    Was that you playing the piano in the beginning? Really nice music and photos. So the rumours of them moving south are true, oh well.
    Was going to watch this video in two parts as it is late and quite a long one, couldn't bring myself to press pause😂.
    Awesome video Ilari. Oh my Martiinni Suuslehti is in the kuerhenen sheath. Got it very cheap because it doesn't have the right sheath. That Kotka sheath is beautiful.

      Glad you liked the video! Yeah, its me playing the piano, and recorded it with a potato, lol😂.
      Its this wierd trend in Finland of bringing all the companies to south, lol.
      The syyslehti is very nice looking puukko, have to say. They really should bring it back, and replace some wierd ones they have there currently..
      It ended being quite a long video, thanx for watching it nevertheless Tim! Cheers!

    Always thank you for the content. Your Bias is warranted brother!!! Lol
    You are a Finnish native where Puukkos being your national knife. I trust your opinion on a puukko knife than most others (especially with your love for the LTWK Large Northern hunter; which is my favorite knife design next to their JX2 Jessmuk).
    Looking forward to your next video! Be safe out there,

    I was going to buy a Marttiini as a way to feel connected with my Finnish ancestry, but couldn't after learning they are now made in Estonia. Purchased an Erapu instead and am very happy with it.

    I most like the variation of the Marttiini models. You get a puukko in nearly 20 different ways...different sheath, blade, handle, Material, more modern or traditional.
    Many nordic brands have different sizes, stainless or carbon steel but they almost look the same.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  3 місяці тому

      Good point! Actually didnt think about that angle. Marttiini does indeed have a lot of models and variation. Some models come and go, some stay. Is Marttiini the Bark River of Puukkos?😅

    I picked up two Marttiinis when I was in Finland. They were on my list. I have the Karhu one (go figure!).
    Also, I enjoyed the music and pics at the beginning. Was that you? Beautiful music. I love Finnish music. I listened to some one evening while I was visiting Finland, and the mood was special because I was actually there in Finland, where the music came from. Lovely stuff. 👍🏻🇫🇮🇨🇦

    Lovely played piano introduction to go along with song birds of your area of Finland.
    I have used the fillet knives of Marttiini most of my life, there are currently three in the kitchen knife drawer that get regular use in food preparation in our home. They were imported to North America but the same company that brought the Rapala lures across the Atlantic Ocean. They were always a good value. I fillet many hundreds (maybe thousands) of fish with those knives.
    Thank you for the heart felt review of one of your first loves in life. I enjoyed this video very much.
    I particularly like, what I think of as a birds head on Puukko handles, it makes it easy to pull the Puukko from the sheath with cold, wet, bloody or slimy hands as does the Sammi style of handle.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  3 місяці тому +1

      I also have still one fillet from them. Over 30 yrs old. I think they were the most sold knives of Marttiini in general (though Ilves was the most sold puukko). They sold them a lot of them in the states I think.
      Funny thing, my parents lived very near the Rapala headquarters in Vääksy village by the lake Päijänne. Visited often the museum. Going there this summer also for a fishing trip.
      Thanx for watching, and sharing your experiences with Marttiini.
      Have a great day! 🌲🔪🌲

    Moi, video oli asiaa, itse olen huomannut että Rapalan siirryttyä omistajaksi laadunvalvonta on kärsinyt, nykyään ostan Ahti tai Woodsknife puukkoja. Kotona on sen verran paljon puukkoja että pystyn vertaamaan eri valmistajien laatua. kiitos videosta.

    • @OldForestBushcraft

      Kiitos kommentista! Joo itselle uudemmat Marttiinit vieraampia (tuo Kierinki ensimmäinen Marttiini melkein 20 vuoteen) niin mielenkiintoista kuulla ihmisten kokemuksia. Harvoin fuusiot, tuotantojen siirtelyt laatua parantaa. Woodsknife ja Ahti veitsisiin ollut tosi tyytyväinen. Hinta laatu kohillaan.
      Hyvät päivänjatkot!👍

    Thanks for this fascinating history of Marttiini knives. I bought my first "Lynx" model in 1966, when I was a scout. I had it until not so long ago, when my Dad, who was getting confused towards the end of his life, decided to donate all my kit to the "Cat's Protection" charity shop. Luckily, I have several other, more up to date models which he did not give away.
