- Turner Towing spent several hours on Tuesday, Feb. 14 bringing up a pickup truck that had gone through the ice and into the cold waters of Gull Lake near Ernie's on Gull.
Look for full story and details of how this was accomplished in Thursday's Brainerd Dispatch and BrainerdDispatch.com.
That's trucking unbelievable, man! This gives new meaning to "pick up truck!"
Welcome to another National Geographic special. Tonight, truck fishing in Minnesota.
In late winter and early spring, schools of pickup trucks swim upstream to spawn in Minnesota's crystal clear waters.
Here we see local fishermen, who've hooked one such pickup truck after it has mated and laid its eggs.
lol lol
.........
Y’all were featured on an episode of real mechanic stuff!! I saw turner towing and typed it in to find y’all
Pierwszy raz widzę, przy podnoszeniu samochodów spod lodu PROFESJONALNĄ ROBOTĘ! Gratulacje!
"For sale: 2002 GMC Sierra. First wash is free!" Lol!
wow! u caught yourself a 5 thousand pounder!
Well now....That makes it easy !! Good job boy's !!
Awesome recovery job. From the looks of rig these guys do this on a regular basis :)
Yeah but like snow plowers do these guys have landscaping jobs in the summer?
@@MrNuthed Not everyone who plows is a scaper. Infact most plowing is done by large commercial construction businesses, not little landscapers who do driveways.
That's a good chain
Kind of small but it did the job.
Good thing these trucks have a water separator on the fuel filter.
Let's go out on the ice with a 50 gallon diesel tank in the back
Minnesota state law says a driver has 30 days to have the vehicle removed from the water. If a government agency has to get the vehicle out, it’s a misdemeanor.
Sad thing is...
It happens often enough they made a special crane to lift em out.
Darwin obviously didn't have a clue.
Notice the off road fuel leaked into the water way, diesel fuel
Nice and clean
Insurance companies consider a vehicle as "Salvage" if water has risen higher than the rocker panels (on a bevel vehicle). Since this truck was completely swimming with the fishes, it is salvage or junk. The title would say salvage and the truck would be parted out or scraped.
I bet the guy had a real nice ice shanty he was going to pull out there.. but first he just wanted to drive down and check out the neighborhood.
Cool tools!
Very Cool.
Apparently don’t have to worry about washing it now looks very clean.
Probably cost more than the truck to get it out
Not the best way to find out how thick the ice Is! 😀 🇨🇦
Think Jerry Lundaguard will be able to sell it after it dries out?
Only with the true gard undercoat
That Chain is Tiny when u think of what a the weight of the water is inside the truck
I have watched a few of these types of vehicle retrievals from falling through the ice, but I’ve always wondered what prevents the large boom or towing rig from plummeting through the very same ice, I understand it’s got an expanded footprint, but it has to support the weight of the rigging & machinery, as well as the weight of the water filled vehicle as it exits the water.
They wait until the ice is thick enough to support their weight. They will drill the ice every few days until it's at a safe thickness. Then cut the hole for the truck to come back through.
Sometimes they drag them under the ice. A ways away from where they went through.
I think I would have a thicker chain than that!
Dont forget to get off the ice!!!
Интересная конструкция, молодцы кто придумал.
I wonder if you left windows open and meat in truck s interior can you catch togue and cusk ?
Craigslist: clean car fax. Runs good no damage garage kept
Recently detailed inside and out
craigslist ad used fishing truck. little water damage, might be some fish somewhere in the truck dont know. very very clean but might have a little lake dead fish smell but i think some air freshner might fix that..
How much did that job cost....
Bet not cheep!!!!
Anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000. Depends on all the equipment and time needed.
Did you mount it and put it on your wall.
Submarine races are next week.
At least it's clean
+ha181293 LOL i was thinking exactly same
Heidi True
how thick is that ice!
thats one way to wash your car
always wondered how they did this
Looks like Mother Nature did the owner a favor. I like Chevy's but those awful Altezza style tail lights, chrome everything, the chrome bed rail toppers, window arches and so much more.
nice lifting chain
that sucks....and NO....you cannot leave it there. The DNR will make you remove it or fine the hell out of you. Had one fall through the lake my dd lives on, heard it cost about 30K to get it pulled out.
And to think the cost of that recovery is NOT COVERED BY THE Insurance Company. That is an out of pocket. Plus the Fines that come along with it.
Craigslist special
lucky it was a lake not the sea
salt water = wright off rusty wiring/ chassis/body(cab)
fresh water = saveable/salvageable just needs a good dry
Brandon Freeman i think your should think before you speak as, many insurance company's will often not write off a car if its been in fresh water as for salt water its very corrosive and it rust most things like the wiring(even tinned or copper coated wire will corrode)
as for the interior shit who the fuck cares so long as its looks good and smells good for the owner (as if it was not submerged in water) that how insurance company's go by/for
i brought a car that had been submerged in fresh water it has a note on the registration saying that this car has been in fresh water and that it was been repaired and that it could still have water damage(car looks new as if it had not even seen the rain)
think before you open your mouth mate
or try not to have any beersies before you youtube lol
+Brandon Freeman You're wrong man buddy of mine works at a salvage company here in Canada but many trucks go under and they can be saved. Drain the tanks, oil, take the spark plugs out and turn it over a couple times clears the engine. Take the seats out and let it sit in a heated shop for about a month and its usually good. Ive personally seen it done.
agreed, that truck will be on the road again.
Any update on the driver?
Nice floater coat. Helps if it is zipped up. The other guys aren't wearing any PFDs. Lol
Safety ?
Vee don't need no stinkin' Safety !
Always parked in the garage oil low miles change on time one owner
DID THE DRIVER LIVE
At least the car is clean
Just take it to a car wash next time ya goof
nah thats not mine. put it back and get another one
that's one way to wash your truck
Looks like this would cost about as much as a new truck. Why spend so much to retrieve a ruined truck? Or is it more of an environmental thing?
think this is good?. i just watched a video of 4 men using 2 planks of wood and a rope to do the exact same thing as these guys. type these words:
"how to pull out car from a frozen lake.russian style"
Well at lest it got a car wash
Who had to attach the chain?
They asked the fish to help them.
A very costly Diver, about $2,500. Not counting the Rest of the Recovery Operations. A friend of mine recently did a Similar Recovery with his Tow and Recovery Company, total bill, $23,000. Took 10 hours start to finish
sinks like a rock lol
Its a chevy product should have just left it there for coral reef
chevy no problem fire it up and drive it home
Couple of points:
1) Did the driver survive? I hope so (I've watched Ice Road Truckers from day 1, so I know about the dangers etc).
2) I would not stand that close to the edge like that guy does.
Take your billowing skirt off and man up
Ice was to thin
No big lose. Only a GM product.
show me the car fax.
Truck for sale. Ran when parked
That truck did not look worth bringing up... not even for Salvage ......🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
It was Really stupid of whoever the truck belong to to take it out on the ice covered lake in the first Place.
For sale cheap
Why drive on it. Suicide or what
Chevy. Like a Rock!
Chevy Runs Deep... IN DEBT.
Saying POS chevy would be redundant.
Lol! They may not be as cute, but they surpass a Ford!
What an ugly truck
Why bother
Stupid truck dont belong on ice
After a investigation into a claim then one would be facing fraud charges criminal legal charges on top of repayment of insurance company would seek of reimbursement
It's just a freakin worthless GM and it's too small throw it back LOL.
