    Thank you Amy - my 10 years girl is using the power pose to cope with anxiety. She and I will power pose in the bathroom for a few moments when she feels overwhelmed. Thank you!

      Its really easy to be a highly attractive person and attribute your claims of success in life after doing silly poses to impressing people. You should research "beautiful is good effect"

    But besides power, there's also peace. Old age is generally chosen to represent maturity and wisdom, where they often slouch. Also indicates a sense of being laid-back. Not negating this power pose, I'm just considering there are other positive emotional states unrelated to power, different set of virtues.

    Ok, body language shows someone's level of power. So? What does it have to do with the video title?

    The benefits of power-posing and this entire line of research have been debunked. Her co-author on the paper came out and admitted (after replication attempts failed) that the study was poorly designed with numerous artifacts and that they p-hacked (cheated to find statistical significance). There are numerous articles from reputable sources that discuss why power poses don't work and how the entire basis of her talk is not backed up by data at all. The problem with this is that she's encouraging people to conduct a behavior to get a result that simply doesn't work (similar to making sacrifices to the gods for rain), thus wasting their time and energy that could actually be spent on something that might actually help.

    I'm curious is it because man has dominated the control forward Ness and possibly because of this women don't feel equal when they should and man should support that I believe time is the healing on top of improving for instance look where we was and look where we are improvements. Of course there are things that don't move forward like depression inside of a human if not properly diagnosed with lessons how to improve depression from studies which studies improve as time goes on. Like if you break your leg and don't get proper medical attention the person can barely walk but in due time even without proper medical attention it looks like they have made improvements which they have the Improvement of the Mind accepting the injury and learning how to simplify better movements forward in time. like if you break your leg and don't get proper medical attention we as people look at 1 from a professional View you won't get better but in actuality from the first moment of the broken leg we feel innocence lifeless that we can't go on but in time we've made huge improvements moving forward even without proper medical attention. we are thoughts and look at from the professional view from humans. So with thoughts all things move forward without thoughts we stand still. As positive feelings or thoughts or negative feelings or thoughts so these are the differences to accept or not to accept. I could go on and on which comes from thoughts which are movement forward. These are simply my thoughts watching this video begin to make me think or thoughts of how to move forward.

    She is wrong on so many points I don't know where to begin. She first says it is a wasted effort, to raise one's arms after a victory. In fact nothing is wasted. it is not a gesture of power . The gesture of raising one's arms in victory is one of jubilations and embracing the crowd, absorbing the adulations and saying join with me in my celebration.

    • @wetlazer
      @wetlazer 7 років тому +11

      She didn't say that. Did you actually watch the video? I think not.

    • @veedub447
      @veedub447 7 років тому

      I did, the entire video, but did you? at 5:48 she says raising one's arms in victory is a waste of resources and she says it is a gesture of power and pride . Maybe you missed that part

    • @wetlazer
      @wetlazer 7 років тому +5

      She asked WHY - at the end of a race, or any other kind of event, - AFTER winning, and expending resources would a person expend more resources by making a victory gesture or pose in a power pose? She was postulating a question. In terms of energy expenditure for some it may seem illogical, or inefficient to burn all of your energy winning a race and then expend more energy in a display of pride and joy celebrating your achievement. After submitting that question she explained the celebrating by moving your body in that way actually has a number of positive effects. I think you are choosing to misunderstand what she said.

    • @veedub447
      @veedub447 7 років тому +1

      I just disagree with her assumption that this gesture is rooted in power and pride . I also disagree with her assumption that girls in middle school feel contracted and fragile, or that they feel it any more than boys do, whereas as boys are failing and falling behind girls in Middle and in high school in any way you want to measure it. And her story of Misty Copeland being told she was too masculine and should quit dancing is completely fabricated.

    • @wetlazer
      @wetlazer 7 років тому +1

      Okay, I think I agree with everything you said. Although I don't see anything wrong with the idea that standing, moving, breathing in a 'victory' or celebratory posture would not be connected with feelings of power and pride. I interpreted her meaning in the context of a person feeling powerful and accomplished and capable and pride in terms of feeling proud of succeeding, and I am guessing that you might be seeing it in a racial context. I don't think she meant black power and black pride or white power and white pride. I am rather certain she meant owning your personal power and experiencing your personal pride. Vastly different context.

      Elsewhere, Cuddy has noted experiment results showing the type of posture someone holds for even a short time affects the levels of testosterone and cortisone in the bloodstream. That's not hoo-hah.
