Thanks for an informative video. You have the wind and rain deflectors and the diff lock protectors right. You don't know it, but you really want a cover for your spare wheel since the UV rays of the sun will play havoc on that exposed rubber of the tire. The lowest points underneath the Jimny are the radial cups and they easily get bent and can hardly be bent back in shape. Thus you should investigate radial cup protectors as well as a set of rock sliders as your next upgrades. If you drive through a deep puddle you risk getting water into your differentials which operates through a vacuum suction effect. A differential breather kit will save you a lot of hassles and possible expenses further on. That concludes what I would call critical upgrades for every Jimny. The next step will be to get a 50mm lift kit that will improve your suspension and driving both off road and on normal roads. You are now committed to your stock tires though when you replace them in future seriously look at either General Grabbers or BF Goodridge All Terrain tires in the 215/75r15 size that will significantly improve your handling both on and off-road. A throttle controller with modes ranging from performance, towing and economy improves both the performance and the fuel economy of the Jimny since the stock throttle control system is fairly laggy and slow to respond when accelerating - this is an upgrade auto dealers may frown upon resulting in people temporarily removing the controller before taking the Jimny for a service. These are what I term as the vital upgrades since you have now converted the Jimny from a mall-crawler to an off-roader or overlander with a serious attitude that is equipped to go on an adventure. In South Africa (I promise not to mention the rugby!) the insurers that market their services through tele-sales don't understand the Jimny though if ever you go offroad you absolutely have to switch your insurance to a broker that can provide proper 4x4 insurance with the necessary safeguards if you should encounter mishaps while far from a tarred road. Plus a broker understands that every 4x4 is all about upgrades and they will ensure everything. For a treasure trove on why many different options are vital upgrades, have a look a the Des Sol website in South Africa.
Thanks for the tips! It's probably a little more hardcore than I was planning to get into. I'm going to add a nudge bar and get some AT tires next. I do now have a tire cover on the back too. I got the official Suzuki one with the Suzuki logo. It fits well!
@@thehardshift You may want to view the video from Raymond Martin on the Just Jimny channel on accessories for the Jimny and why it may not a great idea to add weight either at the front or the back of the Jimny. Besides, the stock Suzuki nudge bar has been criticised for the very week points it mounts to on the Suzuki undercarriage. ua-cam.com/video/XqRMB_0rvgw/v-deo.html
Just ordered mine a week ago. 6 months lead time due to current Delta outbreak. But holy shit, I was quoted $500 for parking sensors and $200 for the reversing camera. I’m in Tauranga. Though, the salesman tells me that the boot storage box is not included with the car. Asked around and I’m being told otherwise.
Yeah the little boot trunk not being included is a bit iffy.. First I've heard of that. Not a bad price for the reversing camera though. I'd definitely go with that.
Kia ora! I am also in NZ and I just got my kinetic yellow Jimny. Wanted to ask about warranty and all maybe you have an idea I wanted to install a tough dog 40mm lift suspension kit to improve drivability but will it void it?
I'm not an expert on how Suzuki structures their warranties but you are covered by the consumer guarantees act in NZ. Say you had a problem with your steering wheel, they'd have a hard time proving that the problem occurred because you changed your suspension. These cars have been out for a while now and are having little problems, so I'm not worried about voiding warranty. I have also installed the OME 40mm lift now and 215 A/T tires. Car definitely handles better, definitely lost a little acceleration and fuel economy though.
@@thehardshift that would sounds about right the speed will change... Wow OME where did you buy it? What I like about the Tough Dog offering they have this kit. This full kit, comprises the following; - Front & rear foam cell shock absorbers - Front raised coils - Rear raised coils - Headlight module kit - Brake hose kit (rear left) - ABS relocation kit - Crossmember kit I'll probably checked that with my dealer if that can be covered :) without voiding anything. I appreciate the quick response!
@@ryane516 The OME kit has that all included as well. I don't know enough about them to comment if one is better than the other or not. I got it done at MotorTech 4X4. Was just under $3k for everything - parts, labour, gst etc.
Do you mind me asking how tall you are. See you have the seat quite far back. I’m considering one of theses also in NZ but being 194cm wonder if they lacking head and leg room
I'm 188cm. Head room is ok but you'll find yourself ducking to see high traffic lights. With legs, it's also just okay. I've only ever felt discomfort after hours of driving. If you get a manual, I'm not sure if knees will hit operating the clutch, I haven't tried one.
nice video man! when i was looking at the Suzuki nz website found there are no prices for accessories. have to say they are not cheap... how much labour did you paid for installation?
Thanks mate. They didn't break down the costs separately to labour and part costs when I was quoted. The prices in the description are all inclusive with installation, gst, etc.
It may be a year later, but, on the Suzuki website, it has the product numbers in the accessories section. Run them through ebay or wherever, and you'll be able to import them for less than dealership costs (Most of the time)
Hey, it was about 4 months. I ordered late January. I was originally told 5-6 months so I was under promised and over delivered which is always nice! I suspect I may have gotten lucky with delivery schedules.
Yeah I have heard they've put up the prices since I ordered parts in Feb. I suspect with the way things are going in supply chains globally it won't be the last price rise either...

Which colour is the best on jimny
I like them all! However, if you get the Blue or Kenetic Yellow colour, you have to get 2-tone with black roof. Not good if you park outside.

Hello, Towbar is extra and I didn't choose it.

I got quoted significantly more for most of these parts, how annoying :(

@@thehardshift bummer. I thought it couldve been dealer to dealer differences, but maybe not! Thanks for the insight ☺️
