Interesting design mixture of Finnic, Sámi, Scandinavian, Central European, and fantasy elements. Overall, very good looking and bushcraft ready puukko-style knife, with a nice balance between shape and decoration.
Very nice work! The only thing I didn't like was the modern rivet you used to connect the metal band, that thing deserved a handmade rivet. But other than that, it's great. Makes me want to try etching.
Entant que Suisse j'imagine que vous savez parler français. Je tenais à vous dire que votre travail est magnifique. Franchement, vos couteaux sont superbes et dans ce paysage enneigé, c'est encore plus beau 😊
Sir, I fell in love with Puukko knives from watching your videos! I’m of Scottish decent, but the Scandinavian knife is gorgeous. I will be making several in the next few months.
Not everybody has a forge ,or a place to put one. .I'm one of them, (wish I did though) I enjoyed the video, got a few ideas, I also use blank blades and create handles, I'm looking into these epoxy ones, some look way cool, nuf said.. Thank You for sharing your skills.
I want to compliment your work and man your editing, angles and lighting are equally as fantastic. Awesome video. I usually fast forward so much and yours i simply enjoyed from beginning to end. Well done
I was thinking about doing some carvings ont he antler part in the middle but there was to much marrow, sadly. but it would have completed the knife, indeed. Thanks ;-)
Just seen your video on the petroglyph knife Lovely work, when you rivet try to use a slightly bigger ID on the rivet when flange out drill through coming out the head then debur put D ring in, should be more secure Last Longer.
A beautiful piece of work. That sheath with the brass band very nice but wouldn’t you be concerned using that material and have it break or crack as it looked to be quite thick with all the bending to shape it.
I have been making knives since the 60's and that is really great work! My biggest disk sander is 8" (203mm) how do you like the large sander? would it be worth it for me to get one over the one I have now? I don't mind paying for good tools. Again that is some really nice work. I am experimenting making a sheath with wood and rawhide I hope it turns out as good as I have in mind.
Thanks for the comment ! It's a good question. Well, I hestiated a while on choosing a new grinding machine. You have these combined machines with small sanding disc and the belt but having already one sanding machine with the belts there was no point of getting a new one for me. Also, in my opinion, it's really an advantage to have a bigger sanding disc machine. Mine is 305mm which is roughly 12" and I feel like the disc last longer and even if the paper gets a bit blunt with times you can still remove a fair amount of matter (wood). Also I like to use the more central part of the disk to sand metal parts and the outside of the disc for the wood. On the other hand the belt sanding machine is really helpful for the round concave shapes so it's best to have both of them. I hope it was helpful ;-) Good luck with your work
Thank you. It's Ferric Chloride an acid usually used to reveal the pattern of damascus steel. I think this technic is called "edinburgh etch" you can find some good tutorial on UA-cam
I paused and zoomed in. It was Ferric Chloride. Be sure to use a separate batch for etching copper or brass than for steel as the don’t “play” nicely together.
I’ve never thought to use wood nearest to the blade(handle). I’ve always assumed it had to be metal of some kind. You never have any issues with damage when using the knife? Very interesting.
Yeah you can use wood without problems ;-). You often see some old Finnish knives (more than a hundred years old) with a full birch handle and they hold on pretty good. But I assume not every wood is suitable, in this case oak is perfect because it very durable.
Very nice work! But, it is a knife, a tool...and your video although well produced was like reading a book only to find out the last chapter was missing. You might think of incorporating some carving tasks at the end of you videos. It is a beautiful blade, but in the end a blade is a tool and it would be appropriated to demonstrate how your tool functions. Thank you.
Hi, I don't have a shop nor do I sell outside of my acquaintances circle, yet. It's in project to develop a website or a place to sell them, but there's nothing concrete yet Thanks for the support !
"Everything I've done here is as a hobby and for the sake of learning and sharing the process with others. There's no pretention whatsoever and I'm not a knife maker" Doesn't mean we still might want to buy it from you LOL
hey, thanks for the comment. I don't live off of youtube so i have no incentive to put adds. I think it's just by default, but ill correct that soon. My point is to share my videos and the process that's it. Cheers, Steve

I like your sheath too.
The only thing I would do differently is to kolrose the main handle with a similar design. Excellent job. Thank you for sharing this.

I wish I could make beautiful things like that.
A beautiful piece of work. That sheath with the brass band very nice but wouldn’t you be concerned using that material and have it break or crack as it looked to be quite thick with all the bending to shape it.
I don't think it will crack because it's rather flexible. You can find these type of brace on some marttiini knives.
Thanks for the comment ;-)
beautiful
Great job👍🤝
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks though
Wonderful work! Love it! Greetings from Nürnberg

Ciao, cosa hai usato per incidere le lastre di ottone ?

what is name of liquid, you used for brass?
I Could never cut my sheath like that. What would happen to me is it would slip and I would cut through the stitching.
Beautiful knife! What is that acid you use for the brass part?
I paused and zoomed in. It was Ferric Chloride. Be sure to use a separate batch for etching copper or brass than for steel as the don’t “play” nicely together.
Do you sell these knives? On line? Etsy? Let me know - I’d be very interested in adding one of these to my collection
