And Justice for All Cover with Mesa/Boogie Studio Preamp and ADA MP1

- Clean guitars and leads were recorded through an ADA MP1 direct into a line6 HX stomp with a cabinet IR applied.
Heavy Guitars were triple tracked and recorded through a Mesa Booogie Studio Pre, into a Peavey Classic 60 Power Amp into a Suhr Reactive Load. This was then run into the HX Stomp where a "Metallica ONE" IR was used. This was all recorded into ProTools and mixed with the original Drums and Bass stems.
I know most people here are metallica fans and guitarist, but those who aren't are unable to comprehend how impressive this whole thing is. The tone, the recording, the playing and the whole song. Instant subscription. Bravo!
This has to be the best Metallica distorted tone on UA-cam!
Very kind of you! Thanks!!
State of mercury my bro, check him out
Best Ajfa tone ever 😍
I will be the best when I release my cover in 3 days
@@daws6403 who
I would pay per minute to play through this rig
If I didn’t know this was a cover, I would’ve thought this was the original version. You killed it man! This is incredible!!
This is the closest I've seen anyone get to this tone. Awesome job man. Keep it up.
Thanks dude!
This is literally 100% perfection.
Thank you for the kind words!
Woah. Just woah. Impeccable. Literal dream tone. Wowowowo.
Bought the cassette on day 1 release, wore the tshirt and played the parts over and over. Thanks for the awesome trip down memory lane. Great work.
Thank you 🙏
Can you do another cover from AJFA? I've listened to this cover about 15 times in the last two weeks while listening to the real thing only once.
🤣that’s probably the best comment I’ve ever had! Thank you.
That rhythm tone is SPOT ON!
This is one of the best And Justice For All Tones I have heard. I also own a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp and ADA-MP1. It would be great if you could do a video about the ADA-MP1 clean & lead tones someday.
Thats amazing. By triple-tracked - is that 3 per side? Or one track left, one track right and one up the middle?
Actually now you mention it.. I think I did five tracks in the end. 2 left and right and 1 up the middle.
In-fucking-credible. That tone brought me right back to the end of eighth grade when I first heard And Justice For All. It was a pivotal moment in my life. That was when I was 100% certain I was ready to get a guitar.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Shit, in more than a part I thought I was listening to the album 🤩
You are very kind. Thank you!
There's a few things played incorrectly, but my god, the tone is just perfect
Great palm muting my man , tone is excellent
Thanks!!
This is WAYYY to good dude, i foocking loove it!!!! Metal yarrr ASS up!!!
Awesome tone and some tight playing! 🤘😀🤘
Awesome. Really love that chuggy mid scooped tone.
man.. ive been looking to buy the boogie preamp and peavy classic but cant find any where to buy them!! please let me know where i can find them
Damn 🔥 awesome cover my dude 🤘
Thanks buddy!
YES YES YES and more YES! You can't get more accurate then this. The guitar is way more important to this tone than the other albums IMO. There's something about the chunkiness of that MX250 that gives it THE sound. So hard to replicate but you have achieved it man. Flemming would be proud
Thank you my friend!
I'm still trying to figure out what aspect of the guitar contributes to this specific characteristic of the sound. My LTD EX-360 doesn't seem to "have it" even though it's made of the same wood, has the same pickups, fretboard, hardware, etc.
Brilliant !..that takes me back lol :-)
well done :)
Thank you sir!
No matter what you used, with these IR's every amp will sound like Metallica.
Even MetalZone pedal connected to the PC.
You could get the same tone with cab IR's and some EQ tweaking.
Greatest 'tallica tone ever. Period. lml Kickass song and kickass rig and kickass playing and kickass craftbeer on the desk.
What can i say, YOU made AJDF for Metallica, they've just copied it xD
loving these studio preamp tones! love the ADA MP1 too!
My go to is my Quad and Peavey 120 into a Marshall cab. Yes I am also a big Metallica fan :) What speakers does your cab have?
I also run the Quad into the bottom right input of a '69 Marshall JMP. Also killer tone which does a great job of Kill Em All and Ride tonez.
I was using an Impulse Response here not a cab. I have a couple of cabs that I do use that have various speaker configurations
@@RDamps Ah OK thanks! I wondered what that was as you were talking about it :) Assuming it was FX of some sort!
Awesome. Killer tone. Tight.
This is f****** unreal! This is my dream right here!
Nailed it bro!! By far my favorite album from the guys.. Well f@cking done!
Wow! The best use my former guitar ever have had! I am so happy it went into the right hands! RubberDuck Tech, you're a not from this Earth! \m/
Thanks mate 🙏
Sick job..loved it..i subscribed
Thanks dude!
state of mercury sent me here...WOW brother, nicely done!!! that was impressive...you have a sub!!!
CRAZY SHIT DUDE!!! I'm blown away
dude..... the goat.....
Mad Professor :-)
my favorite metallica song
This is pretty much as close as it gets, especially the rhythm tracks. Well done!
Cool ., Nice one old chap.,.,.
Sounds precise. Good job.
I’m sorry I’m a guitar nerd. He hammers from the 5th fret to the 7th, on that one riff after the intro drums.
I don't know what it is...but you REALLY feel the power at 8:57
Loving your work! 🙌🏻👏🙌🏻
Did you show Dixy my first crack at some proper editing?
@@RDamps not yet, will show him this evening xxx
good job
Dude, fantastic cover! This had to have taken loads of time to pull together and record -- as a die hard fan of Metallica, I'm really critical when it comes to covers and you just nailed it. One thing I will say -- the main riff (daa da da daaa DUH DUH DUUH) slides into that E on the 7th fret, kinda like how the main riff of Sandman is played. Other than that -- awesome. I can't get over how perfect this tone is. I'm not sure if I should try to find the same pre, get a Triaxis, or just splurge and get a Boogie JP-2C. Cheers, RubberDuck!
This is simply AWESOME!!! Congrats!!! Just out of curiosity, where can I find this “ONE” IR? Again congrats on this amazing tone! 🤟🤟🤟
i listened to this a few months ago and was blown away. came back up in my suggested and wow i am still in awe of the closeness in tone. beautiful playing as well. 💓🙏🏼
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed and are still enjoying it!
Tono e suono PERFETTO, my friend 😍
Greets from Italy
You’ve earned yourself another sub. Good job man, beautiful guitar too
great tone brother, you killed it ! congrats.
StateOfMercury send me here !!!
Sorry if the question is kinda rude but how much the Esp did it cost u? I wanna buy one to play with a Mesa Boogie but i dont know how much i have to spend to buy a one that gives me that sound, and if something of a lowest tier will give me problems, awesome video tho!
damn that sounds great! Any chance you could share the settings you used on the Studio pre? I've got one and I'd love to try and get this tone.
check out my last video, I run through the set up.
Awesome! Since I'm kind of inexperienced in terms of gear, can you tell me which of the gear you used is an actual amp head/cab/software/pedalboard/whatever? Cause you know, I read all these model names in the description and if I have to figure them in my mind I can't because I don't know how they're physically made and such.
Tl;dr: All I have is a guitar + a combo amp, therefore I don't know much about other things.
Just editing a video as I'm typing this explaining it all. Thanks for watching!
It was a great performance 👏Good work 💪, as always 👍
That was GLORIOUS!
Can you break down how much of each preamp you used and what the settings are?
I did do a video of the set up. All the Heavy Guitars were the studio preamp. The clean and solo were the ADA.
The best cover I have seen is identical to the original, how did you get the tone besides using BGelais's IR? I love that tone, it sounds so heavy and pleasant at the same time.
Well bravo, that was worth a listen from A to Z. The mix was excellent near the end. The bass kick needs to be louder. The background guitar to set lower. Hope there is no bass guitar. Then, to get that stereo sound, get 2 microphones with different cardioids count, and different speaker. That magic searched for. There is something about the guitar, did a change of distortion from the previous video? Maybe it is just the angled pick. James H. picks flat, no 37degrees. Else, that was impressive. The guitar solo, get a fuzz or something to push that compression, and Kirk uses the wah-wa from the begining to the end of the solo. Just a mix retouch for the guitars harmonized at first, but last is exellent. Good job.
To really captured these tones. Great job. Whats is a good price for the rack unit these days? I need one bad
In the UK the start around the £350 mark if you're lucky. Lately they have been going up in price rapidly due to people realizing just how good they are. If you're in the US I really don't know, at a guess $500 and up?
@@RDamps thank you for the response.
Awesome! 🤘😀🤘
Hi. Whats the year of your mesa boogie preamp and ada preamp ? Thanks
Sounds like original instrumental 🔥
Perfect!
Exquisite.
🤘
Bass at 0??
Great tone btw.
Yes, 0
This is fantastic! Good job my friend 🤘👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent Tone! Well done sir!
This is DAMN close!
That tone is spot-on perfect, great job! I'm wondering how much longer the Studio Pre is going to fly under the radar as an affordable alternative. It's honestly amazing that you can still get them at anything close to a reasonable price, given where IIC+ prices have gone in the past few years.
Thank you for the kind words. As for the Studio pre...they are going up in price each time I see one for sale. Grab one while you can, unless you have one already 😉
Perfect cover man, as simple as that 👌
Thanks a lot!
What are your ada settings? Clean and lead.
I’ll have to fire it up and let you know.
@@RDamps Did you ever get it? I have the studio pre too, what were the settings? Did it sound like this in the room or only recorded?
👌
Killer take. Haven’t heard this as an instrumental much. Easily the best I’ve come across.
Killer take. Haven’t heard this as an instrumental much. Easily the best I’ve come across.
That particular ESP explorer is long-since out of production, yeah? : /
It certainly is. Its a shame Gibson can be such asses.
How it sounds with a Low Tuned guitar?
Hows does it sound in person without the IR?
What wah was used?
An old VOX Clyde McCoy reissue from the early 2000’s.
spot on dude, nice work!
Glad you liked it!
Top your work. How do I get IR And justice . I love that timbre. I have a Fractal MKll and I would like to get this timbre. Hugs and keep up this beautiful work
Did you use TS9 before ada mp1? i know that kirk used to it before ada mp1, what do you think?
Yes I did, well it is a TS9 clone
@@RDamps cool whats your ada mp-1 settings? it is very close to ajfa lead tone!
Have you made match eq with de IR to get this tone? What IR have you used?
I used an IR made by Begelais. He is here on UA-cam
It's pretty damn great, but why no hammer-on from the 5-7 in the main riff? Just straight 7...
Referencing the D-E hammer-on to the vibrato'ed E-D-B after the Bb5-Bb5-A5...
I guess when you're being Producer, Engineer and Performer all at once you do miss some of the subtleties..
@@RDamps not trying to take away from this at all, it's amazing work... I was just curious because that's such a big part of how cool that riff is to me, and to my ear, it takes a lot of the impact out of the riff.
Another example would be something like Ride the Lightning... If the main verse riff was just a plain Bb5 instead of that quick slide from A5-Bb5... It just wouldn't sound as cool.
Just wanted to comment on it, it wasn't to try and say "omg this whole thing sucks" because it absolutely doesn't. I just wondered if that omission was purposeful or accidental.
No man, all good. At some points I do do it. You’ve made me want to redo it now🤣
@@RDamps do eet!!! Then go ahead and do the rest of the songs from Kill Em All through Reload. And the rest if you want but i don't really care about those 😝
Wow
MASSIVE
Was wondering if you could explain how exactly you are getting this tone, you must be using a custom IR ? Thanks and awesome work 🤘
Yep I'm working on a video doing just this!!
Excellent maestro, do you have any mod on your Studio Preamp? What about the ADA one? what are the current prices more or less for this one?
No Mods on either piece. I may try the 2C+ mod on the Studio. ADA is stock too but I'm about to re-cap it. Look out for the video!!
@@RDamps I did some mods here and there on mine. Superb. By the way I use the send exit of the fx loop as my main out, directly to the input of the Simul 295, some people say this old trick takes the Preamp even closer to the 2C+!
I've heard this but haven't tried it yet. Maybe another video?
@@RDamps Absolutely, oh please and also talk about your studio preamp settings for your justice tone cover! :)
Also, which ADA clean tone did you use on this one? solid state or tube clean? I bet it's the second.. Regards!
I think he is a GOD!
Flawless
Cheers! Happy New Year!
@@RDamps Btw would like to share your settings on that Lead tone you had on Ada preamp? I have one of those and I really like that tone. Cheers!
