- Hey everyone! In today's video I talk about how the 4Matic system on the W204 C300 works in the snow. Overall it is the best AWD system and I never have any issues in the snow or rain. If you are picking up this car becuase of its AWD system then you will be pleasantly surprised by how well it works.
My c300 was a tank. I was passing Subaru’s and jeeps driving up the canyon to go snow boarding with all season tires. Ended up trading it in for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. My Jeep doesn’t even compare in the snow. The confidence the c300 has is crazy. Couldn’t even feel a tire slip before the 4matic kicked in.

I have a light blue/silver one, such a pretty colour. the only thing is my fan sometimes doesn’t work but I honestly think it’s an electrical thing, I still have warranty on it so I’m gonna check it out. it drives amazing, have you decided on getting it

Yep my 2012 C300 is brilliant in the snow. I bought a cheap winter tire/rim package a few years ago and it bites into the snow with ease. Also, the motor warms up quickly in cold weather and the heated seats get nice and hot quickly. Great car for winter.
Lol my c300 4matic was a beast in the snow, i took it out of traction control and it was amazing only bad thing is how low the clearance is i'd scrape on the ice with my front bumper.
Good vid. 6 inches or more is an issue, and that's when I switch over from my c300 to my Cherokee or Wrangler. The c300 is a tank in about 6 inches or less, however.
My son just bought a 2013 C300 4 Matic today! I thought the ride was awesome and very good looking nice car! As we live in Iowa with a lot of snow and ice and he drove a Nissan Altima with winter tires and after with watching your video I’m thinking the C300 will blow that away!! Tong Cheng how is yours holding up? I found a 2014 C300 4Matic with 36K miles. Im a college student and work while going to school, I love Mercedes from a looks perspective but don’t want to worry about huge maintenance issues. I’m fine with replacing tires and doing oil changes but how will it hold up long term?

My 2012 c300 is still going strong with 100k mile on it and still no issue I love it so much

@@letmesing6868 c300 w204 is a very good and reliable car I bought my at 56k mile 3 years ago and drive everyday and now it has over 100k miles on it and still running like a champ. I never have any issue with it just oil change and replace the brakes thats all.

This was the video I was looking for. I was planning on buying a new car but I don’t want to fork over 40k. My sister said she would let me use her 2010 C300 Benz this winter when I make my trips to the mountain. I was a little skeptical at first but it seems like it will be reliable for the occasion.

Great video man the winter is coming up and I’m trying to upgrade from my 2017 s3 to a 2018 c43 and I really wanted to know if the 4matic was any good. I was considering buying a brand new a4 because Quattro is apparently better than x drive and 4 matic but I really did not want to sacrifice the performance for an a4 just to use for the winter. Again very informative video man great job explaining everything in detail, really helped me get an insight on what I want, I think I will be going for the c43 for the winter and I won’t have to worry about 4matic being that much worse than Quattro. The difference should be very minuscule I’m sure.

I wouldn't worry too much about the car as much as the type of tire matters the most. I have a separate set of winter rims/tires for my C300 4M and it goes through 1.5 feet of snow without issue. It scrapes on the bottom and you basically plow snow (since the car is low) but it is effortless in the snow. The heavier curb weight of the vehicle helps as well.
Dashcam Dumbasses I guess that’s the only thing I was really worried about was the 4wd performance in the snow compared the s3 I’m driving at the moment. I just want something that doesn’t have the Audi Quattro Haldex system in it. Not sure if your familiar with Halsey but it’s not the best 4wd system in the snow let’s put it that way.

You said the c350 does not come with 4matic but it does lol mine is a 2011 c350 4matic sport. An absolute beast in the winter!

4Matic is the third best four/all wheel drive system I've ever driven. My old Hyundai Santa Fe was *great* in the snow, plus had a lot more ground clearance. And the best would be the Humvee (the actual Humvee, not the civilian version). Still, my C300 got me home about 8 inches into a 14-inch snowstorm a couple years back.

It would be helpful to know what year car you are driving. The 4matic first came out in 1986...I'm sure this isn't an 86, but it would be good to be able to compare this to similar cars of the same series.

Why do they have 2 different oil change services?? Have you noticed a diff between them??
No the main difference is the additional services they do. So the "A" service doesn't have as much additional services that the "B" service has. A is just an oil change, air filter, etc... But B is a bigger examination of the car. The dealership should be able to tell you the differences but the oil change is the same on both

The mountains in your video look very similar to what we have in Utah. I have an ML with 4 matic but haven't tried it in the snow yet. My body has the airmatic lifting function so that probably would have helped in your situation. I am curious what area are you in. Where are those mountains in your video?

+Rico4you I wanted to include that as well unfortunately the roads were mostly cleaned up at the time I filmed the video. I wasn't able to get the car in deep snow.

I’m thinking about getting a new car soon when I finish with school, my question is, roughly how much do you spend a year on maintenance. And what do you do to make sure nothing that would be expensive happens to your c300.

Buy it ,I bought mine with 17k in 2014 (I have 2013 ) now the car has 96k miles. Hit a wall at 80 mph and it cost me 1200 ,and for maintenance just oil change (100 dollars or even less ) and you can do it yourself. This car feels more solid and fancier than any 3-4 series and Audi A4. Get the car you won’t regret.
These w204 mercedes cars have problems with driveshaft my driveshaft recently blew for no reason on my 08 c300 and same w my cousins 10 c300 at 170 k km and 70 k km which is ridiculous..

I was able to survive NY snow with all seasons on my RWD E46 BMW. Just need to be weary where you are driving through though.
is this filmed in Colorado? And is the C250 as good as the C300 in regard to driving in the snow? I live in Canada.
No it's filmed in Utah. Yeah they should be the same since it's the same awd system

C300 is not great in the snow. I've driven AUDIs, Subaru, C300 4matic, AWD 4Runners, and 4x4 Tundras. My 4Runner was the best (I know its apples to oranges here). I was always worried about the low fenders on the C300. I've spun out in the Benz but have had the 4runner save my life around the same curve (plow coming opposite direction) due to traction control straightening me out. As far as cars are concerned my WRX was a beast followed by the Audi.
your opinion, I own various 4matic and all are very good, against many that say that the BMW is better I do not believe that for one minute. My Friend X5 4 wheel drive got stuck in the mountains in CA, My Merc did not. SO that said its all a question of taste.
In Winnipeg,Canada a Mercedes C300 4matic got stuck during a winter blizzard,and required help from people to get out.
I agreed on what you said the only thing I thought that would be a problem when driving on snow is clearance because the car is pretty low. I havent drove with c300 on snow yet this coming winter is gonna be its first fight with snow. I am pretty concern with rust and that sort of thing.
Clearance was fine for me. I'd recommend just washing the under carriage often to get the salt off

I drive a C 300 4-Matic myself but this is not the best all wheel drive. Onfortunatly for you (and ofcourse myself) a Quattro from Audi is much and much better.

I believe only the C350 coupe is available with 4Matic in the US.

Couldn’t disagree more; 4Matic is far less refined and much less capable than Quattro. Mercedes’ intrusive stability programs are also very over reactive and although the rear-based 4Matic is more predictable than the front-based Quattro (even with its rear bias too), Quattro pulls through like no other. Then again, both are noticeable grades above xDrive, but I’d say 4Matic is only on par with Maserati’s Q4 system, rather than class-leading like Quattro.
Your videos are great, just please stop using such intense bad music at the beginning, almost blew my ears out 😁
