Do you have a video showing how to track different angles in the 3D object during playback? Example: from a stereo track or a mono track of bird chirping, to the chirping starting above head then moving to left ear then moving below then moving to right ear
Always an explosive theme, the thing is I’ve always found the best DAW is the one that’s the best for the engineers workflow, technical side tends to be secondary
Superb, as always, Alejandro! Could you make an addendum with Digital Performer and Dolby ATMOS Composer, pls? It would be interesting to hear your opinion, especially with a DAW with a large installed base. TIA
I didn't include DP as it doesn't support Atmos layouts and for it to work with them, a whole rerouting headache had to be followed (see Michael Wagner's video). So if I were to include it, I probably would have disqualified it, too - should they update the track's layouts throughout 2024, I'll have it in the to-do list 😉
Nice video. But cakewalk (sonar) does indeed support surround up to 8.1 channels and have various multichannel (DX)plugins and a surround panner. It' doesn't however support surround VST plugins at all
Excellent video, but I have a question, how do I add a reverb and have it follow the panning of the Dolby Atmos beam, in a few words, how are the panning of a track and a send linked with the DAC?
Studio One v6.5+ and above does support 3-dimensional objects for Dolby up to 9.1.6, as Presonus says so right on the product's web page. Just saying 🤷♀ Anyways, great video content, thumbs up. Except for the few errors hehe 😁
Just checked - as of today, Studio One 6.6 still DOES NOT support three-dimensional OBJECTS (objects aren't beds, nor tracks), i.e. you CANNOT convert a 9.1.6 track to an object, only mono or stereo :) Thanks for the comment, except for the misunderstanding :)
@@AudioBrewers Whoa, I just went back to the website section since several months ago, and it clearly said it supported 3-dimensional objects. And now the entire section of the page is gone. Maybe they are working on it and someone spilled the beans too early ? Maybe they will release it in v7
Very true, but if you think about it, this applies to most major DAWs, and Reaper has a quick solution: Create a new track, and insert your track inside the new track (i.e. Folder), and then add the beam to the folder. It's not a fancy solution, but just to think of the solution on the other DAWs gives me the cringes ;) However, as you mentioned, I wish the fader and panner could be moved as if they were inserts!
@@AudioBrewers don't get me wrong, I switched to Reaper 5 years ago and it's now my only DAW I mix and master and I love it. I still convert stuff on PT, Logic and Cubase. But Studio One, Sonar, Cubase and Ardour (MixBus) do have post-fader inserts. I think this would not be too hard thing in Reaper since it seems so modular. I wish they would even make parameter modulation with fader. This would offer a quite usable hack.
@@vesalaasanen2158 Yeah, lets hope Cockos implements Post Fader Inserts sooner than later. Would be a killer feature. We are using Reaper since 2010 as main DAW. We will publish a special tutorial on how to use DAC in Reaper without actually having the headache/need for post fader inserts, thanks to some really neat routing features of Reaper. Stay tuned.
@@fiedler-audio , looking forward to it! I have couple of script approaches but they either: - are very complex to control with external surface - clutter TCP and/or MPC - Have DAC and other plugins separated by hundred tracks Just to have fader as parameter modulation source would make this a piece of cake. Come on Cockos!
So, even if you have the audio card you still have to position the speakers to relate to the channels of audio relative to the atmos settings , but you can do it.
@@hifidavid Of course, if you use a 5.1 layout, simply set 5.1 in the atmos renderer, and of course, the speakers must be position in the Dolby 5.1 way :)

Hi ... I have the essential version installed and I'm using Reaper. I'm using a 7.1 wav file of a 3 minute music video. When insert the beam vst all seems well but the Dolby Composer ... that plugin starts up but all I see is a long PR message about the Dolby Atmos Composer. I don't see anything like I see in your videos ... Can anybody help to get it working ... Please ... Thank you ... Gary
@@AudioBrewers it was solved. It was the welcome screen. It was huge and the close button was not easy to find. All is well ... I changed my desktop box rez settings & the main screen appeared :)

If you are taking about Ambisonics, check our ab Encoder videos for exactly that!
Thanks for putting in all the hard work to create this video--and the amazing plugins/instruments you also make.
Thanks so much for watching and enjoying our products! :)
Thanks, this is really helpful, first time I’ve seen how the different systems work…
Thank you! It is indeed interesting to see how different developers approach a similar idea!

Nice video! The fact that Reaper doesn't have post-fader inserts is a real bummer since you lose the fader functionality.

Hi . What sound card do you recommend to get the best result from Dolby Atmos? (With how many input/output Channel?
I love RME's.
However, for a 7.1.4 Array you need a total of 12 Outputs, so if a card you like has them, you can go ahead and get it :)
