The places that use the shittest parts are usually in places with the highest traffic like malls or downtown. Their rent is too high so they end up becoming scumbags just to stay afloat, but yeah it's a rough industry. This was a good watch. GG
I just want to say. When I was a broke college student, computer repair shops are what kept my old laptop working. I am eternally grateful for technicians such as you who look out for struggling folk like us
I know where you are coming from. I started computer repair from home for family and friends. The unreasonable requests from them stopped me from getting a shop ( how much, I thought we were friends etc.) So now I repair for seniors and charity with no profit and they are happy. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Doing repair work for charities and the elderly is a really kind thing to do. From one "designated family repair guy" to another, keep up the good work, you absolute star.
As someone who did work in the industry I understand the everyday pain. and that's why I left for something else. I'm also glad that I found out your tiktok and youtube. Keep it up men
Thank you!! It's so sad seeing how many good people were eaten up and spit out by the industry. I'm glad you found something better for yourself, and I that you found me!
Yep, I used to work as technician, but the pay wasn't going up while the cost of living was, I was forced to look for new work. It's a shame, I had fun doing repairs, really satisfying when you get something that other shops deemed as "no fix" and you get it working in 30min and a couple of cents in parts.
Especially when it was “the stupidest problem that ever lived”… like a mobo battery preventing post… Or a dead hard drive preventing the screen from coming on…
After a while, that Subway bread yeast smell starts to get to a fella. I know, I used to work at one in my teens. Coming In to work hung over would almost make me puke some days. Edit: also it makes your clothes stink just the same.
Since you mentioned mental health, let me support you. Your videos make my day better. I'm just getting into computers for a second career, and I am so overwhelmed. The classes are so dry, but watching your videos gives me a glimpse into the hardware side of things, and honestly, I just need a fucking laugh sometimes. My day is better after I see one of your memes, even if I don't understand exactly what you are fixing yet. You make my day better. So thank you for the education, and the better day.
Thank you for that! That's exactly why I started making them in the first place. Repair videos are always so damn bland and boring. They needed some humor to lighten people up since this industry is so depressing. I'm glad I could help you out and appreciate you watching!
Good insight! The biggest issue I've found with computer repair shops at least in my area is that most of the owners have massive, overinflated egos, especially the ones that do phone and tablet repairs as well as normal PC stuff. Between trying to overcharge unsuspecting consumers and the overinflated egos it is making more people go to big box stores like Geek Squad or Microcenter from my experience. There is only a couple decent and down to earth shops left in my area and I live in a large city in the US so if its the trend here I imagine its similar in other places.
I'm so glad you mentioned this, and I'm going to bless you with a completely relevant part of the script I left out because I was crunching to make this video... "Because I may sarcastically say I'm TGTTEL But I'm nowhere near as technically skilled as some other people. But those other people probably can't sit down with 90 year old Barbara and walk her through resetting her AOL password. And that's what sets me apart. I attribute my success directly to my ability to communicate technical problems in terms that the average person can understand, Without making them feel belittled or dumb. Because it doesn't matter if you can assemble an Alienware blindfolded and recite every MacBook Pro model number from 1969, If you don't know how to talk to people, your business will be short lived. Because at the end of the day, your job is to help people. And if you don't want to help people, and are JUST in it for the money, Go fuck yourself. Because yes, you can make fast money by being a terrible tech and screwing people over, but those people will never come back, and you will forever be known as a piece of shit."
I personally do work in a phone repair shop that also does laptops and stuff. We are able to keep costs low and parts high quality due to the fact that we own the place where we work so we don't have to worry about rent.
@SalemTechsperts I agree. You have to have that balance. That is what sets you apart. I have met mechanics and others who know what they are doing and do a good job, but could not talk to a person in the slightest. I have also met others who could talk my ear off but could not turn a bolt. Both of them I despise going to. If you can only do one, but not the other then you need someone who can do the other part for you. If not, you'll not be successful as a business.
I'm glad your channel is doing so well - love your videos & would be super bummed out if you had to stop. Thanks for enduring the frustration!! (Also, the guilt I felt while sitting here on my overheating POS Alienware laptop I've been considering bringing to you. Lol.)
Hahah thank you so much! I truly appreciate the words of encouragement. I'll make sure to set the $20 aside for the therapy session I'll need after working on your Alienware 😂
Thank you for telling the truth on phone repair, he's right you guys, it's becoming hell. Even more than what it was. I am personally also looking for the door, I studied engineering, I don't need that shit.
Ex owner of a mostly phones repair shop here. At least you didn't show the worst part(which you can't legally) know it all tech illiterate customers. "you didn't replace the screen you just put it in rice I saw it on the internet" "what flex cable you just blew on it and it worked" On the bright side you get A LOT OF FUNNY stories.
i'm not phone repair guy, but sometimes i repair my own phone, and yes, the part price now is become outrageous, even for working on your own, it's just worth more if you save the money for that component repair to buy new phone instead
yep. the time has come that buying a second hand phone of the same model is cheaper than the cost to replace the part. My case - Amoled Screen of Samsung S8+. still got it lmao
@@jempolgila i have second hand pixel 3 and because of the battery swelling, the oled screen just broken and the oled screen price is more expensive than the price i buy that phone
Truly agree. I used to repair and (re)build phones myself too and the last job I did was a black + gold iPhone 6 built from parts in like 2018 other than a few iPhone part replacements (iPhone 4-6s) during the pandemic
Yeah a lot of people run tech repair businesses and other small scale stuff out of their homes. It does make them a bit harder to find but most of them have websites and google listings.
As someone who believes in right to repair stuff I absolutely love the work you do both in-shop and advocating for right to repair stuff. Thank you for all the entertainment and laughs you've given me and everyone else with your uploads and I look forward to seeing more stuff from you in the future ❤
It feels weird to see you talking seriously since I'm so used to the jokes in your videos but I really enjoyed this video, Hope you do well brother you deserve much more!
I've been in IT/computers for 20+ years and currently a Network Operations Center Lead. I remember when I was in college I thought about starting up a repair business on the side after getting my A+ thinking it would be easy money. I am so glad I didn't. IDK how TF you guys do it. I'm on enough depression and anxiety meds as it is from this job and I deal with ISPs/business support staff. If I had to deal with what you deal with on a daily basis there's a chance I would be in a mental hospital somewhere locked up in the basement by now. Kudos to you sir and thank you for all the videos.
I do this job in a company. all parts ready in the wearhouse. no stress, no worry. end of my 4 working days, other ppl come in for 4 days to finish of your jobs or start new jobs. no need to talk to cusotmers, other staff for that. I love my job. my company spent millions buying a phone repair company, that part has massively downsized, due to the cost and demand
That's awesome, I'm glad you get to do what you love. For me, even though I love repairing things, I love meeting people even more. Hearing their stories, interacting with them, and getting to know them and their device is a huge reason why I stuck it out for so long. I've made some great friends here.
@@NutritiousDoggo idk about starting straight in I started as apprentice, with Grade C in English and maths, I was working towards electrical engineer level 3
Nice. Repair is nice, service is a pain 😅 ... The best days are when you get to fix things and get paid, not the days where customers want to ramble or argue for an hour 😂
It's honestly an industry I've wanted to get into for many years, but after watching the video and a good amount of time on pc building simulator. I can't doubt that it's hard and I would probably prefer working at someone elses repair shop so I don't have to deal with a lot of hassle, but you are doing great man! Discovered you months ago and I've just been keeping up since, I even go back and rewatch some videos because the humour is unique and honestly hilarious. Keep up the amazing work man!
I had a similar type of job once: enjoyed fixing devices, but absolutely despised dealing with customers. I find your content really amusing, keep up the good work!
Man this videos was really wholesome, here in Brazil shit are very expensive so we truly rely on on technicians like you to fix stuff, even more when it comes to laptops. I rl appreciate that you're improving your work load and that internet gave you an opportunity to thrive in the way you thought was the righ one, best of luck friend!
and we thank you for all the content and nice moments you gave us ❤; your videos/shorts make my day better, and i doubt im the only one who thinks that
When you went inside the Subway I thought it was for a bit, didnt expect your shop to actually be their storage space. Congrats on 1 million subscribers keep it up!
I have a lot of respect for you. This is the type of work I've been trying to do but I feel like I should be going the UA-cam route at this point to fill in the financial gap. I have a lot of experience so I wanna share useful advice. I hope the PC repair industry doesn't suffer the same fate as the phone repair industry.
Love the shop tour! So cool to see what youve done with the space. I remember when your half of the subway was the ice cream bar lol. It's really great to see how much your business has grown. Keep up the great work!!
It's like a trip down memory lane. 20 years ago when most of us gave up shops, it looked much the same. You're a trooper, glad you could give up phones. House calls were good money after shops for a while, but that's been like 10 years ago. These days, custom PC builds and repairs from home is where it's at. No flips, all new, no overhead is ideal.
Happy to contribute to you being able to make more memes and deal with fewer headaches, even just a little! Having spent four hours straight working on a client’s HP all-in-one just to upgrade the SSD, I have endless respect for you.
Loved the serious talk about your business. I'm a big fan of your humor and work ethic, and have 28+ years in the IT field. I really appreciate the fairhanded way you treat your customers. I've always been like minded in that regard and just hate when an IT firm gouges a private citizen or small business for extremely easy and inexpensive work, just taking advantage of their lack of knowledge.
Thank you for all of your videos, mister The Greatest Technician That's Ever Lived! You've inspired me to start my tiny fixing business which usually consists of diagnosing and fixing pretty much every broken or weird-acting electrical devices in my family, as well as that from my relatives with a small price. Now I am confident to deal with all those machines and stuffs...except the damn AC...
As a small town computer repair business, your videos are invaluable. From why you stopped your phone repair business to your troubleshooting. You have been a massive help. Thank you from Bishop, CA.
I guess the gooch collector also evolve too, also I didnt expect that your shop's entrance is actually inside the subway I guess that's great for when your customer is just eating his/her favorite sub and suddenly he/she accidentally spill sauce on his/her laptop, repairing their laptop is just one step away...
Before, I didn't even have a wall. I just had a 3 foot high partition separating Subway from me. The idea was to have customers grab some food while I fixed their phone, and they could even watch me do it. It worked out wonderfully for a few years until it started becoming an issue with being able to get work done while being easily accessible for people to start convo's etc. So we built the wall and it's been crazy since.
Who cares mate, it’s casual speak and not every piece of text has to be ‘gender neutral’ to satisfy everybody. Let the guy do his thing without criticism.
I just subbed to your channel because of Carey who mentioned your channel. You have many positive traits which I like . HUMOR is what everyone needs ,Real life experiences with showing your work, but the major thing is your HONESTLY. Thank you.
This video getting serious pretty quickly... What a story man, thanks for making videos you made and keep it up! I wish you the best for everything you do
The office brings a comfy and sentimental feeling to my mom, aunts and uncles used to work and own a repair shop that also doubled as a place to get your passport and IC photos. Its a type of jank that is just so nostalgic, good times those were
This is so awesome! Thanks for giving us the X-ray vision tour of your shop. I totally feel your pain with the replacement parts. A customer needed six new HP batteries, and I ended up buying a truckload of them because so many crapped out. Some batteries were dead on arrival, and others were like those items you buy after a few too many drinks - they look good at first, but then they just can't handle the long haul. Your videos are seriously inspiring, and I've learned a ton from them. I had no clue you could stick an extra hard drive in the DVD/CD Rom slot of a laptop, and then you just drop that bombshell like it's no big deal. Thanks for sharing all the tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes action. Looking forward to the day we can join forces and conquer the tech world together!
Thanks for the video, time to time I wonder how's stuff happening behind the cameras but now I get to gist of it. Good luck at work for both of you and thanks again for the other videos you made.
Just a french tech-repair guy here, who wanted to let you know that you make my days brighter dude, in terms of raccoon-fingered technics AND in terms of laughs. TY for that ! Keep going I wish you the best
For the phone repairs you can always get a blacklisted phone that works and just swap the board from the one with a broken screen. .. phone repair guru did that with a z-flip repair as it was like half the cost of just a screen to just buy a blacklisted one n swap the board into that one
I know, I used to do this frequently with Samsung phones, especially their budget models where the screen cost more than the entire phone did on eBay. The problem is, you're introducing too many variables and now are going to have to be responsible for them. What if the blacklisted one has a bad small component attached to the frame that takes like 3 hours to remove? It's just so much bullshit for such little money.
I'm just going to say this, I am 14 years old, and you have taught me things that I would almost certainly never have learned if I had not watched your video, all the while keeping me entertained. Thank you for all your hard work!
as a fellow pc builder and repair technician who runs a private pc business in Seattle, i can say with certainty, have your workshop at your home, a separate office is just not worth it in this industry, even though Seattle has a lot of gamers and people who use their pc, things get rough unless you have a partnership with a separate entity, i work with the local school district to supply and repair their pcs, to which they have a lot of, and then for non-partnered jobs there is always the risk of something frying itself after sending it to the client, I've been lucky enough to never have something die after being sent to the client, but recently my brand new RTX 4080 fried itself on my personal pc so now i have to use my old 1050ti until i can get a new RTX, for anyone who does not have another stable income, i don't recommend this industry because i only set up shop in Seattle because there are no other widely available and or reliable pc shops in the Seattle area. If you are going to start a pc business, don't, "with a small pc business in a dying market with larger entities, there will always be others to compete with you" -the third greatest technician that's ever lived (me)
You're absolutely spot-on to "have your workshop at your home". Unfortunately, the average home price here is nearly 1 million dollars, so I have no home to have a workshop in, and my apartment is too small to do any work. I will never realistically be able to own a home in this area. The goal is to just save up enough money to gtfo of here, which is incredibly sad, as I love this area, but it's simply not meant for small businesses.
I was in IT since the 70s, I retired in 2012. Users are the worst part of the job. I don't even like working on my own equipment anymore, but I have to de-gooch my tower, it's pretty bad. And yeah, often it's cheaper to buy something new than fix it because labor costs ain't cheap.
Congrats on retirement! It's funny how much people lost their shit when I showed them my PC that has no side panel, is bursting with a rats nest of wires, and has been mangled by a hammer so I could fit in my 4090. And none of them could understand why I have no passion or care to work on my own PC after dealing with bs 60 hours a week
Tech Repair guy here. I agree with the phone repair part of the business just being rough. People want to pay aftermarket prices for premium parts. Even with service pack screens, there's no guarantee that the screen won't shit itself within the next two weeks or so. Nothing is made to last anymore. Why spend the time and resources to make something last when you can make more money by forcing people to buy new stuff? Apple and Samsung have made it next to impossible to warrant replacing parts, especially when people can get insurance on devices and get scammed that way. It's a hopeless avenue for repairs.
whenever me and my bro fix random stuff for our friends and family, we do the pose and say im the GREATEST TECHNICIAN THATS EVER LIVED! thanks for this video man! more power to you!
When I first saw you videos a long time back I thought it would be so cool to fix computers and stuff when I get older because I love working on my own and just being around them but with how companies are making their products now I understand why it’s so hard to do this because most products are so anti repair, disposable, and just a hunk of garbage. You have my continued support to help keep this alive.
I honestly don't miss doing this kind of job, people are filthy. Ended up in one of those corporate jobs over 10 years ago. I can imagine things have only gotten worse since.
I loved the honesty you shared about the industry and I feel you about the pile up that happens and the stress that comes with it. It’s a tough part of the job but i always think computer repair isn’t the industry to enter to make a ton of money but when you can really help someone out either through a video or just by getting their computer back up and running it’s probably the best feeling out there and makes it all worth it.
I’m really liking these in-depth and down to earth videos of yours. I’ve wanted to join the repair industry for a while now, but I know how rough it can be. Thanks for showing what it’s like. I live in California, and the right to repair bills are now enacted (thanks Rossman!), as far as I know. Only time can tell how effective they are, and how companies respond to them. I hope they end up working, so I can work in this field. Like you said, the cost of living increasing and the insane rent in a lot of places make it extremely hard. I’ve even seen a repair shop in my town that manages everything at their house. Only time can tell how the industry changes, with more and more non-repair friendly devices becoming the norm. Thank you, the greatest technician that’s ever lived, for being open, informative, and entertaining. (May the swamp gooch infiltrate the atmosphere and spare our lungs for another year🫡)
Man, mad respect for what you do. I wish there were stores like yours in my country. Every single one I know is ran by a guy trying to stick ya. Thank you for your passionate work and for sharing it with us.
for the screen, i let customers buy it for me, i give them reliable several links where i buy them, i also disclose that sometime they might get lucky and get the defective ones. if the screen is defective i let them handle the RMA and those stuff, i just put it again for free for the 2nd time after they RMA their screen. i also record the video so they can RMA stuff quickly as possible.
"i just put it again for free for the 2nd time" - this is the problem, not the RMA system (which is super easy with my supplier). You're dropping everything to do a job 2, 3, even 4 times to make a slim profit. It's not sustainable.
@@SalemTechsperts for you it doesn't make sense since you've got too many orders (local and mail) + youtube. and your place cost of living. for me its the RMA since, it will take long 2 to 3 weeks before replacement and i'm placed not into a main city. the reason i pass it to customers don't want to deal with that + them complaining why it takes long, that kept interrupting me. screen replacement is 15 to 30 min job, if i know its easier to transfer components than screen, i let them order with frame already attached to the new screen and i just transfer components. most of the time, leaving it curing the glue. i do ask for the screen if the touch is still working and only have green lines, especially if its samsung S series or apple screen. if they give it to me, free money for me, i just refurbish and sell it to main city or keep it for a while. if they wants to keep it, its fine. if i'm too busy i do reject job orders and refer them to somewhere, else i'll tell them to wait patiently. the one that actually keeps me is board repair problems that i haven't encountered or new to me with no known solution online in chinese and local forums. specially laptops and GPUs. also political campaigns printouts during campaign season. zombie mode in 2 to 3 months.
Your shop is surprisingly very humble. I am guessing you made those shelves and benches yourself. Incredible stuff, man, would love to see you one day get to where you deserve to be (in our mom's room). Love from your viewer that is Turkish descent born in Kyrgyzstan that lives in New Zealand❤.
You're always my inspiration when it comes to tech repairs and satirical humor. I can tell working an honest job while keeping online peeps entertained is a lot of work, and I'm happy that you're still doing your job in an honest and trustworthy fashion. As much as I dream of becoming a pilot in the future, you've also inspired me to take on small PC repairs and upgrades with both my desktop PC and my laptop so I can learn more about computers. Keep up the good work, Andy and Lupe.
Andy i live in Italy i love your video and YOU ARE THE GRETEAST TECHNICIAN TATS EVER LIVED for true and remenber there is a fan thats watch your video from italy im sorry for my englisc😅
I owned a computer repair shop here in Nashville, Arkansas for over 11 years. It became like TV repair shop. I finally just retired last year. I feel your pain Brother and can relate to what you’re doing. I do enjoy your videos, I find them so relatable and funny.
There are tons of computer repair shop out there in UA-cam. I only watched yours because I like your sense of humor! Keep the videos rolling! Love from Japan!
Your videos crack me up man 😂. You were meant for this, keep up the awesome work. And ya you were talking facts at the end about phone repair. If you only fix phone screen/charging port/batteries, you're not gonna make good money. The screen repair gold rush has ended haha
Just subscribed because Andy seems to be like a really good person and quite professional. This type of business is tough nowadays and you either scam the customer all the time or like Andy said has to close the shop sooner or later unless some additional income comes from it. Glad you started the channel and you never forget your roots because many UA-camrs which I will not name seem to forget and all they want is to flood the channel with videos to collect money from ads. Best of luck Andy! By the way this all started with other electrodomestics I remember 10 years or so interfacing with an electronics repair shop and already then he was complaining about this situation, parts difficult to get, expensive which adding labor costs most customers just decide to buy new. But in between he spent time searching for components and diagnosis. This is now the new normal in everything, waist and more waist. But they all like to advertise how green they are. When companies start to give 50% of an item cost after 3 years to take your old device in I will start believing in all their social caring and environmental concerns bullshit.
bro i feel you man i just had a laptop that i was supposed to repair die and later found out that the mobo had burned from a burned spot i the case and i also might have some faults in my writing cause of my keyboard being dead and fails to regiter a few keys
I feel this, I worked as a field repair tech in NYC for the DOE just recently before eventually moving back to MA. Repairing everything from lenovos, acers, to apple devices and Lexmark printers. While some days were plenty easy because I had to repair cheap school Chromebooks but some days the repair just made no sense (looking at you Thinkpad L14 Gen 3). Now I'm just helping other techs remotely for the summer until I figure something out over here. Love your videos so much man, especially as fellow technician.
Your videos are cool and kill boredom. I worked many years ago repairing computers and it was one case worse than the other. Unfortunately, here in Brazil, in addition to mediocre workmanship, the few good professionals charge exorbitant prices, making customers feel obliged to buy a new product, instead of trying a repair. Last week this almost happened to me because my Logitech keyboard (which is great, by the way) got rust and mold and I almost had to buy a new one. With the help of a friend, I solved the problem. Once again, keep up the good work! Greetings from Brazil!
Man seeing this really opened my eyes i though it would be more rainbow and sunshine for you, working myself in a repair shop i can feel that pain too. I would often get brought either 2 pieces of a laptop or a 1:5000 scale of the sahara desert inside a business/home computer that fails to turn on and often have it fixed in a day. And when it comes to sales of refurbished computer/laptops warranties its a 50/50 the customer will not plug it to a fire hazard that will break the system (at least we can suck up that mistake and grant them a new refurbished if they understand the issue isnt on our end)
I dont run a repair shop but I do have something similar to yours, and I also sell computers. just wanted to say that EVERYTHING YOU SAY I RELATE!!!!. You also inspire me to keep pushing, even though my mental health is slowly going down every time I get a call. But hey better than being broke I guess. teehee
Recently I was curious to see if anyone had done videos on tutorials or repairs on Toshiba Qosmio laptops - which is how I saw my first video of yours. A few years back my 2013 Toshiba Qosmio almost had it (due to a bad BIOS flash caused by a botched Windows Update and horribly-timed blackout combo... yay), and I sent it for repairs at a local repairshop (here, in Quito Ecuador where I know getting pc components is very tricky and expensive). He did the job so well that my laptop not only lived through that, but it's been working flawlessly for two years and counting (he estimated 1 year). At the time, he told me a bit about the repair process. But after looking at your videos I now know for sure that it must've been quite the ordeal getting it fixed so fast and charging so little too. Now have massive respect for you and anyone who works in this industry (I'll pay him a visit soon to get my laptop some needed maintenance... and to apologize 😅). Congratulations on 1M subscribers - keep at it!
Kind of late, but commenting and watching all your long form stuff for the algorithm and to show support since I love watching you guys! Thanks for a bit of the glimpse!
That room actually looks 100% normal to me. Why? Because this is what the technician's room looks like at the place where I interned when I was still in vocational senior high school. Yup, I once interned at a computer repair shop which was one of the internship programs from school.

Man, such humble establishment that has been saving us from corpo’s greed. Good job brotha! God bless!
Thanks for the long form, appreciate all the hard work you do. Your vids are always welcomed. Congrats on reaching 1 mill.
"Because I may sarcastically say I'm
TGTTEL
But I'm nowhere near as technically skilled as some other people.
But those other people probably can't sit down with 90 year old Barbara and walk her through resetting her AOL password.
And that's what sets me apart.
I attribute my success directly to my ability to communicate technical problems in terms that the average person can understand,
Without making them feel belittled or dumb.
Because it doesn't matter if you can assemble an Alienware blindfolded and recite every MacBook Pro model number from 1969,
If you don't know how to talk to people, your business will be short lived.
Because at the end of the day, your job is to help people.
And if you don't want to help people, and are JUST in it for the money,
Go fuck yourself.
Small businesses with retail spaces exist solely for property investment firms to exploit until they go out of business. Rinse and repeat.
Lol.)

i'm not phone repair guy, but sometimes i repair my own phone, and yes, the part price now is become outrageous, even for working on your own, it's just worth more if you save the money for that component repair to buy new phone instead
yep. the time has come that buying a second hand phone of the same model is cheaper than the cost to replace the part. My case - Amoled Screen of Samsung S8+. still got it lmao
@@jempolgila i have second hand pixel 3 and because of the battery swelling, the oled screen just broken and the oled screen price is more expensive than the price i buy that phone
trully agree with this comment. the era that buying 2nd handed phome more cheeper than repair it if the problem not that bad.
Truly agree. I used to repair and (re)build phones myself too and the last job I did was a black + gold iPhone 6 built from parts in like 2018 other than a few iPhone part replacements (iPhone 4-6s) during the pandemic
What I learned from this is not to rent a place but to start very small.
Also to be up front with parts price and labor cost.
Yeah a lot of people run tech repair businesses and other small scale stuff out of their homes. It does make them a bit harder to find but most of them have websites and google listings.

Before, I didn't even have a wall. I just had a 3 foot high partition separating Subway from me. The idea was to have customers grab some food while I fixed their phone, and they could even watch me do it. This is so awesome! Thanks for giving us the X-ray vision tour of your shop. I totally feel your pain with the replacement parts. A customer needed six new HP batteries, and I ended up buying a truckload of them because so many crapped out.
@SalemTechsperts I agree with you, but having a shop at home means no walk-ins since that's weird at home, so it has its ups and downs
My guy. That Vanagon brings back memories. My pops always had one and i loved those
They're great until they're not (they break)

4:45 not the gooch collector lore 😭
I’m really liking these in-depth and down to earth videos of yours. I’ve wanted to join the repair industry for a while now, but I know how rough it can be. Thanks for showing what it’s like.
I live in California, and the right to repair bills are now enacted (thanks Rossman!), as far as I know. Only time can tell how effective they are, and how companies respond to them. I hope they end up working, so I can work in this field.
Like you said, the cost of living increasing and the insane rent in a lot of places make it extremely hard. I’ve even seen a repair shop in my town that manages everything at their house.

for the screen, i let customers buy it for me, i give them reliable several links where i buy them, i also disclose that sometime they might get lucky and get the defective ones.
if the screen is defective i let them handle the RMA and those stuff, i just put it again for free for the 2nd time after they RMA their screen.
i also record the video so they can RMA stuff quickly as possible.
