I've been using PIAVPN for 5 years or more. I've not had any complaints! It is far better to pay their fee than to get your internet disconnected because of stuff.... Although if gaming companies can say you don't own the game, even though you bought it, then pirating isn't stealing!

You made the decision to help the customer out by replacing the thermal paste and clean out the fans despite them not asking you to do it. Coming from a technician...it's not the end of the world if one or two breaks....most of the time it's probably due to the plastic being old and/or crusty
Other times they snap because of "improper" technique or just shitty tools....in which as you go you'll learn how, how much, and where pressure is to be applied to open the case without much damage

5:05 I tried to fix my laptop by ordering a new frame since the old one was broken. I riveted the old keyboard to the new frame, but it ended up sinking. Worse, the entire motherboard got shorted-probably due to broken traces or microfractures, since the old frame was bent and bent the motherboard too, and putting it into the new, straight frame caused further damage. It was a cheap $350 HP laptop, and the replacement frame without the keyboard cost $30. After wasting 3 hours trying to fix it, I ended up salvaging the drives, throwing it out and buying an ASUS TUF for $800 instead.

    • @SalemTechsperts
      @SalemTechsperts  2 місяці тому +20

The internet will never agree on what's best. Those bad experiences come from people that either used way too much 99%, sprayed it directly on the screen, or scrubbed way too hard.
Yes, if you have a touchscreen, it CAN rub off the anti-glare / anti-fingerprint coating if you use too much too many times.
I can say as a repair shop owner that uses 50-70% on thousands of laptops and monitors, including my own, I have never had any issue with coating coming off, streaks, smudges, melting, or any other issue that apparently happens to the rest of the internet.

I think that's for touchscreens. They have an oleophobic coating (repels skin oils), that makes it harder for fingerprints to stick on the screen, and makes the screen smoother to swipe your finger onto. Alcohol dissolves that coating.
I have an old phone that I had cleaned with alcohol multiple times, and its screen feels rough to the touch, it's even more of a fingerprint magnet, and it's more difficult to wipe off those fingerprints.

If a laptop is a bit dirty, you fan use a very barely wet with water microfiber cloth, and it will do the trick

my way of cleaning devices and most importantly screens is to use some drinking water and windows cleaner. i do like a 60 to 40 mix. it works wonders, but takes longer to dry from isopropyl alcohol, but atleast i do make sure that i wouldn't damage paint of a coat on a screen

Unrelated to the video, but I caved in and bought one of those turbine cooling pads. Holy shit, the difference is like night and day. My laptop no longer hits high temps. Thanks for the recommendation.

Love your videos, I'm still terrified of opening up my own PC but because of your content I'm absolutely interested in learning about how to clean, maintain and update my machines.
You've said that running shops like yours is not really financially viable, is there anything we can do to support you guys?

Don't be scared to open your PC! Just be patient and watch plenty of videos. As for supporting me, honestly just watching the videos is enough. And of course becoming a member helps, but only if you have the financial means to do so!

you should use quick detailer for cars to clean the jizz, spray on a microfiber towel and then wipe the wet towel on the keyboards and everything, it cleans really well and is gentle af
it also leaves a nice shine on any case or keyboard or screen so it looks clean like new
i know it sounds weird just try it; rinseless wash also works well, i use optimum rinseless mixed with water, spray on the towel and it will shine any surface including car interior and keyboards and monitors everything

Also, if you're taking the motherboard out of a laptop... just replace the paste. It will probably need doing ESPECIALLY if it's a gaming laptop, and it's only about 4-8 more screws to gain access to the cooling system anyay.

the no boot when cloning SATA onto an NVMe drive is pretty common...with a pc, we just connect both drives and boot it before cloning, laptops are slightly more complicated though...

Thank you for reminding me I had to clean my keyboard. My space bar was starting to get a little oily (just the natural amount on my skin but it builds up) and some nearby keys too. Also my hands get sweaty when playing Celeste and stuff so I had to clean at some point :/

14:15 disk genius sometimes did that with the clone disk option. using the migrate os is always better since it never does that AND does clone the disk too.
