  • Garage Door Opener Circuit Board Replacement: I had 2 garage door openers break within a couple months of each other. The first one I didn't have to replace right away but after the second one broke, I needed to replace it. The motor failed and I new unit was purchased. When looking at the unit that was removed, I thought I might try swapping the circuit board of the damaged unit into the other one that seemed to have more of an electrical problem. Here's how I did it.

Thank you for this video: *(Installation was simple and straightforward! Time: 30 - 45 minutes)*
    ✔ I watched your video
✔ I took a picture of the model number and manufacture date of my garage door opener
✔ I ordered the replacement board from Chamberlain
✔ I received the replacement board
✔ I watched your video again
✔ I took a picture of the wiring before doing anything
✔ *I used a Sharpie and wrote "L" and "R" on the white wires to make sure I did not confuse them*
✔ I unplugged the garage opener and followed the instructions in your video *(I found that by using a taller ladder made it easier to unplug the circuit board connector from the old board and later plug in the circuit board connector to the new board)*
✔ *I set the UP and DOWN adjustment screws on the new circuit board to match the old circuit board settings*
✔ I plugged in the garage door opener and *IT WORKED!!*
✔ I verified the safety reverse worked
✔ I programmed 3 garage door remotes in less than 2 minutes. *The garage door remote programming is so fast (Press and hold the remote button for the door, press and release the garage door opener Learn button, and the garage door opener light will flash when it is programmed. Time: 15 seconds per remote)*
    ✔ *Done*

I have a 1/2 hp liftmaster professional exactly like yours but big box stores in my area have Chamberlain. Looks like the holes lined up and you didn't have to alter anything... Easy swap ? Any particular model Chamberlain you found that lines up nicely with the old liftmaster?

I bought the new board on Amazon. They will match it up for you. They have to be exact or the remotes might not work. I originally received the wrong model number but Amazon had the correct one sent the same day. I have swapped out 2 of these with great success.

Home Depot recently had the 1/2 hp for 129.00. I just bought the logic board from Chamberlain for about 85 dollars including shipping. The board was pretty easy to change out.

My Liftmaster garage door opener was so old that replacement logic boards for my model were discontinued. My problem was that the remote would not work with the opener lights on. I chose to replace all the electrolytic capacitors on the logic board so now all is well.

Good to hear. Better than buying a new unit.
