Veurne Station Level Crossing

Monday May 20 2024 at 15.56. Probably the 13.51 Antwerpen-Centraal to De Panne (16.08) train. The crossing activated after I'd driven over it and it seemed unwise to attempt a quick U turn when driving on the right in a right hand drive vehicle. Fortunately with a 250x zoom lens, decent pictures are still possible from that far away. The view along the line shows a train in Veurne station. The sign with a poppy on it before the crossing shows this was the capital of the small corner of Belgium the Germans didn't capture in WW1. 70 British soldiers are buried here from WW2, 5 of them teenagers: Walter Bowles, John Knight, Mark Rothberg, Edward Sadler and Leonard Dowse.
