PSA for anyone looking to buy a new refrigerator that uses R134. Someone else mentioned this below and it happened with my recent purchase of a new GE side by side. The floor model showed R134. When my new refrigerator was delivered, it turned out to be using R600. So even if you find a floor model using R134, in the end you may wind up with a refrigerator using R600.
Going back some years ago I was working for appliance service contractors part time. I am still in touch with people who are servicing appliances. My specialty work was servicing TVs, monitors, audio systems, and video tape machines. I also did some appliance servicing at times. From what I have seen best appliances for reliability have been the GE, Electrolux, Bosch, and Kitchen Aid. Some models scored a bit better than others. But, overall they are very good. Most of the problems in fridges have been with the ice makers and the water coolers. Most models of fridges today come with water and ice features. Many people don't put in the water connection. It can be a big hassle with the filters and keeping it clean. There are the very high end appliances that have terrific service and high reliability, but for most people these are far too expensive. These are Miele, Fisher and Paykel, Thermador, and WOLF Sub Zero. This is the same for the ovens, cook tops, and ranges. In the regular affordable type appliances staying with the US and German based manufactures have had the best reliability, and best availability for parts and service. The appliances from the S.Korean manufactures were the worse of the lot for reliability and availability for replacement parts! I have seen important replacement parts take over three months. The customers had no properly working fridge. Some were completely failed. The solution was to abandon the fridge for a new one or to buy another to use temporarily. One thing about the S.Korean appliances is they were among the nicest looking and have the most sophisticated features. Sophisticated features use more computer type circuit boards which adds to less potential long term reliability. Whatever you buy it is a wise idea to take an extended warranty. It is an assurance in case something expensive fails. In some of these appliances a repair cost can easily far exceed what you would pay to have a few extra years of extended warranty. For example in an induction range some of the circuit boards can cost from over $600 to over $1800 just for the board alone without the installation cost. With age these do sometimes fail. On a $6,500 induction range I have seen a number of times an out of warranty repair costing over $2200 because the main power driver board for the cook top failed. The customer gambled on not having a service contract at the time of purchase.

I learned today that many floor models are the r134a, but that is not what you will be buying. You’ll get the updated model with the r600a. Look at the model number on the inside label of the fridge and then the model on the store price tag. Likely they will be different by a letter or two and that’s where they sneak in the r600. They just haven’t updated the floor models.

Super impressive and honest. I learned so much about mechanical aspects not normally discussed. I liked to hear you personal opinion as to brands and evaporation systems.
Thank you so much for this video. My GE side by side is dying a slow death after 18 years of non-stop use and so I was looking at the fancy French door Refrigerators out there but now I realize that we should stick with the proven reliability of GE and will be buying another GE side by side.
Hello, could you please recommend a refrigerator thats +28cu ?the kitchenaid and wirlpool you presented are good but too small for my needs.Thank you in advance!
I would advise verifying that the refrigerant used is R134A and that it has a single evaporator. You might encounter some difficulty sourcing R134A, but if you manage to find it, that would be ideal. Just consult the data sticker to determine whether it's R600 or R134A. Best of luck!
Great review. It was a BIG help to learn about the single and dual compressors and the R134 vs R600 refrigerant. Make a lot of sense and makes it much easier to select WHICH refrigerator to purchase based on just those two facts!
I found out today that GE refrigerators have RFID tags on their water filters, which means the inexpensive replacements from Amazon won’t work. I have a 12 year old Whirlpool side by side, but I’m wanting a French door, so I will probably stick with Whirlpool.
Your video had a lot of great information. I found the compressor issue interesting since I’m looking for a new refrigerator. I’m having problems finding out if the r600 compressor is installed. Where did you find this info? I’m researching GE’s online and haven’t found the info. Is it in the refrigerator itself? If so I’ll need to look in person. Thank you for the info!
On the GE site, if it is an updated model with R600a it will say so, if not it won't say any compressor (as if R600a is a good thing! NOT!) Most of the GE models that use the R134a refrigerant are now discontinued, unfortunately.
Great info. Thanks a lot for your point of view. Was looking at the Cafe CQE28DM5NS5 quad door that has a triple evaporator not sure of refrigerant. What would be your suggestion for a quad door refrigerator? We do not like the pull out drawers due to food getting lost based on how it gets stored.
Great review. Your honesty is welcome. I've had Kitchen Aid and Samsung and the Kitchen Aid was great, but I replaced it with a Samsung and the ice make has to be defrosted manually every month. Horrible ice maker.
What’s your thoughts on this one? Thanks. Samsung 32 cu. ft. Mega Capacity 3-Door French Door Refrigerator with Dual Auto Ice Maker in Stainless Steel. RF32CG5400SR. We just got it. Comes with a one year warranty. But we got a 5 year warranty. BBC
Thank you so much! Our new whirlpool fridge ice maker kept breaking and it was a headache! I’m going to check the specs on it! I’m shopping for a diff model now. What store do you recommend buying from for unexpected repairs?
@@onlineappliancetech it’s a r34a whirlpool MODEL WRX735SDHZ04 .. the ice maker is complete junk. The gears keep breaking. And the ice stopped then the water, now it flooded my floors and seeped into my hardwoods. I was happy to see it’s a r34a after hearing your feedback, but where did I go wrong in buying this so I don’t make the same mistake again? I want the double doors, but there’s a wall next to the fridge and it won’t open all the way. I really don’t like the pull out drawer freezer, but it may be the only option due to that wall. The ice maker and water are absolute needs in our house. We live in the hot south and have to stay hydrated a lot. Which would you recommend? Btw, I called the company I bought it from, threatened to call my state attorney general over the deceptive practices from Whirlpool, and they offered me a full refund and to come pick it up. So I’m taking it. And whirlpools going to foot the bill for my hardwoods. Everyone should be filing consumer protection complaints with their state AG over these pieces of crap they’re selling for the price of a small car. It’s the only way to make them fix the issues.
The GE Profile Model #PVD28BYNFS is a French door refrigerator with some high-end features. However, I should note that individual preferences can vary greatly, and what is an excellent choice for one person might not work as well for another. It's always a good idea to check customer reviews and consider your specific needs before making a purchase. Here are some features of the GE Model #PVD28BYNFS that you might find appealing: 1. **Size**: With 27.9 cu. ft. of storage space, this model is sizable and should be more than adequate for most families. 2. **Design**: The French door design offers a modern look and practical functionality. It also features a door-in-door design that allows easy access to beverages and snacks. 3. **Advanced Water Filtration**: The model uses the RPWFE Replacement Filter, which reduces trace pharmaceuticals from water and ice. 4. **TwinChill Evaporators**: This feature separates climates in the fresh food and freezer sections to help maintain temperature and humidity levels to keep foods fresh. 5. **LED Lighting**: It uses LED lighting that gently brightens every corner of your refrigerator. 6. **Wi-Fi Connectivity**: This model is Wi-Fi connected, so you can use your smartphone to control the settings from anywhere. Remember, the key is to choose a refrigerator that fits your needs, whether in terms of size, functionality, or features. A fridge is a big purchase, so take your time to evaluate this model and others thoroughly. Make sure to consider other factors like energy efficiency, warranty, and after-sales service.
I want to buy one but you took all my hope to find one , I have a Maytag is know is now 15 years old never had a problem, still want to buy one just in case Maytag gives up on me (still keep it ) Thought to buy a LG but you said is not good so I have to rethink it, really like the door ice maker, because otherwise it take so much room away from the top shelve , not many to choose for the right one
@@German-heartbeat I feel the same as you, I keep making decisions on a model and as soon as I look at the specifications I have to change my options again. I am in the UK and GE don’t seem to be stocked a great deal, the same goes for Kitchen Aid. We had chosen a Whirlpool and had a delivery date. After much measuring of doorways, pathways, taking photos, having a home survey to ensure the large heavy fridge freezer could get delivered and removing inner doors to aid delivery, the Hotpoint delivery guys refused to deliver the appliance and drove away with it. (No stairs involved in delivery). I would add that I have an American FF installed in my kitchen, so it is possible to get one into our property. It’s a complete nightmare and I am finding it a relentless task. Good luck to you🙂🙀
Ask a Salesperson: The store's sales staff should be knowledgeable about the products they sell. They should be able to tell you whether a specific refrigerator model has a single or dual evaporator. Look for Key Words on the Label: If the refrigerator is a high-end model or uses the dual evaporator as a selling point, the feature may be mentioned on the product label, tags, or descriptions displayed in the store. Look for terms like "Dual Cooling", "Twin Cooling", or similar phrases.
@@balla2828 Single evaporator works both to cool the refrigerator and the freezer for cooling, dual evaporators mean one that works the cooling for the freezer and another separate one that does the cooling for the refrigerator. Hope that helps.
Great video, particularly getting into the differences between R600 and R134. I am looking for a a new refrigerator and was wondering if anyone recenlty had luck finding a model that uses R134 at BestBuy, Lowes, HomeDepot, etc? And if so - which model and at what store? I get the impression that we will soon reach a point (if we have not already) that there will be no more R134 models available.
Thank you for watching the video and I'm glad you found the information helpful! As for finding a refrigerator that uses R134, I would recommend checking with the stores you mentioned and also looking online. It's possible that some models may still be available, but it's always a good idea to do some research before making a purchase.
I have a question on the GE model you mentioned. The GNE27JMMES. I believe you said it has a single evaporator cooling system. I am looking at the Lowes site and it says it is a dual cooling system.
how can I tell if the refrigerator has R600? Is it written on the label or something? Our Samsung 4 door, flex cooling refer failed for the second time in 7 years. We bought a Whirlpool to replace it, only because we've have good luck with them in the past. Of course, the past doesn't guarantee it will be any better.
How do you get one that is not the r600? I looked at Home Depot today and found only one fridge that had something other than r600. Also how do you tell from the specs online? It looks like you have to look at the actual physical unit tag inside the compartment to tell and then some say that does not guarantee you will still not get shipped the r600. Thanks for any insight.
Look for a Label or Plate on the Fridge: Most refrigerators will have a label or plate (often located at the back, bottom, or inside the fridge) that provides information about the model, including the type of refrigerant used. Look for the word "Refrigerant" followed by the type, which in this case would be "R600a" if your fridge uses an R600a compressor. Hope this helps!
I can vouch that Samsung is straight trash. 3000+ dollar fridge thinking I would have it forever (replaced my 30 year old refrigerator). Year and a half later I'm watching videos figuring out what to buy next
Samsung makes GE. I had a GE and the panel in the back of the fridge kept freezing and leaking into the fridge it was awful. Saw lots of same problems with Samsung.
Identifying the type of compressor in your appliance can be a bit challenging. However, the date sticker on your refrigerator should provide you with key information, such as the type of refrigerant used, which could be R-134A or R600
Verify Informative video. Was wondering would you recommend the newer version of the Kitchen Aid French door You recommended toward the end of the video. I think the older model is discontinued. This New Model is KRFF577KPS has single system but I’m not sure if its r600 Im assuming it is cause its newer.
Yes, you're correct; they are phasing out the R-134 model. A single evaporator is preferable over dual evaporators. If you decide to get one, ensure you clean the condenser coils every 8 months. This helps prevent the compressor from being overburdened.
@@onlineappliancetech the newer version is still single evaporator but I believe it’s r600. I’m also looking at the GE PGE29BYTFS. It’s fairly new but I like that there is no ice in door. Both are 2,799 Labor Day sale. What would you pick between those two ?
I'm in the market for a new fridge and have found a few models with R134A refridgerant. My concern is since that refrigerant is phasing out, what happens when that needs replacement? Any ideas? Very informative video, thank you!
Hello! While it's accurate that R134A refrigerant is gradually being phased out in various places because of environmental reasons, the complete discontinuation of R-134 Freon will likely take a long time. I believe there's no immediate cause for concern
Yes they last longer, and not as expensive to repair if breaks later down the road. I would recommend a single evaporator, 134A Refrigerant. You can find info on date sticker.
Hi, saw your reviews I know you don’t like LG but I saw a good video on the exact model I was looking at from Yale appliances. What do you think of model LRFLC2706S. Hasn’t been bought yet. What was the nature of the lawsuit against LG thank you.
Thank you for honest reviews. I have a Kenmore 27cu ft side-by-side, about 15 years old. I had to replace the compressor starter twice now. Is there a good universal starter that is better than the OEM starter?
I appreciate your agreeable remark! I'm of the opinion that there isn't a universally superior starter compared to the one provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). I presume you're referring to a relay that initiates the compressor?
I appreciate all your professional input! I have not been able to find the GE 27.0 French Door model GNE27JMMES that has an r34 refrigerant (which was stated). Did you mean r134? If so, I could not find that in the model as well. It is listed as 600a. I am trying to reach GE to check.
Hi, did you find out about the R134 refrigerant. I was planning to purchase the same model GNE27JMMES in stainless steel before Nov 26 to take advantage of the Thanksgiving sale prices.
Owned a Samsung French Door and it has been a nightmare. I heard the Bosch 800 is a good one with dual compressors but a bit pricey. What do you think of Bosch overall or is Kitchen Aid a better product?
When it comes to home appliances, particularly refrigerators, both Bosch and KitchenAid have carved a niche for themselves in the market. The preference for one over the other often comes down to specific needs, priorities, and experiences. Here's a comparative analysis: Bosch: Quality and Reliability: Bosch is known for its engineering and consistently manufactures high-quality appliances. The Bosch 800 series, with dual compressors, is an example of their commitment to innovation and efficiency. Design: Bosch typically has a sleek, modern design which many homeowners appreciate. The minimalist design fits seamlessly into a range of kitchen aesthetics. Efficiency: Bosch's dual compressors can lead to better efficiency and temperature control, which could mean longer-lasting fresh food. Noise: Bosch refrigerators tend to be quieter, which is a significant advantage for open-concept homes or for those sensitive to noise. KitchenAid: Brand Reputation: KitchenAid is well-regarded, particularly in the U.S., and is often praised for its reliability and longevity. Features: KitchenAid offers a range of features in their refrigerators, from water dispensers to specialized compartments for herbs. Aesthetics: They often have a bolder design, with some models sporting a commercial-kitchen look that many homeowners love. Customer Service: KitchenAid generally has good customer service and warranty terms, which can be a decisive factor for many buyers. Considerations: Price: As you mentioned, Bosch, especially their high-end models like the 800 series, can be pricier. It's essential to weigh the benefits against the cost. Service and Repairs: Check the availability of service centers in your area. Some brands may have more extensive service networks, making repairs more straightforward. User Reviews: While both brands are reputable, it's a good idea to check recent reviews and perhaps forums for user experiences specific to the models you're considering. Conclusion: Both brands have their strengths. If you're looking for a more technologically advanced, efficient, and quieter refrigerator and are willing to pay a premium, the Bosch 800 series might be the way to go. On the other hand, if you're seeking reliability, aesthetics, and perhaps a more favorable price point, KitchenAid could be the better choice. Regardless of the brand you choose, it's always a good idea to purchase from a retailer with a good return policy and warranty support.
I have a Samsung and it needs to be taken apart every two weeks as it constantly freezes up and ice hits the fan. So they put the defrost element on the bottom and the top is where it freezes!
@@onlineappliancetech thanks for your response. I’ve spoken to whirlpool and their compressor is now also a r600a they said most fridges will be r600 due to emissions laws. This just confuses me even more. So does that mean there’s no chance of getting a reliable fridge these days. I’m in Australia, I thought I’d narrowed it down to whirlpool or Westinghouse but even with these brands you still get dodgy ones. Do you know if I bought one with a recently manufactured r600a whether there’s been an improvement with reliability lately?
Seems like you can't buy anything without issues these days. Shopping for a fridge is an absolute nightmare, I'd rather shop for a vehicle. Makes me think industrialization of society is broken.
Great warning on the R600. Some refrigerants carry lube better than others, and the R134 does. Hence the compressor issues Dual compressors mean the cool air in the refrigerator maintains humidity so food shouldn’t dry out. This is what sets Sub Zero apart in the high end line
Nice video, but you say a good refrigerator will last 5 to 10 years, years ago the old-timers built them and they lasted for 30 to40 years. What's with the new generation? Keep it simple
Thank you sir! I am shooting our Samsung that is 11 years old and is the biggest hunk of junk I've ever purchased! I will never buy Samsung products again.
Indeed, it's unfortunate that they've stopped producing R-134 A Units. If you manage to find one, I'd suggest seizing the opportunity. Current models use R600, but they're riddled with design flaws and errors. Hopefully, the manufacturers will soon rectify these issues.
Korean brands such as Samsung & LG have consistently low reliability & durability. I have several friends who complained that their KOREAN appliances gave them a great deal of headaches with breakdowns and expensive repair bills within two to three years of buying a brand new appliance . My own experience is with the cell phone SAMSUNG wherein the battery power started to progressively weaken after the second year of ownership resulting in 2-3 recharges within a day of slight usage !

Thank you for your kind words! It's always great to hear that our videos have been helpful to our viewers. Best of luck with your new GE side by side!
Hi, I am shopping for a refigerator. Please share the model number of the GE side by side. Thanks.
Any thoughts between the KitchenAid 48 inch side by side ( ice maker only ) and the monogram (48 inch side by side). Thank you so much !
Great review. It was a BIG help to learn about the single and dual compressors and the R134 vs R600 refrigerant. Make a lot of sense and makes it much easier to select WHICH refrigerator to purchase based on just those two facts!
Glad it was helpful!
I found out today that GE refrigerators have RFID tags on their water filters, which means the inexpensive replacements from Amazon won’t work. I have a 12 year old Whirlpool side by side, but I’m wanting a French door, so I will probably stick with Whirlpool.
Isn't whirlpool filter also expensive?
Informative and fun! Love the memes and GIFs
Stay away from r600 compressors...than what compressor do u recommend? What other compressors are dangerous? Heard r600 have caused explosions.
Very helpful! Idk if I can thank you enough for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Best logical review. Cheers from India
Glad you liked it!
Great review. Your honesty is welcome. I've had Kitchen Aid and Samsung and the Kitchen Aid was great, but I replaced it with a Samsung and the ice make has to be defrosted manually every month. Horrible ice maker.
Thanks for sharing!
What is a bottom freezer insignia
What’s your thoughts on this one? Thanks.
Samsung 32 cu. ft. Mega Capacity 3-Door French Door Refrigerator with Dual Auto Ice Maker in Stainless Steel. RF32CG5400SR. We just got it. Comes with a one year warranty. But we got a 5 year warranty. BBC
I’m following on this too…
I know you said to stay away from ice and water but if you want those features in French doors what do you recommend?
Thank you so much! Our new whirlpool fridge ice maker kept breaking and it was a headache! I’m going to check the specs on it! I’m shopping for a diff model now.
What store do you recommend buying from for unexpected repairs?
Glad I could help!
I’m in the market for a refrigerator. LG went bad on me. I was interested in the GE Model #PVD28BYNFS. How do you feel about that one?
The GE Profile Model #PVD28BYNFS is a French door refrigerator with some high-end features. However, I should note that individual preferences can vary greatly, and what is an excellent choice for one person might not work as well for another. It's always a good idea to check customer reviews and consider your specific needs before making a purchase.
Here are some features of the GE Model #PVD28BYNFS that you might find appealing:
Good luck to you🙂🙀
Thank you for this highly valued information!

Please add video regarding top and bottom refrigerator freezers thank you.
How do we know if a refrigerator is dual or single evaporator at the store
Ask a Salesperson: The store's sales staff should be knowledgeable about the products they sell. They should be able to tell you whether a specific refrigerator model has a single or dual evaporator.
Look for Key Words on the Label: If the refrigerator is a high-end model or uses the dual evaporator as a selling point, the feature may be mentioned on the product label, tags, or descriptions displayed in the store. Look for terms like "Dual Cooling", "Twin Cooling", or similar phrases.
@@onlineappliancetechwhat is exactly the difference between dual evaporators and single evaporators???
@@balla2828 Single evaporator works both to cool the refrigerator and the freezer for cooling, dual evaporators mean one that works the cooling for the freezer and another separate one that does the cooling for the refrigerator. Hope that helps.
@@bikertod thanks a lot and yes it is very helpful.
Yes. I called GE and they are phasing out r134 and replacing with r600 a
The sticker model # on the GSS25GMPES looked different. Can you tell me what that # was? Thanks
GSS25GMPECES
Missed your reply but from the video looks like the sticker has IY maybe a N. At 6:38. Also thinking new ones being shipped are probably R600. Thanks
Thank you. I appreciate your expert opinion
You are very welcome
I have a question on the GE model you mentioned. The GNE27JMMES. I believe you said it has a single evaporator cooling system. I am looking at the Lowes site and it says it is a dual cooling system.
Would you recommend it if it uses R600a?
What are your thoughts on the GNE25JYKFS?
I don't see any GE refrigerators that use 134a.
Same questions as above from me as well
how can I tell if the refrigerator has R600? Is it written on the label or something? Our Samsung 4 door, flex cooling refer failed for the second time in 7 years. We bought a Whirlpool to replace it, only because we've have good luck with them in the past. Of course, the past doesn't guarantee it will be any better.
How is a person able to identify whether or not the fridge they are considering has the R600 compressor or not??
Data Sticker
Forgive my ignorance, but can an R 600 be converted to a R34 operation?
No sir..
Starting 2024 they are all R600a now unless you get one manufactured before then. They all had to upgrade.
The Kitchenaid now uses R600 :(
How do you tell if a refridgerator has an r 600 compressor
Look for a Label or Plate on the Fridge: Most refrigerators will have a label or plate (often located at the back, bottom, or inside the fridge) that provides information about the model, including the type of refrigerant used. Look for the word "Refrigerant" followed by the type, which in this case would be "R600a" if your fridge uses an R600a compressor. Hope this helps!
feds looking into samsung and LG for super high number of problems reported . .
I’ve had three Samsung fridges within 5 years something failed. The ice maker malfunctioned on all and digital display lights doesn’t work.
How do you know what type of compressor does it has the refrigerator??
Identifying the type of compressor in your appliance can be a bit challenging. However, the date sticker on your refrigerator should provide you with key information, such as the type of refrigerant used, which could be R-134A or R600
What about bottom freezers with no ice or water makers?
Having neither ice nor water is actually advantageous, as it could potentially reduce future problems that may accumulate. Hope this helps!
Some of those samsung French door are not duel evaperators but yes r600 is the new gas now more problems.
Did Ihear you right? You recommend the French Door Kitchenaid because it is inexpensive to repair?
Yes they last longer, and not as expensive to repair if breaks later down the road. I would recommend a single evaporator, 134A Refrigerant. You can find info on date sticker.
I prefer old appliances without any electronics over new ones.
Every time YOU stated the R34-A refrigerant, the video showed R134. I assume they are the same?
Yes
On point. Stay away from R600. My whirlpool stop working after 12 months of use.
Hi, saw your reviews I know you don’t like LG but I saw a good video on the exact model I was looking at from Yale appliances. What do you think of model LRFLC2706S. Hasn’t been bought yet. What was the nature of the lawsuit against LG thank you.
I have only heard terrible things about Samsung and LG refrigerators
Compressor recalls for one...I'm dealing with that now. No local companies want to repair my LG brand fridge either.
@@onlineappliancetech Yes, the one that is pushed onto the side of the compressor. Thank you for replying. Maybe it's time for a new side-by-side.
I appreciate all your professional input! I have not been able to find the GE 27.0 French Door model GNE27JMMES that has an r34 refrigerant (which was stated). Did you mean r134? If so, I could not find that in the model as well. It is listed as 600a. I am trying to reach GE to check.
Indeed, it seems they are becoming increasingly difficult to find. I sincerely hope your search is successful and everything works out for you.
Here's a comparative analysis:
Bosch:
Quality and Reliability: Bosch is known for its engineering and consistently manufactures high-quality appliances.
KitchenAid:
Brand Reputation: KitchenAid is well-regarded, particularly in the U.S., and is often praised for its reliability and longevity.
Considerations:
Price: As you mentioned, Bosch, especially their high-end models like the 800 series, can be pricier.
Conclusion:
Both brands have their strengths.
Bosch all the way
Great thumbs up
Thanks

I have a Samsung and it needs to be taken apart every two weeks as it constantly freezes up and ice hits the fan. So they put the defrost element on the bottom and the top is where it freezes!
???? What's the model number?
lg compressor 10 year warranty true but you have pay for labor and any other part they just pay for compresser
Is the r600a compressor reliable or is it a dud like the r600?
R600 and R600a is the same thing.

Good luck finding R134a refrigerant anymore. Everything at this date in manufacturing is R600.
Well, the only thing in my area is R600 compressors. Guess I should get an old school ice box and get ice delivered.
I like your videos they atr informational and straight to the point.
I also like the pictures he adds to his comments 👍🏽👍🏽😅
I'm so grateful to have viewers like you who enjoy and appreciate my content! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
My LG fridge looks fantastic but it is really a shit box in term of reliability. The compressor fails after 4 years.
Great warning on the R600. Some refrigerants carry lube better than others, and the R134 does. Hence the compressor issues
Dual compressors mean the cool air in the refrigerator maintains humidity so food shouldn’t dry out. This is what sets Sub Zero apart in the high end line
They trying to send man to mars & can barely make a frig to last a few years, gotta love it.
Ge has major issue with RFID chips going bad with no fixes

For which models???

#1----FRIDGIDAIRE
WORST ONES ARE : LG and SAMSUNG
Wish I found your video earlier. I just bought an LG 27 cf counter depth French door & see it has the R600 refrigerant!
Ensure you clean the vents and condenser coils every 6 months.
Very Blurry video......cant see details or printed sticker info.
Sorry for that
So I am seeing R43 good others bad . LOL
Pretty much dont buy fridge with r600 evaporator.
No much choices in the market for french doors or side by side
I don't think these exist anymore.... Unless it's 2nd hand.
So the big note I get from this is…
R34 single evap good
R600 single or dual evap bad
Indeed, it's unfortunate that they've stopped producing R-134 A Units. If you manage to find one, I'd suggest seizing the opportunity. Current models use R600, but they're riddled with design flaws and errors. Hopefully, the manufacturers will soon rectify these issues.
@@onlineappliancetechwait so there are no r34s anymore??? No brand has them???
Korean brands such as Samsung & LG have consistently low reliability & durability. I have several friends who complained that their KOREAN appliances gave them a great deal of headaches with breakdowns and expensive repair bills within two to three years of buying a brand new appliance . My own experience is with the cell phone SAMSUNG wherein the battery power started to progressively weaken after the second year of ownership resulting in 2-3 recharges within a day of slight usage !
LG & Samsung = Run away.
So basically all new fridges are junk because they are all r600
All new fridges are r600 as 134 a is no longer made
Very true however as you see in the video they are still selling them. The 134A compressors are the way to go!
