ABOUT US
We’re Colin and Samir, creators based out of Los Angeles California. We make videos about the creator economy, and the lessons we’ve learned over 10 years of being on UA-cam. We also interview creators and try to get to the bottom of what’s working on UA-cam and where the creator economy is headed.d
I love that two guys in their thirties can have such respect and admiration for a young woman in her early twenties. You don't see that often.
That’s because people in their early 20s dont have much world experience and are ignorant. Emma has a great comedy, but she seems lost and hesitant
True
@@teacup3370 I know it's kind of stupid but this comment kinda pissed me off. I don't know if you have seen them but there are subreddits in Reddit called AITA or Am I The A-hole? and lately I've been seeing ones that has really shocked me with how shitty people can be, so let me tell you that, being a 20, almost 21 year old person, those stories and life itself in my short period of time in this world have really showed me how stupid, immature and affectively irresponsible adults can be and how many MANY of them lack emotional intelligence. We as young adults, yes we maybe lack "world experience" but sometimes that is not necessary at all when being a rational, functional human being in this society, when we have 30+ year old people making stupid decisions and learning not even an ounce from them. So I guess, yes, the age at the end of the day will make a difference in how you behave or how you act socially, even your hobbies , but sometimes it is not even a millimeter close of being directly proportional on how you make decisions, treat other people or acknowledging your mistakes and assuming the consequences of them, or just being responsible AT ALL. So yeah, everytime I see these types of comments minimizing how mature a 20-something year old can be it always pisses me off because I tend to assume that not only that person must be a 30+ year old but also that probably that person is the type that blame everything on the gen zs or that says that gen zs are too sensible or that sort of crap.
yeah it is amazing (but also shocking that we are surprised by it because adults should behave that way so that just confirms what I said that, really, adults are kinda worthless) seeing two grown-ass men literally just respecting and acknowledging the journey of a young girl and not just ridiculizing it as if they were not that age, because that's other thing, millenials, boomers, baby boomers, whatever, they tend to forget they were our age at one point, so what I do believe is that they're just jealous from the fact that we have this much access to so much information that would let us grow not only personally or professionally, but also intelectually, but they at our age were literally licking their thumbs (not literally of course but y'all get what I mean).
@@teacup3370are ignorant? what? why? what I truthfully think is ignorance=judging the younger generation like that
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but leaving in Emma's long pauses as she thinks about what she'll say next is an elegant way of showing us both how deliberate she is and how crowded her thoughts must be.
Yeah I liked that too
Appreciate that! Our thought was there's text and then there's subtext. The pauses convey something. Losing that 'something' would be taking away from what she's trying to say.
...or she's conjuring lies....
@@ckblackwoodmusic That’s a very pessimistic way of thinking :(
@@SweetPotato3507 That makes it inaccurate?
It’s so wild that she hardly uses filler words! Just genuine pauses. It’s so different. I don’t know Emma but I’m genuinely drawn in by the way she talks
I was so unnerved by it initially, but you're right, it's interesting and different
I need to get better at doing the same!
She is very smart.
She’s an amazing communicator and great at expressing herself. Deff expert in her field 🌸
That’s honestly how she vlogs too, it gives her character.
You guys did a GREAT job letting her speak for long periods of time without interrupting her thought. Thank you so much for that.
i loved when it would cut to them both just bobbing their heads appreciatively while she’s talking hahahah
Emma is actually very popular in China, on different platforms. A lot of people, especially young girls, start watching her to learn English listening and speaking, and then find her videos really interesting, her personality special and her thoughts relatable. Many friends including me watch her videos and listen to her podcast over and over again. Love her.
Same in Russia. She's so articulate so we understand what she says. But I think beginners should start with Emma's old videos where she shows and does what she says. We love Emma too!🤩
3 hours of an interview is soooo DELICIOUS and very appropriate
exactly thank god
It’s scrumdidlyjmptios.
You guys are incredible listeners. As a woman, thank you for listening, even as Emma pauses in her thought process.
THIS!!!!!! I was about to comment this as well
@@julialumina1615 It totally caught me off guard too- the fact that I realized they were being respectful and not cutting her off mid-thought. This should be normal!!!
I was thinking this the entire way through! Lol
YESSS!!
it’s interesting you mention her thought pauses because it always stands out to me when she talks. it’s part of what makes her so fucking articulate. when she pauses, most other people use filler words like “umm”. instead, she has the composure to always think of something profound to say. she’s brilliant.
I've been waiting for this one!!!! Congrats on the interview guys. Emma Chamberlain - a true trailblazer!
YES! A chicken shop with emma anyone?
love seeing queens support queens

This is the most excited I’ve been for an interview in a while
Same
Oh my god this is exactly the kind of podcast I’ve been wanting from Emma
shes also went on Last Meals recently on mythical kitchen
yes finally good questions
Manifestations guys
I knowww these are the areas I wish she went to in her own podcast!! Giving that insider knowledge and insight instead of being surface level and vague. She’s so interesting to hear these things from
Emma is such a fucking legend, 22 years old and so mature, smart, aware and sophisticated ❤ I'm 15 years older than her and I'm just in awe
Honestly, same. Well, I'm 27.
A legend? what type of content made her a legend? honestly? she was in the right place in the right time with and addiction for attention, like most people were in the last 10 years on here. I honestly think that you guys are just into her.
@@GregorioStyreco 1. you're definitely pathetic, 2. made most of her opportunity, where people don't capitalize.
That's what all of these commenters are. It's wild because Emma is incredibly shallow in most ways. This entire conversation was Colin giving her talking points and her saying "yeah yeah exactly." Then, every time she speaks on her own it's just the most incredibly mundane idea most influencers would use. @@GregorioStyreco
@@GregorioStyreco if you don't see what makes her someone to look up to and learn from then congrats maybe you're a legend yourself
emma's one of the only creators/celebrities who feels like a breath of fresh air every single time. even with all the fame and money, she just always feel so real. i love that about her. it is truly a comforting presence to have among this overly saturated industry.
I remember watching the marathon video and thinking she was forcing herself to make videos that she was not interested in.
Yea, and I think the reason why everyone kept watching those is because people just want to watch Emma herself and not the content specifically. I guess that's why no one got bored of what Emma thinks is boring.

Her relationship with her parents is something to envy, so glad she was able to realize how fortunate she was at such a young age from becoming so successful, so quickly. Love you Emma, thank you Colin and Samir for asking the questions others haven't.
Something I've always really admired about Emma is her ability to trust her gut. When she says she just "can't vlog forever", that is her trusting her instincts instead of continuing to do what has been doing "well" (from an audience's perspective). She follows what feels authentic to her and is confident about her choices! That is what it seems at least!
amazing interview so insightful 🤍
Elliot + Colin/Samir next 👀
I love watching her unpack her creative purpose and identity over time. We all have to do that - she’s putting words to feelings that every 20 something experiences.
After listening to you guys talk about her so many times as example, it feels so good to know that you finally got her on the show!!
She is so successful and makes it look effortless. So glad y'all got her. She's always so honest and upfront.
She is a savvy girl
The insane power the wide shots & the silence within the conversation have over the feel of this video is bonkers. Loved every part of this interview!
THIS
same, i usually watch everything at 2x (especially podcasts) but i deliberately turned this to 1x speed
A THREE HOUR CONVO WITH EMMA OMG
I think what I liked most about this was that when Colin & Samir would fangirl over her, Emma didn’t act embarrassed or self-conscious and was actually flattered and appreciative. I got this feeling that she realized that she was herself lightning in a bottle and understands that as relatable as she was, she was still very unique in the creator space.
My thought exactly. It's almost like Emma is an enigma to them. ❤
What a great convo. Love Emmas pauses to think instead of using filler words
Damn I could’ve gone 12 hours listening to you all talk. I felt like a fly on a wall in the middle of such a wholesome conversation. I’m so proud to see Colin and Samir do this interview more than all of the others combined. This felt like a win for all of us watching.
colin and samir are so good at their jobs and it was so wonderful to see emma at ease
im not trying to be like did you watch? but she literally i think had a lot of anxiety with this because she hesitated so much with every question... and then they literally question her every answer.... and it like never ends
@@Cheyannerose12I feel the exact opposite. In my opinion, she was taking time to craft a thoughtful response, which is not at all indicative of uneasiness, and also not the same as hesitation. And as for Colin and Samir, responding to answers with more questions IS being good at their job. They are inquisitive, they are digging deeper, they are guiding the conversation. My pet peeve as a listener is when podcast hosts don’t do these things, and instead let certain topics go unaddressed or unfinished.
Amazing interview!
Side note: Emma would be a great voice actor (for an animated movie)
She did this recently!
@@hayleyhawkinswich movie can u please share it with me?
@@armaninoga3125 look up simon hanselmann emma chamberlain!!

Aww like your content too ❤️
The way she talked about tiktok genuinely convinced me to finally put a screen time limit on my phone because I am very addicted but I haven't seen or heard anyone talk about it in a way that made me confront the fact that it is an addiction and there is no positive outcome.
she is unbelievably well spoken and mature for her age. The way she pauses before speaking to make sure she is saying what she means to say/figuring out how to say it is amazing
oh yall are goated this is crazy
Such a great conversation. Emma's personality is so honest and reflective - it pairs well with you guys being able to just stay present and peel back layers. I'm only halfway and it's probably my favourite conversation yet.
Also, don't you dare think I didn't notice Colin's microphone...
I feel so lucky that I never had to think so deeply about my life at age 21/22 like Emma needs too. She’s so mature, but part of me feels bad that she’s never just been able to be her age and act her age. The internet is so hard on this girl, but I’ve been such a huge fan for years even being a couple years older than her. Glad she’s following her passion and doing things that make her happy ❤️
What Emma says about her relationship with her parents influencing her authenticity is so true. I'm like 12+ years older than Emma but I was raised by very excellent and level-headed parents who I could be very honesty with. That set me up for a life where I don't understand people who need to be anything other than who they are showing up as. Maybe this common thing is what made me gravitate to Emma years ago, but anyways, thank you for sharing this interview and I love it.
Some wonderful things I took away from this conversation.
- "Find validation in a space they can control." - where many creators start creating.
- "It becomes what it becomes when I am editing." - where magic happens.
- "Don't let money give you bad ideas.Make it a creative partner. "
The money part of this conversation was SO interesting to me. I think the fact that Emma doesn’t know how much money she’s got is quite wise. Like she said - if you know it’s there, often that creates an urge to spend it on things you do not need and, in fact, barely want. Being financially free to the extent that you can spend without checking your balance is crazy.
"...always somewhat in the cool kid group... but always the least cool," resonates so hard with me.
Emma we are not mad at you, we will stay and we love you!
did no one else paid attention to that framed paragraph behind colin and samir? love the detail.✨
the genuine adoration Colin & Samir give to creators like Emma that are much more than just an influencer, she is so smart & truly a driving force in social media/modern entertainment. Women are often overlooked especially on UA-cam, they are praised less for their success and the business knowledge and skills they apply to being successful is quite impressive. I don’t think Emma is famous on accident. It is because of her brain, her personality, and how she makes choices in her life. I’m 24 years old so I find her very inspiring as someone to look up to in the creator community in my age range. ❤
I agree with the compliments for Emma but I'm sick of this misconception that women are somehow overlooked or praised less for their success. It's just not true
speaking as a paycheck to paycheck person, Emma was happier before mega fame, before more money than she knew what to do with living in a modest apartment complex with a two bedroom with her her mom and her cats and dogs. seeing her become genuinely depressed despite money should be telling. money could solve all of my problems I’m personally having right now, it doesn’t change the chemical imbalance in my brain same way it hasn’t changed Emma’s. it’s lack of understanding of mental health to act like just because she has money and stability that most of us could only dream of, doesn’t change the way her brain is wired.
YESS
Emma is truly riveting. She has a way of capturing everyone’s attention, and she’s so honest. Shes fully herself. She’s really a role model
Great collaboration, incredible interview. Good to see you back, Emma!
Agree. Good job y’all. Love how genuine Emma is
20 mins in and I’m already impressed with the interaction between the interviewers and Emma. Such brilliant questions being thrown at her with so much respect and admiration they have to analyze throughout her successful years. Emma also did a good job explaining and ideally rebutting nowadays’ opinions of her specifically in regards to her being out of touch for not being ‘a happy girl’ or deemed to be ungrateful for complaining about her life on the camera. Proud of these interviewers for giving her the space to discuss these topics openly!
Im 41 and obsessed with everything Emma and was hanging by every word and eating it up to feed my soul. Thanks to all involved I will give it another listen this was magical
I love how two men can actually be so fascinated by a women’s brain and ask no sexist questions and only talking brain to brain
🙌🏻
she puts her heart and soul into any creative project that she's doing, if she starts acting i believe it would be good ,
so exciting to hear Emma correct herself on working with brands to "get to" work with them instead of have to do a brand deal. I see so many creators take that for granted. Shows how self aware she is, no wonder she made her reputation by being her authentic self and relatable
It's amazing that colin and samir have been talking about emma since a looong time, and have said that they wanted to talked to her many times. That's why, probably, this is peak Colin and Samir. Great interview.
Now my goal in life is to become like emma's parents. Make my future children feel safe to be themselves in their own home. Something i never had.
Echoing everyone’s sentiments about letting Emma pause as she collects her thoughts and chooses her words ever so carefully. Well done, all!
This was wonderful, I also felt nostalgic just listening to it, hope there will be a part 2, so glad that Emma joined and thank you guys for this amazing podcast
I remember first hearing about Emma and thinking "whats even so special about her videos? let me see for myself" and then I became a fan. She's made some enjoyable content. Love hearing about the thought process and evolution.
I like how the light of the set makes Emma more radiant than her usual self, love this episode!
Yoo the lighting, It's soooo love on her. Chef's Kiss
Something I love about these interviews is that they always feel like therapy sessions not just for the guest but for me as a viewer. Amazing content and it was great to feel a part of this conversation!
Colin and Samir I love you guys so much! Thank you for all the hard work and the GREAT interview with Emma! Always learning so much with your content!
I love how you both give Emma the space and time to speak without trying to interject or interrupt. This has become uncommon but so appreciated.
The world and our culture has changed so much and it keeps changing. I appreciate seeing how younger people are affected by tech and social media and think you all seem to be coping and learning in healthy ways
OH MY WORD! You guys snagged Emma! Congrats to you and your team... can't wait to dive in and listen.
I only know Emma from her Met interviews and her ability to make people comfortable around her and take the graceful route in sticky situations is so unbelievably admirable. You need to do a TED talk Emma.
The boys always talk about wanting to do more “documentaries” and this felt like that. Talking to someone who has b-roll of their life and then just is willing to sit down and talk about it all. Best Emma Doc.
she's so fun haah
The Emma episode! Your interviews are always a treat!
This is a full circle for me - first video I’ve ever watched from Colin and Samir was the Emma Chamberlain video and now they’ve actually got the opportunity to interview her! Man, what a blessing
Here's the perfect example of how much I love the way Emma Chamberlain thinks. Watched this all the way through and learned so much about life itself too.
y'alls ability to go one step deeper with guests is special. took a lot away from this one boys. loved her statement of "not trying to beg for your view".
THE parents point was so so so accurate and makes a lot of sense
I love your unfiltered conversations! They’re always so captivating and you two do a great job of asking genuinely interesting questions, it’s such a great watch every time. I wasn’t an Emma watcher but I know of her, it was nice to learn more about her from her own perspective. Great work!!
I believe Emma would make a really wonderful actress with a good contemporary script and skilled film director would be amazing. Emma and Kelly Wasaka in a light hearted comedy would be really fun.
Such a great conversation between three sensitive and inspiring people! Thank you Emma, Colin and Samir!
You guys continue to set the bar higher for guests. Love to see this for you guys, can’t wait to have you on my podcast
Emma’s so mature, levelheaded, and confident. It’s been amazing to see her growth over the years
Damn I can respect her for who she is.....and at the same time realize we view life a little differently. I guess having such crazy success so early really gave her the opportunity to grow up and learn a lot fast but I can also tell that she is disconnect in a way from regular life which is understandable. Her success is undeniable and the interview was very interesting!
I agree, no one in the comments is noticing anything about her disconnect. I mean does she? I can sense a serious turmoil in her thought which is probably why she is so wordy, speaking slow, and contradicting herself. It makes it hard to watch imo. I wish she would just be honest even if everything isn’t sunshine and rainbows.
Just as Emma’s content is/was so unique, yours is too! You two have a way of really making guests comfortable and asking interesting questions without overstepping or overdramatising ❤
HOW DO YOU GUYS BRING THE UA-camR I'M OBSESSED WITH AT THE MOMENT EVERY SINGLE TIME?!!
I waited so long for this interview!
I loved it ❤
Smiled through the entire interview. She is a special human being.. truly. Happy for her success, well deserved.
I've watched less than a quarter of Emma's content, but there is a deep comfort every time I see her, no matter the medium. Her authenticity is so rare to see and such a breath of fresh air.
I think people love Emma so much because she doesn't try to create the perfect UA-cam video or present herself as perfect. She is raw. She shows herself being human, unlike other creators, and that is what sets her apart.
i freaking love this bc as a fan, these are the questions i would love to ask her. it's great seeing a conversation between ppl who appreciate her work and actually are curious to understand :)
As an optician, thank you so much for the appreciation of optics conversion. I loved it so much.
As someone who’s been on this platform for over a decade, I am so glad Emma chose to do a podcast with people this well versed on her. Thank you so much.
The kind of emma interview we’ve all been looking for. Loved every min.
I love how they didn’t edit out the pauses in sentences as Emma spoke. This is one of the best interviews of an online celebrity I’ve seen.
Enjoyed this interview so much🙌🏻 Thank you for doing this episode!!! A full circle moment.🩵
Love your video on emma
i dont think i have ever watched a youtube video this long...and yet I could've watched for longer! it was such a good energy between you three. i need a part two and maybe threeee one day
I just finished this one after watching part after part for like 4 days straight and I am thankful that quality content like this exists on this platform. Thank you!
I am so glad that the Colin and Samir channel became a podcast channel
The interview we've been waiting for! I discovered her thanks to your video on her, and I also discovered you because of that same video. 😊
I dont know who this girl is but she seems pretty cool. I like how she would just pause to think about what shes saying. It's kinda refreshing
Thank you Emma!! Colin and Samir, I’ve been subbed for so long and have always enjoyed your growth - it’s really paying off, the three of you had such a grounded and grounding conversation. I plan to put this in my top favorites for the moment as it’s filled with so many notes of wisdom that I need to hear more than once.
first of all, the camera quality is insane!! second, i love how yall navigated this conversation. truly engaging, learned a lot, and a relaxing listen.
What emma said about her life being effected by always being the last choice is the most relatable thing. It has changed me in so many ways since a young age
I had never watched Emma before this, not becuase I didn't know who she was but I thought she was completely out of my sphere of viewing. A friend of mine speaks very highly of her content and I always just kinda brushed it off. Yet, after listening to a bit of this I watched some of the 'one word title vlogs' and I REALLY get it now. Incredibly inspiring to see someone go through the "natural youtuber progression" of making a product, a podcast & go mainstream without losing the factors which brought them there in the first place. Lovely interview!
Samir is so reflective and thoughtful. All his questions are so different and well thought and observational
Emma is such an old, intelligent soul. Her self, social, and emotional intelligence is on such a sophisticated level. I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening to her, no matter what she does or talks about. She is going to keep us intrigued, entertained, and wanting more. I'm looking forward to what the future holds for you and your career, Emma. -Much Love💕
Colin & Samir are so dang genuine & it is refreshing af
As an aspiring creator I love these videos!
When I’m working from home doing work I’m not passionate about it’s very comforting to be able to throw on these interviews while I work and still feel like I’m learning and making progress towards my goals.
As always, the video quality is amazing! I love the production.
I can't believe she is 22. She achieved so much at such a young age. Super inspiring
i love the interpretation of the one word title videos.. it felt like we’d reached the point in our “friendship” with emma where u just hang out at eachothers house and do nothing together like the friend that doesn’t require social battery
I just wanted to say Thank You Colin and Samir for such great content! You get me through work
nice to see emma being explicitly appreciated by fellow creators.
