Music video by The Human League performing Circus Of Death. (C) 2003 Virgin Records Ltd
Forget their commercial successess - this blew everything else out of the water!
The real Human League
and so say all of us
This album is a masterpiece.
I like all Human Leagues
I know this since the 80s. Around 84 I bought the Maxi Single of Being Boiled, where this is the B side…. I was a big fan of the old Depeche Mode, even before People. Are People, the first Tears for Fears albun, Yazoo, Heaven 17-TheLuxury Gap, Howard Jones, OMD, The Cure and U2 before the Joshua Tree… then a friend gave me the three first Marillion records, and from there I was into Rock. A neighbour showed me the firs Genesis Albums, when I showed him Marillion he said, yes, good, but this was all there before.. I discovered Pink Floyd and all the Old stuff, like Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, ect., also harder stuff like ACDC and even Motörhead… the 90s came, and I missed the Grunge train, I listened to Peter Gabriel and Tori Amos instead. By incodent I discovered the last two Talk Talk records, but I also went back in time to Roxy Music, Dire Straits, I discovered my heart for America by listening to Tom Petty, the Cars, Springsteen an even Tom Waits ( though I must admit I can listen to him only in the right mood). And I forgot the Simple Minds of course! they provided spiritual uplift from the 80s to the 90s! Hip Hop never
realley touched me,
Techno neither..
like Chemical Brothers and Primal Scream being the exeption of the rule… And there were the things, I coudn‘t tell my friends about, being too wimpy, my feminine, maybe a bit gay side, A-Ha, Propaganda, OMD (I mentioned them before..), Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry… Trash of course, but I had a heart for trash, too… even for the KLF…at the end of the milennium I discovered German Hip Hop, and I started to like some of it. exspecially SEEED, but that‘s not really Hip Hop, that‘s more Dancehall Raggae, made in Berlin, by international people..
Then I should tell you about my punk side… the german band „Die Ärzte“, Die Toten Hosen ( later both missed to retire in time and became cringy and started to suck massively..) Rammstein were funny once, but they also missed the right time to retire..
Then I should tell you about being a musician myself, Keyboard and Saxophone.. and of course I listened to oldschool saxophone stuff from the 50s and sixtys, the Blues Brothers and even Glenn Miller…
So, that was my personal music history!
The music history of a 52 years old german street musician, heroin addict, christian ( only for a year now)…
Did I really forget the Heaven 17?
And: there is german stuff, nobody here will ever have heard of, that I left out! Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Herbert Grönemeyer, Ulla Meinicke, Spliff ( the former Band of Nina Hagen), Straßenjungs ( from the 70s, and some other stuff from the 80s, where there was something called „die neue deutsch Welle“ ( the new german wave) which was the german answer to new wave.. of course, as being a teenager in the 80s, I listened to that, too. Living in Germany, it was on the radio all the time! In fact I only knew one person who really listened to David Hasselhoff, my Grand-cousin. So all Germans loving David Hasselhoff is definetly a myth! To listen to David Hasselhoff you had to have an outstanding bad taste in music, even for a German!
You have an incredible good taste in music. Much the same as I would have listened too as well back in the day
Phil Oakey is an incredible singer. This is pure artistic genius.
Who doesn’t love those backing vocals? Ooohh! Aaahh!
Phil Oakey is a national treasure.
When Kraftwerk added some human spirit and soul to electronic music, "Reproduction" was the exact opposite. I think that is one of the most bleak and despondent recordings ever, making even Joy Division sounds, um, joyful sometimes. Great stuff that hasn't aged a bit.
The 2003 remaster of Reproduction is superb, excellent record and bonus tracks
It has a glacial beauty amidst the gloom - the breathtaking, slow morph into “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”; the playground chanting - “tall, tall, tall, I wanna be tall, tall, tall” made into a bizarrely funny military march; the burst of verse in ‘Blind Youth’. But yes, this is a long way from “Don’t You Want Me Baby?”
Original line up were the best, great music.
Defo, before they turned into steps.
I love the sound. And of course, in generally speaking, I love sounds.
This music video is like yesterday.
Total other worldly greatness.
Such a piece of dark genius, adore The Circus Of Death. It's chilling drum sounds and feeling like you are floating in another dimension in space.
yeah it was on the b-side of Being Boiled - What a single that was BOTH SIDES!
I recall seeing this many years ago on TV performed as part of _The Very Hot Gossip Show._
pure genius. Must have been listening to this for 40 years. Thank you so much
Way ahead of its time, dark and foreboding, fantastic!
This is my favorite from league, early , raw, and original. wish there was a 12 inch version.
Genius and raw electronic music at its best
Unbelievable that this true masterpiece is from 1979. And it's still up to date, what a fucking record! 44 years later, I first heard it in 1983 and will continue to listen.
Great tune, great video, and there's a cat! This wins on all fronts.
Is That The Cat From Downing Street!!!???👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Never thought this song would get to be topical.
MASTERPIECE...
Deeper_Darkside it was a master piece that was in an underhand way telling you about Yorkshire’s industrial demise , 1980 they knew it was coming , it came and it went ! Was it for the the better? No more Satanic steel mills and Coal mines?
@@francescxavierbulto9848 - I was meaning the music by itself, no the text.
It's the lyrics I adore.
Great record ! Still sounds modern.
So haunting the lyrics wow , what a tune
Human League at their best 👍
Has to be one of the creepiest songs ever made.
Unforgettable track the pathway to the future
One of the links between Kraftwerk and 80's British synthpop. Very important track despite the slightly ostentatious lyrics. Brilliant.
Not as bad as being boiled, you don’t get many protest songs about sericulture nowadays😂
Great band ever!
Seen these with the banshees in 78. They played with anyone then.
Great band
I can’t believe it. This is Human League in 1979.....awesome music and lyrics... A few years after they released a great bullshit like “togheter in electric dreams”. It’s been an enormous changing. Why??!!!?!
Together in electric dreams was not the Human League. It was by Georgio Moroder with Phil Oakey. Oakey was a guest singer on that but it had nothing to do with the Human League. It was Moroder's song.
Still a world away from open your heart
The original lineup had separated by the time dare had come out so this sound changed with the band
Martin Ware and Ian Craig Marsh left to form Heaven 17 along with Glenn Gregory before HL became chart toppers
@@luornu True enough, Together in Electric Dreams wasn't the Human League. But it certainly was trash compared to earlier classics like this
LOVE THIS!
They knew it...
Great song....great times....makes me want to order a lager and lime!
Great song
Excelente canción
Saludos desde México 🖤
A nadie le importa que seas de México.

After all these years... I`m still asking myself: HOW ON EARTH DID THE TRIDENT MAKE ITS WAY FROM HAWAII TO HEATHROW???
The same way the Clown has a drug called dominion ;-)
@@ecc84 Dominion meaning is 'ruling or controlling power'
Inflight refuelling?👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It Was Teleported There???👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It Was Abducted By The Alien Mothership And Taken There!!!???👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great early track....
Great Song
This sounds WAY more edgy than with the girls. Yet this material in a sense helped recruit them to the band, Mk. 2
They weren't making much money back then.
It send me to new dimension
Reproductions is a great album , that can't be reproduced .Its the Black hit of space , time stops when you put it on .
roland jupiter 4.....yeah.....awsome.....

Reproduction of The Human League and Chinese Restaurant by Chrisma where my favorite dark albums of the late 70's, oppressive and distressing.
takes me back,b side of being boiled
Not this version.
William - very fucking similar though
this is 1979, not 80's not yet, that's more like 'Dare Album
Its just there...elektronika......the new classical music.....embrase it...I do.

Will we ever get rid of successive births and deaths ? (Translate in Sanskrit)
Spoken Intro :Why in just a few moments we're off to Hawaii to join Steve McGarrett and the team for tonight's adventure
Nine o'clock flight from Hawaii
The Trident is just touching down
We're waiting here on the tarmac
McGarrett is wearing a frown
He's here to help with a problem
A blood-spattered curse on our land
Please cast your eye over this map, sir
This business is quite out of hand
The circus of death is approaching
It's pathway is painted in red
Before it the frightened and helpless
Behind it a trail of the dead
The narcotic that forges their union
Is a substance known only to one
To the clown it is known as dominion
It's a secret that he'll give to none
The drug which gives the clown power
Means the circus can never be stopped
And his dream can go on unhindered
Till the last human being has dropped
Spare me and my family, I've done you no wrong
Go away, please let us be, I've known you for too long
I got my hopes up for some Hawaii 5 o action..
