    I like this host cause he actually makes the drummer do more examples and it gets explained better so that others can understand unlike other videos.

      thebeat Dude, thank you! This is exactly why we started 180 Drums. I (Jake) felt there was a void of guys hosting lessons where the teachers have the help necessary to break down the patterns in their heads. What's your name? How long have you been playing? :)

      180 DRUMS The fact that there is no separation between the singles is why I don't consider this a 6 stroke roll. I would honestly call it an inverted paradiddlediddle, otherwise I don't see a distinction between the rudiments. Like, if I play RllrrLrrll with no separations, I would consider it an interesting sticking for a fivelet (or however you're grouping it), not a five stroke roll.

    Good tip to really lock that left hand in is to put a metronome on and isolate the left hand (play the left hand notes only) like he does in the one section, and listen how the beat will fit within the metronome groove

      Not really. I started drumming young, and the first thing id do is practice with both hands until both were equal in speed, skill, etc. Never had that issue

    • @si1995gtnupe1997
      @si1995gtnupe1997 3 роки тому +1

      noobdrawsz a: Good reply. You just have to keep working on gaining equal balance/strength on each hand. For some, it takes longer, and for others, it may not take as long. The key is to just keep working diligently on it.
      You will get there eventually. 😁

      @@carrot7215Any recommended exercises? Ive been drumming since I was 13, but I've started to stagnate. Mostly cause I never bothered with actually learning like I should have been.

    • @carrot7215
      @carrot7215 3 роки тому

      @@stick-itproductions.3307 Yeah. My favorite to this day is double stroke rolls. Catch is do it somewhere without rebound (i do it in my leg)
      RR LL RR LL RR LL etc.
      Start with your dominant hand and see how fast you can do 4 strokes (use a metronome). I recommend starting at 60 bpm then working to your peak (when you know you cant keep up the pace).
      Write the time down in your head because you will do the same with your non dominant hand. The non dominant hand should be slower. Work on making your non dominant hand (NDH) equal with your DH. When they are relatively the same, work on the rolls til you can struggle a 200bpm double stroke roll
      Now why is this? This is because now you have muscle memory for the speed and technique. Now play around with it!
      EX:RL RL LL RR now flip it! LR LR RR LL
      Lastly now you use the linear fill from the video R L L (3/4). This is the perfect exercise for discomfort lol. Now things come full circle, remember the double stroke rolls? Well the same principle applies here. Time your DH, than get your NDH at the same speed (use a metronome!!).
      If you got here, then you use everything you just learned on a fill. Then flip the fill mid way to make it more difficult. I hope it makes sense. Always rely on your worst hand to push it to be just as good as your DH. If you start a song with your left hand, start with the right. A fill starts with right hand? Switch it!
