I would really love a Gold Saucer expansion (not like an actual expansion expansion but like, extra stuff to the gold saucer) because rn there’s honestly not enough stuff in the gold saucer.
It’d be so sick if they added like a whole new wing to the gold saucer and added more events and things to do. Or like you said add a completely new leisurely area.

    1. Double weekly tomestone cap
    2. When you buy a capped tomestone gear piece, you have the ability to buy any of the same slot with uncapped tomes. I.e. if I buy a healing chestpiece with capped tomestones, I should be able to buy a fending/maiming/scouting/etc chestpiece with uncapped tomes

You don't _need_ to be BiS but it sure as hell makes it a noticeably better experience. You have more health meaning you can likely survive a mit mistake here and there, you do more damage so you have to see less of the fight, and if you're learning a new job at Savage level the gear will make up for imperfect rotations.
Hell, there's just a dopamine hit of "I've hit BiS on this class" that's always nice too. I'm personally collecting an unopened set of Savage gear for the next expansion's poster class to go into it with "90 BIS" gear since there's literally no reason to want to have anything but the best gear unless you're specifically going into minilvl content for the experience or bragging rights.

So no, your SAM can't share gear with the NIN, but it sure as hell shares gear with the MNK. Not sure why that's so hard for Xenosys to understand? The context was pretty clear here. He's saying the number of raid gearsets hasn't changed since ARR, so farming armour doesn't take any longer just because they add jobs. Farming weapons is another story.

I'm ok with bis taking awhile in the even patches but in the odd patches gearing should be really fast.
Even patches should be for the slower, classical progression as you get to BiS with one, maybe two classes.
Odd patches should be when it's really easy to get BiS on every class so you can do the tier retroactively with different classes and get BiS for ultimate which is the new challenge.
I don't get why people want anything different than this. This is the healthiest way for a raid tier to be. Not that we'll ever get a guaranteed ultimate every tier of course...
Regardless, the way I'd do it is even patches are exactly as they are, though maybe I'd add a "if you clear a savage tier your cap for tomes increases by 30 for this week" up to a +120 cap increase for clearing all four floors.
Then in the odd patch, the lockout is removed right from the getgo. Progression is over, go have fun, learn new classes, try new strats, do new things. Cap increases to +120 for everyone (or maybe further). Also an ultimate always comes out. Also alliances give -10 ilevel from bis gear that can be upgraded to BiS with the savage mat and no longer locked out. Change up the BiS, it will be fun! Some ultimate raiders will complain about having to re-bis up but I don't think it will be that bad if it's not locked out.

I think the current gearing setup is fine for the first 8 weeks of prog. This allow HC and competant MC groups to progress and complete the tier in the "maximum" timeframe and get their first BIS.
After that, they should make it easier. Double the tome drops for raids with 4+ new players who have never cleared the fight before, and drop an extra coffer, and replace the 1-per-week limit with a 1-per-week, per job class. This encourages people to go in multiple times a week on alternate jobs, help out newer players, and makes gearing faster.

This is the 'sense of pride and accomplishment' argument in another form.
'I think the *feeling* of progression should trump the ability to enter a super high-end fight'
-So it's more important to feel like you're progressing than it is to streamline the gearing process to enter the high-end fights available for the people that want to? For people trying to be a flex pick (can be tank, DPS, or healer), even with just three jobs to gear for that fight takes a while due to tomestone weekly caps - players are already grinding tomestones from the same few endgame dungeons and raids to do that - over the course of the patch. People don't want to 'hurry up and wait,' especially in a game that encourages you to try other jobs and job roles. And those jobs so far get increased by two (excluding BLU) every expansion. Something's gotta give.

I'd agree the "you don't need BiS", but only use it in the context of content outside of savage and ultimate. Even for savage, I'd consider BiS is a bit overkill for the 1st and 2nd floors. However, I'd only use this point against people who think they absolutely have to play jobs that they have BiS in. I don't think it's a good reason against "speeding up BiS acquisition."
Another thing I'd agree but correct about Xeno and other popular streamers/content creators is that they are 1% but not because they are savage and ultimate raiders, but because they are week 1 clearers. I think it's fair to assume most raiders and statics don't clear a raid tier or ultimate within 1-2 weeks. However, I'd also not use this against his argument about speeding up BiS acquisition. Disregarding his argument because of the type of person he is is not a logical argument nor a good counter argument.
I think this reddit post is just another one of those arguments that are bringing up points that aren't really directly relevant. Personally, I don't care about loot unlock being earlier or not, but I also don't think Xeno's arguments for it is wrong or bad for the game.

you can sorta tell that even if they do raid they dont really raid on multiple jobs because even if you look at say redmage and summoner to blackmage you have a very different BiS because blackmage prefers at least 1200 sps while redmage and especially summoner gain so little from extra spellspeed you might even be throwing the rotations off when you meld too much for them.

Depends on the streamer. Some are indeed focused on raiding. Others have other focus. Some are focused on optimization of rotations. Others on glamours, new players advice. Etc.
As long as is legal, you can focus your channel in whatever you like.
The reason gear is weekly locked is so that content is not eaten too fast. The alternative would be that no one gets their gear after 2 weeks as not enough people would be doing the savage. This will have the effect of the have and the have not. Damaging the game as a whole.
Is easy for a steamer to get people on any day. Is not easy for someone who works to schedule a group of 8 people to play with. Specially when elitism is involved. The current system allows for a longer window to get the BIS. Which allows people without a static to get the BIS. What is proposed will shorten the window meaning less people will stick around.

      @TheVlav Рік тому

Thats where I completly disagree any veteran who has done the hard content, are good at playing the game. By allowing them to alt job or just gear other jobs in general. You give them
      1. A reason to stick around gearing
      2. Because they can alt job they will continue to raid for fun
      3. Because they are able to alt job they can help newbies raid easily.
      4. In general there would be more people in the pf raiding then the steep decline you see right after BiS
Currently even myself. I didn't bother to do this current raid tier but I've done all the raid tiers on content since Eden Verse. After doing the 8 weeks. What's the reason to grind out besides just doing the weekly reclear. I would likely have fun and play more if I could alt job and mess around in the pf practicing other jobs.
Mind you this problem wasn't just in Endwalker it was also prevalent in shadowbringers. We had complained a lot back then but the only measly change is some items cost a little less books. It's not enough considering all the jobs there are, and not all roles share gear. And if you are thinking yeah dps that aren't the same obviously don't. It isn't just that. Some healers want more spell speed. Some tanks want more skill speed. Warrior at one point wants more det/dh then crit since fell cleave 100% crits. Blackmage has either a crit build or spell speed build. Within that if you use that Bis you may not be able to play red mage or summoner due to the spell speed you are running.
Tldr; the slow gearing is not keeping veterans engage in the game most I know do week 1 either do a double split so they finish gearing week 4 or finish week 8. Then they're just done. XIV player retention for the midcore/hardcore is at a all time low.

From what I can tell how they were doing loot lockout before Endwalker was… a little okay, since the patches were shorter. But with these longer paches yeah they should really consiter unlocking the raid teir a lot earlier. Like here is what I’d do.
    - Raid tier comes out: its loot locked.
    - lockout on raid ends in the next major patch (this is I believe the latest they should be doing it. Four months is more than enough time).
    - Alliance Raid is not locked out except the item to get the augmented tome gear, so it doesn’t outright kill the raid entirely on release.
    - tome augments unlock in the x.x5 patch of the Alliance raid coming out. Less time with the lockout since the raid as already provided a lot of the tome armoe upgrades anyway. Alliance raids are meant as a catch up. Let people at least farm the higher ilevel gear from it.
As Zeno said, as a game that promotes multiclassing, they need to allow faster gearing for alts. Like come on, there are three armor set types and two accessory types in the Melee Dps category. If you main melee dps, you are probably still trying to get bis for your second or third set.

Getting Tome gear so you can do content is not progress, is a requirement, you may not require BIS but unless you're with friends going on the minimum requirements, people are gonna expect you to go with at least the mininum of the BIS, perhaps the most optimal but at least have one of the top3 ilevel gear, which is tome gear or crafted gear, or savage gear

Yes, full clearing Savage gives more chances at gear, but it takes EIGHT weeks of P12S kills to get a weapon per job assuming yours doesn't outright drop (fairly likely considering we are at 19 about to be 21 different weapons).

IMO as someone who also raids week 1, and Ultimates on launch. Along with being a WoW raider for many years. The "gear progression" argument in ff14 never really made sense to me. Each tier i feel like i'm only grinding to get back to the same point i was in the previous tier (usually involving getting back to the SkS that feels good to play). Unlike other games FF14 doesn't really have massive class changes between tiers and the gear is mostly the same everytime. Unlike something like WoW where every patch classes play massively different due to legendries, Trinkets, Tier sets, etc which allows the grind to feel like you're working for something new. It makes gearing in ff14 to me every patch feeling more like a chore than actually a fun part of raiding.

Assuming you don’t get a single item from wing 1/2 and get walled by wing 3, let’s say you gear up the casual way.
If you do 7 weeks of 4 wing Normal, and cap weekly tomestones, you will have near BIS in 12-13 weeks.
That’s 3 months, if you cap weekly.
Most casual players aren’t going to stick around for 13 weeks, if they aren’t going to “get gud” to be able to clear 1/2 or god forbid, the 3rd wing.
It should be like half, maybe make the Normal tome weapon 4 weeks from the beginning and add 50% to the weekly tomes cap.
If you don’t raid, the upgraded tomestone gear has no purpose anyway.

God you can probably now get your missing piece from 9-11 for free or like a 500k each mercrun. Ppl have more than enough of that.
But getting another 2k tomes for BiS for a 2nd job is just disgusting. On healer I'm missing over 500crit when I'm fully raidgear without tomes. Some jobs like Healers, Tanks, Nin get absolutely wrecked by missing tomegear
And farming tomes for another 2 months to finally be able to play healer or tank or w/e at the level I'd like to is just way too long. The main reason to stop playing for me is not being able to get BiS due to restricted tomes. The timeframe is just way overdone

I never play anything Extreme/Savage/Ultimate in this game, so theoretically, I don't really need to gear up. Heck, I don't even have to gear up at all, as long as I somehow meet min iLV requirement of new patch's dungeon/raid. It means I can ignore like 80% of what FF14's gameplay offers and can just go unsub after .0 patch and come back when the .55 patch drops so I can finally just grind end-expansion gear, assuming I don't have a house to be wary of.
Then again, why do I even play a RPG/MMORPG if I don't grind gear to become stronger in one way or another? Perhaps I never do things that require better gear, but better gear should be a goal in a RPG/MMORPG, instead of trying to justify "not worth the grind".

See, i agree, the content has been great (If slow, as usual, if you rush it clears fast) the problem is still alt jobs/grinding. I've pushed raids in crafted gear and yeah, it's rooough, great for leveling the next patch but oof.
I want to see stuff like NG-EX Where you actually get XP for replaying the story, lockouts being per-job-type (EG: You can Raid as a Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged phys, Ranged magic AND healer and get a drop on each type) and generally faster levelling/gearing for alts. For us psychos that basically main "Multiclass" and learn fights in EVERY role, if i want to be insane enough to clear something like TOP as you brought up, not once, but FIVE TIMES IN A ROW IN DIFFERENT ROLES, i should actually be rewarded for it (Prog'ing a fight as a healer is a lot different than as a tank, obv)
Like, the sheer amount of effort it took me in stormblood and shadowbringers to get basically every job to 70/80 and the outright grind from hell it's being in endwalker to even get a second job to 90, let alone one in EVERY job role and then to gear it? That part just gets worse with every expansion because for all the new jobs they've added, they've added basically ZERO ways to alt-grind faster, especially if you aren't in an FC or something that does grind pushes.
No joke, something as easy as making the beast tribes give a FULL LEVEL per day in their level range and changing lockouts to per-role instead of per-char would be an insane improvement to the endgame progression in FF14

If people don't have to grind out the fights for months to get BiS, anyone who wants to raid after the first month or so might have a lot more issues getting a group together to play. Increasing the rate that alt jobs get gear (main jobs is largely fine I think though the system could use some tweaks) could reduce the number of later raiders by enough to cause issues.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t that the whole focal point of being able to have all the jobs on one character?
cause the other solution is just making separate characters for everything but that regresses back to the WoW concept of making separate characters and let’s say we did that we can only make 8 characters so the underlying problem still exists you cannot bis all jobs within a raid patch cycle.

I did get a set of credendum for my casters though cus I had no gear and figured why not just get it for one group, tanks and healers are all in pentad dia gear, going to start on ranged classes next, and then on to the hard part, gearing all the other dps that don't share as many things, though I also still have to level all that so no rush there, I am not a dps person so my dps are lagging behind lol.

Beyond the boring (safe and balanced) pure stat stick approach, it just takes way too long to obtain for how many jobs there are in the game. There's a key point missed here, and that's that over time, PF will gradually increase their ilvl requirements to join things like savage reclears and even EX farm parties. Because of this, it makes it borderline impossible to join on any gear type that isn't your primary or secondary, since it takes so long to get any gear beyond crafted. God forbid you play more than a single role, but no we have to keep gear time-gated for 'muh progression'. This is especially bad for players that aren't hardcore raiders, as they'll be clearing the savage tier much later, so their ability to pad ilvl with savage drops is greatly decreased (assuming you even get lucky in PF and don't take 8 clears just to gear your main), so they're almost entirely reliant on tomes to pad ilvl.
Also adding that savage still having lockouts and tome cap existing when an Ultimate is released that requires gear from said savage is the dumbest thing ever. It makes the inevitable burnout from statics exploding to Ulti prog 100x worse since you can't just easily reform the players you have on different roles, you're stuck on whatever 1, maybe 2 jobs you have geared for it when it released, which makes recruitment a nightmare when you just want to get back in and prog.

This will most likely not be the case with EW content, I cant imagine anyone ever revisiting variant/criterion or island sanctuary ever again after DT comes out, or even really a week after their respective launch patches as shown by previous releases of them. Hell even diadem and the firmament still have the pteranodon grind meaning come next expansion more people will be running that than EW content, which really puts into perspective how little incentive there is to doing any of it and how easy a fix it would be by attaching the relic to it.

Honestly, I would prefer a Tomestone/Savage gear set that you only have to farm once and can be equipped on all jobs in the game, with appearance and stats syncing automatically based on the job.
It should be feasible to implement, take up less space in the arsenal, and at least we could play whatever we want without spending 9 months leveling up and ultimately not having time to create more than two sets.
    For exemple:
A small gray chest,hat,boots,etc,... icon with a little synchronization arrow, and the ability to right-click on the item to view its appearance or stats based on the roles.
The experience-boosting earrings offered as a pre-order bonus for expansions partially have this system, with the appearance remaining the same.

if you take into account the tomestone capped at 450/week, it takes a very long time to farm several sets
taking into account that we cannot farm 2 rings but only one with the tomestone before upgrading one, you need to count 4635 without the weapon for the stuff and add 500 for the weapon and 375 for the ring improved.
you don't have the possibility of doing many sets, except if you combine savage and tomestone, but with the current system of the game and the fact that the game includes more and more jobs, it is a totally obsolete system with their current philosophy.
If you take into account a entire tomestone gear, it's about 3 months and a week of farming for a whole gear.
