This man is a LEGEND put some respek on his name and legacy. Let him finish his thought. There's a clear difference between leading, asking and being disrespectful. I really wanted to watch this whole video i will pass
I love love loved Home Again. That was the album they formed R&B Voltron. The production was all over the place, but some really good songs on that CD!
I actually saw the fight firsthand between Bobby Brown and Ronnie Davoe in 96. It was at the Pan Am Center on the campus of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. I was on the football team and several of my teammates worked security as a side gig. Bobby said "F it! This my House!" and basically took over the concert. Each group was supposed to do a mix of 2-3 songs when Bobby kept going. BBD was next and Devoe pulled the power on Bobby's mic. Then it was on. They scuffled then security removed Bobby. BBD is performing and Bobby is backstage and pulls a fire hose from the wall and tries to spray them. Water goes off, it's too powerful and goes into the air and hits the crowd who thought it was part of the show and go crazy! Lol. BBD security gets hose from Bobby and fight breaks out between both entourages as campus security try to break them up. Bobby runs over and pulls all power to the stage and BBD come off and Ronnie and Bobby scrap. Fight spills into tunnel leading to locker rooms under bleachers where shots were "allegedly" fired. Concert is cancelled for the second time in 3 wks Just like Johnny and Teddy said. Teddy Riley and Black Street were on before New Edition. Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
@@yelnats21 I honestly dont remember the band layout. Remember they were in between a staircase and under the balcony on the set that NE came down. We did meet and kick it with some of the band members and roadies a week prior because the show was postponed after the Phoenix and Vegas shows because "Bobby was sick. or had lost his voice" Roadies were pissed because they had to take everything down for basketball games and then put the set back up. They were cool. After a few games of spades, dominoes, and a few drinks, the crew told us that Bobby and Whitney had an "altercation" or some type of drug/alcohol related DV incident which was the real reason the show was postponed. Blew our minds as fans and this was the first time hearing this. Great show, Teddy Riley and Black Street, Guy, and Destiny's Child, and New Edition in one concert. EPIC at the time.
Home Again was the best album and Heartbreak was the most legendary! Johnny makes a good point when he said it’s hard to duplicate monster success, you can only do the best according to where you find yourself in life. Glad all of these guys are still standing.
VLAD & Nore (drink champs) NEVER let the guests talk!!! Just ask the question and STFU!!! Sheesh!!! I went to the Home Again tour and I just recently seen them earlier this year. Both concerts were in Greensboro, NC!! NE4LIFER!!! Even with all the chaos and drama on the Home Again tour. It was still an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SHOW!!!
Both albums are Great. But, I'm with Johnny on the comparisons of both. That Heartbreak Album Hits Different. That Home Alone Album is definitely Timeless Also. I think the Tour killed the momentum of it.
Salute to Vlad for discussing the Home Again project. A project which barely gets mentioned in the pantheon of top to bottom great R&B records of not just the 90's but of All-Time !! But with all do respect to JG the Home Again album was and is far superior sonically and lyrically from Heartbreak. But from his personal opinion HeartBreak may mean more because of where he was in life at that point and being that was the first album he did with the group. But as a connoisseur of music.Home Again was EPIC !! From start to finish , production to songwriting all the way to the vocals. They pushed it to the limit like tony montana for the 1996 FOR SURE !! What happened later may have left a sour taste in the mouths of the members. But what they created in that GOT DAMN studio was a sonic masterpiece !!
I remember some of the records from Puffy not being as good as the Jermaine Dupry & Jimmy Terry records. Shop Around, Home Again & Oh Yea It Feels So Good should have been singles with videos.
They got more work to do! They still got it! It never left. I love all there albums, but they got more in them to put out. We the fans need more. Jam & Lewis productions. New Edition is the Best!!!!
Goodness gracious Vlad. You're the interviewer not the interviewee. Can you please let us hear their story? You're like the P. Diddy of interviews. The curse of the Temptations spilled over on New Edition and the movie group 5 Heartbeats like a black cloud. But through it all they both made some of the best songs ever in music history😊😊
The Five Heartbeats was loosely based on the Temptations in many ways (by way of the Dells being vocal consultants on the project). NE 's situation is just another spin to the whole saga involving R&B groups
And there were many crazy nights on the tour …every night at the beginning of the show Chuckii Booker would turn around and look at the tubes to see who was missing, because after a while, at least one member would skip a night every show except for Johnny and Ricky, the Jumbotron got one of our keyboard players fined, because during the intro, he had one of those laser lights that he would always Point at the Jumbotron and Brooke Payne find him for that . My set up was on the side of the stage that the wives would sit so beside me would always be Whitney and Ralph Tresvant‘s wife at the time Bobby was only supposed to do three songs during his individual set, but he got on this obsessive Donny Hathaway, a song for you binge what he wanted to do that song every night . you’re now making me reminisce lol

Home Again was New Editions biggest selling album. Johnny don't want to admit it because Bobby was on that one...he helped boost them ...people loved Bobby... everyone knows Johnny sings better...but they just love Bobby
Bobby was always the better singer and had an enormously better stage presence IMO. Johnny was never a slouch BY ANY MEANS, but I'll still put Bobby above him
Wrong! They both went double-platinum. Bobby was NOT that dude when they linked up to do the "Home Again" album. He was getting more media attention for his troubles with the law by then and had already had his house go into foreclosure in 1994 and filed for bankruptcy in 1996.
@@elijahstraight402 Bobby was never the better singer than Gil. What helps Bobby is his larger-than-life stage presence and personality that makes him seem like a better singer than he really is.
@@NewAb22 That's your opinion and I'm cool with that. However, I still disagree. Outside of his ego and the drug use, Bobby will always be a step higher than Johnny. First off, he was one of the main artists that helped usher in the New Jack Swing movement with Teddy Riley producing his 2nd & 3rd LP. Second, he's basically the prototype for certain artists like Usher, Chris Brown, Trey Songz(and maybe Omarion to a much lesser extent).
