    I love Marttiini knives. They are way underrated and overlooked here in America. They are much more classy than Mora

      I also love'em. Here in Finland, at least back in thd day, Marttiinis were used as Moras are used nowadays. Fnnish Moras.
      The again Moras were never used an outdoors, hiking knives etc. Only for construction work, knives to beat up during renovations etc.
      Thx for watching my friend have a great day!

    That's a perfect example of a puukko , that size is just right.
    I love well designed puukko, especially the sheaths . Most Americans have no clue what a puukko is nor how the sheath functions.
    When I finally made a decent sheath and felt it actually pull the knife in, naturally, it was something very special.
    They are functional yet beautiful. It's really a cool mix of everyday tools and artwork.
    I have to agree with regret ...
    Unfortunately, I've had a few knives some I built that I gave away, which were special to me. Also, those I bought and for some reason let go of and really wish I hadn't.
    I'm much more careful now with the special ones 😉

      ”They are functional yet beautiful. It's really a cool mix of everyday tools and artwork.” Well put, my thoughts excactly. They are at best like that.
      This is a nicely balanced, beautiful looking work knife, that is not breaking the bank, Whats not to love. Love the blade geometry, fantastic with feathers and carving.

    Marttiini did a really attractive handle on the knife and the patterned carbon blade is a classic too. I think the Lynx shaped handle may be the way to go...seems like the knob on the end would make it easier to pull out of the sheath when using mitts or gloves. I have some knife parts coming in the mail, so the plan is to do a run of Lynx style handles and compare them to Tommi and end cap style handles like on a Leuku. Also got a Laurin edge hardened blade in the shipment so it will be interesting to compare to normal carbon blades.
    Not sure about wolves - I was always taught that they were harmless to humans but some stories told by co-workers in the far north changed my mind about them. I guess they get pretty bold if they're in a pack and hungry.
    I'd like to learn how to sweep a cork out of a bottle - seems like a vital knife skill.🤓
    Thanks for posting; have a good weekend.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  10 місяців тому

      Yeah the Wolf are nothing to mess around. In these neck of the woods happened the most gruesome Wolf attack in European History. They slaughtered at lest 28 children in mid 1800 hundreds. Nearest kill was about 10 km from where I live. These woods have always had a lot of wolves.
      Your knife plans sounds awesome!.
      I always liked the Lynx handle, very comfortable. Though I prefere the Knob at the end not to be too pronounced, like here.

    My Father once owned a Marttiini Rapala that he gifted to a friend of mine. It was probably the sharpest factory edge I have ever encountered. They do put quite a bit of care into their knives for being basically budget. I was curious on how their puukkos performed. Thank you for showing us how amazing it feathers!
    I have been in the market for a while (watching many videos reviewing them) Chopper/Machete type tools for the woods and came across the Condor Amalgam (Joe Flowers Design). Excited for it's arrival. I am sure it would deal with those wolves with ease 😂
    Do you use/like using choppers or do you generally stick with an Axe and smaller/medium knives?
    Always love your content. Be safe out there!

      Thank You! I think you cant go wrong with both of the knives to be honest. Eräpuu knives are one of the top QPR puukko out there. And Marttiini Lynx is part of Finnish Puukko history. One of the most sold puukkos in Finnish history. (dont mean to advertise own videos, but I did video of the Lynx, so maybe you'd be interested of that.) Thanx for watching, have a great weekend!🌲🐺🌲

    Someone mentioned Marttiini is no longer making their knives in Finland and producing them abroad now? Is that true? If so, where are they made? Just curious, the Marttiini Brand has such a rich history and a National Symbol of Finland, it breaks my heart to know such a National treasure is no longer producing them there. 😱😪

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  10 місяців тому

      I checked it. They make the puukkos still in Finland (In Vääksy village. I drove past the factory about month ago, when I was visiting middle Finnish lakeland).
      They moved some the production to Estonia. Would like that they would only in Finland, but I guess Estonia (our brother nation) is not the worse.
