Wow never thought about this when purchasing a water bottle! My 9 month old baby just started using a sippycup with a straw and it takes so much more facial work to use. Right now with the constant facial work 💪🏽👍🏽
Cool Jess thanks for sharing. It's important we think about how to care for the craniofacial health of the young just as much as we think about how to care for that of adults. Perhaps even more so, since there is so much more potential for change in children.
Wow your jaw is looking very defined and you can even see some hollowness in your cheeks. Thanks for sharing your journey with us man. The videos are very helpful!
@@JawHacks Can palatal expansion really push your cheekbones outwards? Personally, I've gotten huge facial width changes, not so sure about it's bones projection though.
This makes so much sense based on what I've been reading. Thanks so much for the tip. (Also another cause of improper tongue posture and tongue thrusting is a developmental issue such as autism which is the case for me)
This hopefully won’t come off as conceited.... So I have high cheekbones, a strong jawline and fuller lips. My teeth were naturally pretty straight. Once I had my wisdom pulled, the crowding I did have went away. The dentist said I did not need braces, I was lucky. I have a half brother who did not win the dental jack pot and ended up getting veneers when he was older. I mentioned my lips bcuz in pictures you can see prior to 16 -18 my lips looked normal (not as full) and then after my wisdom teeth were pulled and my teeth re aligned(the dentist said that teeth also move forward a bit as well) my lips were significantly fuller. And I’m not complaining but I find it interesting that my lips changed after all that. As you’ve gone through (continue through)this dental change...Have you noticed a change in your lips?
Thanks for sharing. AGGA probably my lips more prominent insofar as it moved my upper front teeth forward (which in turn must have moved my upper lip forward). You could check the before/after photos of my AGGA treatment on my blog to see for yourself. I'm not great at the aesthetic analysis stuff.
Or because we never latched correctly! My mom told me I had issues. Also my youngest daughter had a hard time latching but not my oldest. We both have sleeping issues. Good idea w\the strong straw!
I don’t know if this relates to me or not. I have dysphagia to the degree that my upper oesophagus spasms and then until I can get it to relax, whether it’s seconds or hours, I cannot get food or liquid to pass and reach my stomach. Upon eating blended food to hopefully negate the spasm (whether or not it will be successful is the trial) I have noticed that I feel like I have a weak swallow. When I drink it’s almost like a car going through the gears. It’s weird, but it feels like my first couple of swallows the clutch is stuck and I can’t successfully shift through gears 1-2. Then at gear 3 (swallow 3) my throat will engage and my swallows become more forceful. I’m starting my own treatment of learning or at least trying to learn how to swallow properly. Interestingly I don’t have symmetrical control over my face. For example when we hold air in our cheeks and then push it from one side of the mouth to the other I can only push air into my left side. I have zero control in getting it into my right side. Not sure if this is related or not. Just trying new stuff I guess.
Since you are drinking out of the bottle by sucking - isn’t that going to make your cheek muscles bigger? What about taking small sips of water and focussing on swallowing that properly
I just bought a water bottle with a straw. I think my mouth hits the front teeth, and I move my chin while swallowing a lot. It is hard to know what the right way is supposed to feel. I will use this water bottle very often now. I hope it will guide me to correct my posture.
My tongue only wanna go forward when swallowing. Apparently the harder you try to push it up, the harder it will try to move forward. The idea is to just feel the movement rather than forcing it.
Regarding to the topic, what do you think about Dr. Mew and swallowing? He states that we must progress from infant swallowing to adult swallowing and how this correlates to the buccinators. In your video, I think you imply that we should go for the infant swallowing. Correct if I'm wrong or what's your opinion regarding to Dr. Mew's point of view. ua-cam.com/video/gcI8CvoFxfQ/v-deo.html
I think people misunderstand Mike Mew, as I understand it, the issue is babies are too quickly transitioned to food (that is not solid) and not breastfed enough, breastfeeding teaches them a proper swallow but when they transition to food too quickly they don't swallow properly.
@@soldatnerd Nope. The swallow of a baby suckling is entirely different from an adult food swallow. The first uses the buccinator muscles, the second does not.

JupiMeow not to be an annoyance, but genuinely asking how do you properly swallow? Like I have the tongue posture under control, but I can’t seem to fix my swallow. Is it like a scoop or what?
Thanks for the video, btw I think it would be a very popular video or series of videos if you did some myofunctional therapy exercises, all the best ones to learn and practice and master.
this is actually the opposite of what you should be doing. Yes, it develops facial muscles but it will develop the muscles in your cheeks primarily. And if you want that hollow cheeks look then u want to be using those cheek muscles less.
I question whether adults can gain from mewings without orthodontic intervention Its a hell of a lot of effort I admit you can benifit from some changes like body posture
Do you think pushing laterally while mewing will give better results than simply pushing back and up? As IMW seems to be directly correlated to facial upswing and good maxillary development. I've been mewing fairly hard for around 8 months now with very little to show, maybe my gonial angle has gotten a bit better, but for all I know it was just because I lost a bit of weight. Kind of frustrating for me, as there hasn't been a day gone by now that I don't consciously mew hard. But everybody on Reddit seems to 'have erupted cheekbones'. Honestly I'm just not seeing it myself personally, just turned 24 a few weeks ago, so I might be too old
I've always combined Mewing with expansion devices such as AGGA or MSE. When I have tried expanding my face using Mewing alone I have never noticed anything but negligible amounts of change, perhaps some changes to muscle tone. My experience has always been that I am unable to Mew consistently with my small mouth. That is why I have used AGGA and am now using MSE to give me more oral volume so that I can Mew more consistently. I want to be able to hold proper tongue posture more consistently because I believe that it is impossible to have correct neck posture without correct tongue posture. And correct neck posture is important to me because it helps reduce my headaches (occipital neuralgia).
The biggest factor is chin tucking. Mewing plus chin tucking is critical. I’m about 31 and I’ve been mewing for about a year. My cheek bones became more noticeable by other peoples accounts when I chin tucked more regularly. Try it out and see
Totally agree that bottle feeding and the like has messed up generations of teeth. So grateful the pendulum has swung the other way for my kids. God designed us to develop a certain way. Too bad scientists thought they knew better than what happens naturally.
You are not crazy. You are pushing the boundaries of the established and that is powerful. Cheers from Peru.
