Not only did they make music, they had a group symbol/insignia, they were successful with the Wu Wear and opened stores not only in the states, but around the world. They're the only group I can recall who you can identify with just a symbol. When they changed their names to mafioso monikers a lot of other rappers followed suit. They were the first group to sign their individual artists to all different labels. They had a video game Shaolin Style on PS1. They have multiple documentaries, books, and a series that was streaming on major platform.(Hulu). They have a myriad of artists/groups that branch offf of the main Wutang Clan. Sunz of Man, Killa Army, Trife da God to name a few. Not to mention not only do they have fans stateside, but worldwide.
6:21 The best answer! 🔥❤️ I was blown away by NWA back in the early 90's and absolutely burned my walkman with Straight outta CPT and EFIL4ZAGGIN 💥🔥 But when 36 Chambers came out it was definitely something new. Them dudes were different on a dope and cool af way, they killed it. I love both groups ❤️
As a 13 14yr old kid from Texas, Eazy E We Want Eazy & NWA Straight Outta Compton made me gravitate to the West Coast sound as my rap preference. Not until my mid 30s did the Wu grew into me. Now they're all over my playlist.
Yes respect for NWA for being the pioneers of the game but let’s be honest WuTang had everything you need in one group. Beats, Women, Fashion, made Being Nerdy cool with kung fu flicks, politics, math, religion, etc., being from the hood. They was on a whole different level. WuTang is still doing concerts till this day even lost ODB (RIP) and NWA not doing concerts without Eazy (RIP) love NWA but the Wu is the best group of all time.
You dam sure right, I was already a fan of kungfu fu flicks and when wutang clan came out with kungfu, hot 🔥 beats and rhymes man I almost went fool, I ain't putting know hip-hop group over Wutang, now next to wutang I think I would have to pick mobb deep
Wu tang had one good album then they had a few good songs nwa had concerts still especially after the movie for the new fans even after the wu tang documentary wu tang remained the same as far as popularity
There will most definitely be a Wu without NWA they looked up to New York rappers and saw that as competition not NWA. And they had three successful Wu albums and got countless solo albums from every wu member that are bangers.

NWA is not two rappers. It was two writers...Cube and Red and sometimes DOC.... But Dre, Cube, Run and EaZy all rhymed. It was something about Eazy's voice on a record
I’m from SoCal and I still go Wu-Tang all day. I think it’s a generational thing though. I was born in 84 and NWA came out in 87. Wu came out in 93 and touched my soul. By that time Dre and Snoop were going at Eazy and vice versa which was dope too.

The editing is top notch, the question is so hard, i honesty don t know how to even make comparisons between the two groups, they both have all it takes to be the best group in hiphop and one of the best groups in music history, sometimes i lean towards the psychopathic subject matter of wu tang and other times i do lean towards nwa
It's Wu for me. I loved the shock value of NWA when I was a kid (stole my brother's tape when I was 9) but Wu was a whole movement, the music, the samples , the aliases, the beats, the rhymes, the aesthetic, the grittiness, the slang, the clothing, the video games, the references, the science, math, philosophy, politics etc all interwoven into the wordplay. Wu will always be the dopest group in the world to me

NWA is the most influential rap group ever tbh. They commercialised gangster rap with Eazy E, which is literally 80% of all rap music, and without Dr Dre thered be no Snoop, Ice Cube, Pac (deathrow era), Eminem, 50, Game, Kendrick.

Wu-Tang revolutionized the hip hop industry when they started blowing up. From creating a logo that would be used and licensed still to this day, to branching out to different businesses (eg. Wu-Wear, Killah Koffee, Hastoria, Bomb Atomically IPA, etc) and more importantly, paving the way and making the blueprint for other groups to be able to do individual shit and still come together as a group. Being born in Long Beach and raised throughout LA in the 90's & 2000's, we'd ALL have to say Wu-Tang. The world was f*cking with NWA, but LA wasn't on the same level. The hoods understood NWA, but never connected with them as we did with Wu. The thing is, NWA had shock value to the world and they put LA on the map. But how much they rapped about gang-banging and poppin in streets but not being from a gang, drug dealing but not dealing (besides Eazy) etc,... it just distanced themselves because authenticity. Cube and Dre both noticed that and slowly dropped that act years later in their solo careers. Snoop, Eazy, Cube, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Bone, Quik, Too Short, Brotha Lynch, Fugees, Wu, Outkast, Cypress Hill, Master P, DMX, Westside Connection... only to name a few. That's what was bumpin in our tape decks and CD players to school and to work, not so much NWA. Wu-Tang was authentic to what they rapped about and what they did. Damn near all 642-thousand of them muh-fukkas in Wu-Tang had rapsheets while making music (no pun intended). They were more lyrical, polished with wordsmith, connected to their craft, the list goes on.. all because it was authentic. Till this day, nobody's bumping NWA like they are Wu. That speaks for itself.
You ain't lying about that, NWA did paved the way for other groups to make more than a duo, but the Wu Tang Clan are still relevant. The Wu Tang Clan had nine rappers that almost never broke up. NWA only had a few rappers but they all broke up. Basically Dr. Dre is like the only actual NWA and that's it. Because Ice Cube was NWA but now is more of an either West Connection or Lench Mob type of guy.
What a great f’n question. I’m from LA and love NWA for the impact on hip hop. I bump WU more when I drive cuz of that RZA sampling and style. Dre and Cube solo were different beasts but WU as a whole were more cohesive and 9 emcees making it work was ridiculous. I’d take a shot too but for the sake of answering, I’ll go WU by a hair.
@@MikiyasDemeke-xp8vp yup! OB4CL and Supreme Clientele are my favorite WU solo projects. Ice Cube is a legend and Dr with both Chronics were amazing. Eazy for the time had some heat as well.
@@elliot2177 yeah there’s too many artists but do they got monstrous, international hits including production wise like Dr. Dre, Ice Cube ? Aww yea…. Again and again….😂

I would agree Wu- Tang , Ghetto boys EPMD and Boogie down productions
I'm Brazilian and the N.W.A helped a lot in contributing to Rap and Hip-Hop culture due to its similarity with the police violence we suffered. I will be eternally grateful to the late Eazy-E
Both, bro. Let's not divide hip hop. Let's embrace it for making us the people that we are today.
Yeah but not everybody can take a bunch of shots 😅 Some of these guys were concerned about getting buzzed
I love both groups, but if I have to choose it's the Wu.
NWA convinced me rap should be taken seriously, but Wu-Tang convinced me it was a genuine form of art

Yes respect for NWA for being the pioneers of the game but let’s be honest WuTang had everything you need in one group. Beats, Women, Fashion, made Being Nerdy cool with kung fu flicks, politics, math, religion, etc., being from the hood. They was on a whole different level. It's Wu for me.
