem old fashioned but that is in keeping with it's history and style. It looks clean and well maintained with a lovely staff that make you feel welcome. I would stop here just for it's history. place to explore. Price is great and breakfast fine.
£52.70 for the night (bed and breakfast) is amazing considering this hotel has a 30s feel about it and has clearly been maintained to a high standard. I could well imagine some unscrupulous owner turning the ball rooms into bedrooms to increase occupancy and profits. This is definitely on my list to visit. Thanks Paul
Was here recently. Loved the historic political history of the hotel. It was Margaret Thatcher 's favourite hotel. She preferred the Imperial to the Brighton Grand. It wasn't to do with the bomb, she found the staff excllent at the Imperial.
Wot a beautiful hotel shame about the weather tho the room is lovely I would stay there it's nice to have lovely staff it makes your stay much nicer great you could acess the rooms to review them look forward to the live paul tonight
Hi Paul, Such a beautiful hotel. As you walked in, you could see the wonder of years ago. Love the function rooms, and the room you were staying in, so clean everywhere. Definitely would stay there. Loved it!! Thanks Paul.👍
I love a buffet breakfast. I know a lot of people complain, but it's great for someone like me who can be fussy with food. I know I can exactly what I want on my plate.
I use to go to the night club there, called trade Jack's, it had a beautiful swimming pool where I learned to swim, I went in tbe 70s it's not changed, still as beautiful, loved this video, I live in Blackpool, you presented it beautifully
Another interesting fact about this hotel is that it was used as a venue for rock groups to play during the 1970s (possibly in that large function room we saw). Judas Priest was one of the bands that played there. I love this hotel and go with my daughter at least tice a year to stay there.
I used to work there 20 years ago it was a nightmare. Bullying, harassment and intimidation had to be endured through every shift. Flat rate all hours and weekends. I remember there was one cleaner and one supervisor per floor and the supervisor would walk around next to the cleaner telling her what to do. It was warm though, smelt nice and had amazing carpet. didn't see any Prime Ministers but I swear I stood two feet away from Eric Bristow.
I would stay at this hotel for sure! The price is definitely ok, it shows that the staff and management is taking pride and care of such an historic place.
