Me and my boyfriend went halves on this car we bought it for £900 a few years ago, it needed some attention to the brakes but we managed to get it on the road and drivable. We also replaced the starter motor, only after a good few months of bump starting it!! The previous owner put in a half cadge and some impractical road seats, we have slowly been doing up the interior but there is a LOT more to make it comfortable. This car has been a nice easy cruiser, for the most part reliable and I love driving it to the Porsche 924 meet ups!

It wasn't the 911 that always saved the Porsche when it was in trouble.
In the 70s, 924, in the 80s, 944, in the 90s, BOXSTER saved them, and in the 2000s, the Cayenne saved them.
No matter what anyone says, all models are Porsche as long as they wear the Porsche badge.
You know what the 924 was the first to use the name of the CARRERA GT. :)

That snobbishness is still alive and well ! I drove from Galway to Cirencester to attend a PCGB meet in my 944 - the 944/924 people stuck to a big session in the student bar and got fed from a chip van outside - the snobs all had a big black tie affair - we had such a good time with really down to earth people and left the snobs to rip the backs of one another 😀

This was a unique and enjoyable video…so thank you! I own a 1990 944s2 Cabriolet. It was a gift to “me” when I made Captain in the Navy, the same year I turned 50. Your enthusiasm for the marque and model is obvious. And you’re right. While I store mine during the winter (due to the New England winters), come spring, she’ll still bring me “smiles with the miles”! (Or in your case, kilometers!). As an aside….very cool VW van! We inherited a 1987 924s from my parents. They bought it new and has been garaged kept..love it.
subbed . I've been watching videos on 924's they really do have something about them . Agreed 80s stuff never gets old.
This for sure helped me with possibly going and trading my vw project for a 78 924. I’ve been wanting to get into some road racing here in the states more, and I possibly have a really good deal on a running 78 and a donor car. Thanks a ton!
My dad had a Porsche 944 Turbo and a 914 when I was a kid. Both Blinky headlights. It used to scare the crap out of the dogs when they saw the headlights open up. They would run in Terror as if some sort of monster was staring at them.
He now has a 924 sitting in his yard that A friend gave him that was destined to a scrap yard.
I also loved the way you can pop the roof panel out completely - my old 924 came with a sleeve for the panel.

I had a 924S and sold it because I was too lazy to do some work it needed .
I just bought one again, got some learning and a bit of fixing to do, but runs sweet !
I currently have a 84 944 and I love it, its auto, but none the less I love driving it, it is definitely a love hate relationship.

Always had a soft spot for the underdog Porsche’s…914’s, 924’s, Boxster ….remember…without these…there would have been no further 911’s…and with air cooled Porsches going nuts 8n prices…the water cooled front engines P’s are becoming more dear.

I always had a passion for air-cooled vw(have 2) and recently picked up a 1983 944 but like you said my favorite thing about it the Classic pop up headlights❤ If I can find a decent 924 I would love to have that as a daily.

@@EstherQuaintmere I have a 1969 Beetle turned into a Baja and my other is a 1974(std) beetle that I'm doing g a pan off restoration. I had a 71 Type II bus wish I didn't have to get rid of it 😒. Keep up the good work ill be keeping a eye out for the next video! Cheers!

My 924 is from January 1980 I love it. It sleeps with my 2014 Beetle... I love VW Porsche nostalgia

If the original version of this car had had a larger engine it would have been great. It was not unil 1986 that they added a 2.5l engine in the 924 S. The 924 was nonetheless a beautiful looking car. The original mag wheels were the absolute best looking in my opinion. All other mag wheel versions did not even come close.

I bought a 1983 924 (2 Liter) in 1986 and still have the car. Pros: -High quality long live car -Easy to repair -Cheap spare parts Contra: -Needs high quality gas (Super plus) -8.5ltr/100km.. a little bit too much -Slow (0-100: 9.9sec / max speed 203 km/h) -People challange you for a race.. -polarizing car (Why did'nt you buy a 911??)

I’m 17 and I’m thinking about buying a 1982 924. It has 56k miles and a 5 spd manual, I don’t know what maintenance costs are like but I’m in love with it what do y’all think
They take a lot of wrench work typically to keep running. The fuel,system hates any ethenol. If you are ok with wrench work, and know your way around an engine, you would probably be ok. If not, stay clear of them. I have had 3, and still have my 81 924, though not running at present, did I mention ethenol?:)
yer you do have the Porche tax on it i.e just cause its a porche parts are a little bit more expensive, but as Kevin said if your ok doing things your self you will love it! let us know what you get!

I love engine work! Taking them apart and putting them together so satisfying! Don’t like working on then in place when theres an issue so much! 🤣
