No SAE inserts all Metric.
SAE can use Long Bolts .

For the rivnuts, how do you know if it’s been properly installed? Can you feel it or just keep squeezing the handles a couple times?

Yes, just squeeze a couple times and feel to ensure it is secure. Then when you screw a bolt into it, make sure it is for firmly seated

Are the mandrels long enough to use for "plus nuts" ?

5:40 Reamer tool demo. Essentially it is a nibbler that shears off little nubs of sheet metal. Not really sure why they call it a reamer...
