I just cloned my laptop's sata to an nvme 2 days ago myself and had the same issue. After a bit of testing around I wanted to open safe mode, and before selecting it, my laptop just restarted by itself and began working. Quite an experience to behold.
It actually a bad idea to use alcohol on a screen, it's actually possible to damage your screen if you do. When cleaning a screen using a microfiber cloth and distilled water works best.
@@SalemTechsperts is there any kind of like... reflective/anti glare coating or something on normal monitors usually that could be damaged by iso alcohol? or no worries? thanks
@@SalemTechsperts and by the way the ssd you load in safe mode... It won't happen to you if you plug it into a rig and install the drivers . After you install the drivers once, you can use it to clone without any problems whatsoever. It's only happens when the drive is new and never been used. So plug it in to a rig and take it's virginity... Then it'll work for cloning.
Looking at laptops that random people have I honestly can't imagine how they are still running. It's insane how most laptops look like they never have been cleaned before or taken care of at all but they still run everything the user needs. It's crazy
5:05 I tried to fix my laptop by ordering a new frame since the old one was broken. I riveted the old keyboard to the new frame, but it ended up sinking. Worse, the entire motherboard got shorted-probably due to broken traces or microfractures, since the old frame was bent and bent the motherboard too, and putting it into the new, straight frame caused further damage. It was a cheap $350 HP laptop, and the replacement frame without the keyboard cost $30. After wasting 3 hours trying to fix it, I ended up salvaging the drives, throwing it out and buying an ASUS TUF for $800 instead.
This guy did a great job with his short vids, plus the YT algorithm must like him for some reason as it kept serving up his vids and I started to watch more and more and well... here I am lol
And I thought the ball cheese on that last laptop was impressive. EDIT: For those people that ask why you don't just melt the plastic... you've clearly never had to do it. I had to do that on my brother-in-law's laptop because he didn't get the whole top panel and it is absolutely a PITA, and it often doesn't last.
Coming from a technician...it's not the end of the world if one or two breaks....most of the time it's probably due to the plastic being old and/or crusty Other times they snap because of "improper" technique or just shitty tools....in which as you go you'll learn how, how much, and where pressure is to be applied to open the case without much damage
Replacing riveted keyboard sucks. Super time consuming, they feel off, usually don't sit right so one part ends up higher or lower that the rest, and chances are it's gonna snap off the rivets since they're weakened already, so warrantying it is a pain.
After recently discovering this channel both of you have received a whole other level of respect from me. I have never seen such an amazing combination of humor sexual deviance and technical competency all in one video. Amazing and well done!
The internet will never agree on what's best. Those bad experiences come from people that either used way too much 99%, sprayed it directly on the screen, or scrubbed way too hard. Yes, if you have a touchscreen, it CAN rub off the anti-glare / anti-fingerprint coating if you use too much too many times. I can say as a repair shop owner that uses 50-70% on thousands of laptops and monitors, including my own, I have never had any issue with coating coming off, streaks, smudges, melting, or any other issue that apparently happens to the rest of the internet.
Isopropanol might react with oleophobic coatings on touchscreens, but glass doesn't react with much at all. That's why chemists like it for their flasks and such too. Granted, laptop displays might be plastic... I remember taking one apart to replace the CCFL backlight with an LED strip, and finding various plastic sheets in there. They were Fresnel lenses and diffusion sheets, as well as a thicker solid sheet of plastic. It's all there to make the light not look like it's coming from the bottom up.
I think that's for touchscreens. They have an oleophobic coating (repels skin oils), that makes it harder for fingerprints to stick on the screen, and makes the screen smoother to swipe your finger onto. Alcohol dissolves that coating. I have an old phone that I had cleaned with alcohol multiple times, and its screen feels rough to the touch, it's even more of a fingerprint magnet, and it's more difficult to wipe off those fingerprints.
