Freddie never did drugs before or during a concert!! He prepared physically for months before he toured. Respect for Freddie in those days, he had determination and commitment to do his best for his fans!!!💗
Queen always gets a pass plus some Queen trivia. Did anyone notice the single tear that feel from Freddie's left eye at 5:50 in the video? I always wondered whether the lyrics and how Freddie was always searching for a true partner affected him while singing at that moment. Freddie's forever love was Mary Austin, however, he was attracted to men and wanted that same feeling male partner but knew it would never happen. Freddie also wrote several songs about Mary Austin, the most notable of which is “Love of My Life”. In a 1985 interview, Mercury said of Austin, “All my lovers asked me why they couldn’t replace Mary, but it’s simply impossible. The only friend I’ve got is Mary and I don’t want anybody else. To me, she was my common-law wife. To me, it was a marriage. We believe in each other, that’s enough for me.” In the 2012 biography Mercury: An Intimate Biography of Freddie Mercury, he's quoted saying, "All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary, but it's simply impossible. I couldn't fall in love with a man the same way I did with Mary". To be so well loved by fans but still miss having that one special love for yourself. How sad for Freddie. Maybe, that's why he loved his fans so much. RIP, Freddie. We haven't forgotten you. Your music and voice lives on and on and on.
I love the tear you can very faintly see rolling down Freddy's right cheek at 6:16. Absolutely amazing the heart, soul, and emotions he put into his vocals and performance.
They still sing live!! Roger and Brian are still touring with Queen (*Adam Lambert). They are in their '70's and they're always on key and in tune! I love me some Queen.......
Totally agree with everyone who gave it a pass. Queen live is always brilliant. Loved the harmonies and the subtle changes in the drumming (go roger!) and of course the guitar riffs. What more is there to say...
What's really amazing is that Freddie was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal cords in 1975. Those made it painful for him to sing and made the high notes very difficult, which is why Roger Taylor started filling those in. He could have had surgery to remove them, but he was afraid that it would change his voice so he endured the pain because he loved performing.
I grew up in the 70s 80s, going to concerts, and i truly feel sorry for kids now. They have no clue how phenomenal Freddie really was. His vocals, showmanship, control of the audience, and his stage presence was unmatched by anybody in the 20th century. Genius. True genius. Everybody now has autotune, people dancing, and shit. I wouldnt pay 5 dollars to see any band in this era. Probably wouldnt walk across the street to see them.

Not sure why American reviewers always seem find that single bottle of Heinekin so fascinating - is Heinekin some sort of 'thing' in the US? They always mention it, with astonishment. I thought it was just a regular, common-or-garden old German lager beer. Just curious. The array of drinks were mostly for Freddie's voice - I don't recall the exact list of contents, but, I think it was Peter Hince (the roadie who delivers up and collects Freddie's mike with such precision) says somewhere in his book what they were; always the same three items at every show. One was warm water and honey, one was plain water, and I've forgotten the other one. Maybe it was beer. The sip he takes near the end of this song would def have been to refresh and prepare the pipes for those vocal pyrotechnics to come. As I understand it, Queen have rarely if ever performed drunk or stoned, etc - they were much too professional for that. They may have had some wild parties back in the day, but they really believed/still believe in giving a great show, above all else. A calming cocktail before going on with the odd sip of something during the sometimes two-hours-or-more-long shows was about their limit, I believe. Unless someone knows better? :-)
LayedBakDFR, you have asked a couple times whether Freddie was on drugs, it's my understanding that he did NOT use them before or during performances as a general rule, especially in the early days, he did coke, pot and I'm sure ludes being as prevalent as they were in the early 70's Freddie would have indulged (Freddie indulged in life whatever that may include, wink) . Don't think for one moment though, that his intensity, stage presence, or vocals weren't "natural". He was a shy individual that came alive on stage, much like Michael Jackson. I think he went through a period when they were over in Germany recording that he did a lot of partying and the mates had to tell him to get his shit together, which he did. Freddies not here to ask so it's always hand me down info.
I highly recommend the whole live aid concert, crazy little thing called love, I want to break free, who wants to live forever, princes of the universe, love of my life, these are the days of our lives and Freddie's duet Barcelona with famous soprano Caballe. completely spellbinding and mind blowing!
All the cups and bottles on the piano is something Freddie got infamous for, they're not all his, the whole band used his piano as a cup holder, but he insisted in an interview once that a piano didn't sound right without a beer of 12 sitting on top of it.

This is my all-time favorite by Queen. Freddie Mercury loved Aretha Franklin and if you listen to the original video of this song, it’s quite a bit different than hearing it live. It’s still awesome but it brings tears to my eyes and it doesn’t sound as much rock. Freddy was inspired by Aretha Franklin and absolutely loved her and this song was written about finding somebody to love and his own life and really inspired by Aretha’s gospel singing. If you haven’t seen the original video, you’ve got to see it and I guarantee you it’ll put A tear in your eyes but yet you’ll be amazed at his vocals in that chorus. THAT CHORUS LINE❤️❤️❤️

You’ll have to check out the band Journey, with Steve Perry as the lead vocalist. Him and Freddie Mercury had two of the best vocals of all time in rock and roll! Watch their Houston live concert on UA-cam from the 80s...Journey smashed it! Queen and Journey! What a time to be alive! 💕
Freddie was a true rockstar he drank smoked did as many drugs and banged as much as he possibly could. There have been several documentaries made about his life.
What a lot of the younger generation fail to realize is that auto tune and pitch correction that those who sing today would never sing live with out was not invented until 1997 so that makes Freddie's vocals even more impressive because it is so pure compared to the enhanced and manipulated vocals you hear live and in the studios from today's artists. He was one in a billion and im sure i will never see another Freddie in my life time.
Whenever possible he kept tea with honey on the piano to soothe his throat. He said he would never drink beer on stage and risk burping into the mic, it would be disrespectful to his audience.
Was Freddie on drugs you ask? He was a rockstar during the 70s and 80s lol I think that answers your question. Seriously though, His private parties are notorious. Tony Montana would have trouble keeping up with Freddie.
The parties were over blown and Freddie didn't dabble as much as believed. As many have noted, he would be broke if those rumors were completely true. Freddie was very professional, a work horse and he died a multi millionaire. He wasn't abusing drugs as much as you think!

Freddie had "Attitude" before there was a word for it!
Pass! Not one of their best, but they have a Wicked tone and vocal range.
Thank you man for playing it and made a reactions!
react to Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé "Barcelona"
one thing i like about queen is that, besides Freddy is the band lead, everybody can show their talents during their shows
Wiki the "dude" on the guitar that looks like Howard Stern....Brian May. You'll be thrilled.
Freddie was a true rockstar he drank smoked did as many drugs and banged as much as he possibly could. There have been several documentaries made about his life.
i LOVE Freddie singing this track .. wow .. so great.. He a perfectionist .. miss him so much xxxx
The studio version of this song is worth a listen. The other band members put out some seriously tight harmonies.
I do badly want to see you react to the life aid concert, you will absolutely love it trust me.. I've put people on it... Lol Do it!!!!
Freddie 💜💜💜
Best voice ever. Glad you liked it.
Dragon Attack in montreal 1981 (same concert) PLEASE
You HAVE to listen to Queen with earphones! You are really missing out of the Queen experience!
React to "One Vision" & "Princes of the Universe" by Queen...
This is the type of stuff 💜😌🎵
I've been a Queen fan ever since I heard their first album 'Queen' back in 1973
Could you react to: Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
EVERYONE!! Find me someone to LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE xxx FREDDIE A LEGEND
Roger Taylor with his back up vocals, man. All of them are a family of legends.
i really enjoy your reactions.
Whenever possible he kept tea with honey on the piano to soothe his throat. He said he would never drink beer on stage and risk burping into the mic, it would be disrespectful to his audience.
Queen is a pass by far 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The Show Must Go On is one of their greatest songs by far. Next?
Was Freddie on drugs you ask? He was a rockstar during the 70s and 80s lol I think that answers your question. Seriously though, His private parties are notorious. Tony Montana would have trouble keeping up with Freddie.
The parties were over blown and Freddie didn't dabble as much as believed. As many have noted, he would be broke if those rumors were completely true. Freddie was very professional, a work horse and he died a multi millionaire. He wasn't abusing drugs as much as you think!
NewClassicWI he was lol. Just ask people who were with him. It’s totally fine tho
Queen was one of those bands that just kicked ass live.
