This particular instance was because he wanted zero to remove a video he had made about him, because of the ladder’s previous controversies. This resulted in him being harassed by zero’s fanbase and leading to him deleting his twitter.

Onin plays Steve in the traditional way that people think is "optimal". However, Acola straight up has WAY better combo execution than any steve ever, great neutral, amazing advantage state and he knows alot of Steve tech. I dont really see how people thought Onin could possibly be better. Even in the non-traditional way Acola plays, he ALWAYS looks cleaner than any steve including Onin.

I think what makes Acola the best Steve in the world is his adaptability. Every Steve main has the bread and butters, but Acola has those on top of being able to respond to any situation you throw at him. He doesn’t RELY on his character, like I feel many Steve mains do, but rather he UTILIZES his character to full effect. That to me is the sign of a great player

I'm suprised. I always thought that Onin was better in terms of knowing steve tech but it seems accola knows the tech as well. Its really weird that I don't see accola really optimizing his combos like tnt like I saw here.
I may be in the minority but I feel like onin is better maybe not as consistent yet but they do play in different regions, it just seems like onin plays steve in a way that's optimal

i think the only thing onin might have better than acola is optimal block placement in disadvantage and block teching but acola has way faster block placement in advantage which i think matters more

yeah i mean, i called the 3-0 for acola immediately after seeing the length of the video. i've watched a lot of onin's stuff and he's very very good playing steve in terms of just the number of tricks he knows, playing to steve's strengths, but he does kinda just throw things out there a little sloppily. anvil any time the opponent is vaguely below him even if there's a platform in the way, for example, just spam the big punishing moves, eventually something's going to get through.
but acola i feel like has much better reads, generally a better player in terms of all-round skills, so i'm not so surprised to see him take it when it's on level ground like this

Looks like both players are actually pretty well balanced when it comes to steve gameplay, but Acola's fundamentals against steve (DI, reading attack patterns) were just much more clean than Onin's. It seems like Onin doesn't have much experience against high level steve.
This hurt to watch, I know the majority of ppl dont like him but getting bodied like this 😱

Smash Con is the 3rd largest open tournament in ultimate history in terms of entries. And Onin shit on everyone including Leo. That’s more impressive than any single individual tournament Acola has won.

I’m not even a little bit surprised by this. Onin is easily one of the most overrated, carried players in Ultimate. He’s not actually a top player at all.
Even if you don't think he is as skilled as other top players, he is clearly a top level threat. His results are too good for you to reasonably deny it.
@@hatboi124 the Steve mu knowledge is improving every tournament. If onin doesn’t improve his fundamentals instead of relying on Steve cheese he will no longer have anywhere near these results they’re getting worse each tournament
@@Dnap7 Well, when the first tournament results people know you for are all 1st place finishes, yeah of course his results are bound to decline and not be as impressive. Expecting anyone to consistently get first place other than Leo, and Acola in japan, is not realistic. Rise and grind is his only "bad" placing since he started popping off, otherwise all his results are very good. Even then, at Rise and Grind he still at least made top 8.
But, I agree he will need to improve and adapt as people get better at the Steve matchup for sure.

he's using his neutral B (mine) , which changes the tool depending on the surface it is used on:
dirt, sand: shovel
wood: axe
iron: pickaxe
He mined the wall to break it faster and then ran up and f-smashed

@@prod.feltino I mean results-wise Acola has never placed lower than 3rd at every tournament he entered. He also lives in Japan, so he can't go to as many tourneys as Onin can. If he showed up to every major and super major, I can confidently say he will get better results than onin
