This might be a weird question but here goes. My 2022 BMW X1 only supports Apple CarPlay. I own an Android phone. I see two options: Pay about $800 USD for a new iPhone or pay about $1000 for a Bimmer Tech MMI box and necessary cables. The iPhone seems reasonable (as long as it connects) as I wouldn't have to tear open my BMW to install the more expensive MMI box. I do like Android Auto and the other features of the MMI box. What's your recommendation?
I just noticed my CarPlay wouldn’t connect anymore last night, BMW iDrive connects via Bluetooth but if I try to select the “Connect via Apple CarPlay” instead of “Connect via BMW iDrive” it just doesn’t connect, it’ll even DISCONNECT entirely. I will try updating my iOS tonight when I get off work
*ahem* turn off engine and hold the Volume/power button for 30 seconds. Upon restarting the car, my iPhone asked if I wanted to connect and it’s working again :)
I have a 2018 x5 f15 and the sat radio, car play and the navigation all quit working. I have tried all the steps several times and nothing has changed.
@@bimmer-tech thanks took it to the dealer and they said the hdd failed in the head unit and want $3000 to replace it. I am waiting to hear from BMW North America because it only has 40k miles on it. If they won’t cover it I know a guy who has been working on them for 30 years he said he could put a used one in and program it to the car for $400.

Sir, my apple carplay works for my 2022 430i but all of a sudden Waze will not work or display, yet it works for me in my wifes BMW. Ive tried everything@@bimmer-tech
Hi i’m having issues with my carplay, i have carplay but there’s a split screen issue, the split screen keeps showing during the apple carplay feature and it’s irritating. i’ve turned off split screen and it just won’t go away. pls help

Can't you just activate Android Auto?

My iDrive won’t activate the wifi 😭

I don’t have Apple car play and I have a 430i grancoupe 2017 , and I don’t see the CarPlay option
Apparently it's not unlocked. We can unlock it for you within our coding bracket :)

Check the "Driving Focus" option in your Carplay. If it is enabled, you will not be able to hear anything from your navigation app.

Again, seems like software issue. The best way for you is to visit your BMW dealer.
