Nice job! I was looking for an overview of the Wiim Pro to decide whether I wish to purchase one. I am currently using some Raspberry Pi's and a mini PC that are still quite special with their unique FREE operating systems such as Daphile, Volumio, and Moode Audio. However, the Wiim has other offerings that make it a great alternative and much easier to install and setup!
Great review! Can you connect 2 different devices with 1 wiim or does that require more than one (a pair of Klipsch fives to a Bose portable smart speaker)?
Hey! Im a complete newbie in this hifi world and my question might be stupid, so sorry in advance. Does buying a wiim pro and connecting it via toslink to my nad c356bee's integrated dac make any sense? Do you think it would make a difference comparing to the tv as a source? Btw i believe nad c356bee has a really nice dac if you take in consideration its not an external dac. Thank you in advance.
Just got one today. I like it, I use the ethernet connection to connect it to my router. I use the SPDIF out to my receiver. Really enjoying it. Didnt test the onboard DAC so can't comment on that. Works well with my Samsung Note and Amazon music.
I am a UA-cam music subscriber and I Chromecast at 24 196 high res to my pro. Note also Soundcloud also verry good I have a descent system and with the Wiim pro's EQ and internal DAC the sound is already crisp though I must admit I have bought it as a first step to an external DAC.
Just an update now having used a while… it’s okay. It’s worth the $200, but I’m not going to say it’s as refund as a “real” streamer like the Bluesound Node, or something from a more reputable manufacturer. I’ve had to manually unplug and plug in a few times now because it was not showing up. Twice was after updates. Also if you plan to use the Wiim app to play your network files, it’s not very good. You’re better off to Google cast from another app like Plexamp, but then you loose gapless playback. I primarily use this for my flac library and don’t have experience using tidal or others with it. Also I’d recommend an external dac, so I’m not sure you’re saving money at that point. It works pretty well, but don’t buy into hype it’s a magic product.
I just got mine. I’m overseas. IDK what chrome cast apps are. I did a search and the results were not good. Always trying to sell me gadgets. Can you advise if you don’t mind? It works be for my library in my iphone or Apple Music. Yes. I do you Qobuz,Tidal, Deezer and UA-cam music. Thanks Thanks
I think everyone 🤔 should do the lossless/loussy audio test ... I certainly can't tell the difference at 47 years old. I am adding a streamer like this, and that was a good review. You should of shown what your dac was saying to confirm the 16bit. Enjoy 😉
Thank you for a nice video. You’re the only one I’ve seen so far unboxing and connecting . Keep it up!
is the optical output a digital output so that i can bypass the internal dac of the WiiM?
Looking to get one tomorrow. Was interested in what that teac device is you have.
I enjoyed your video. Your excellent set up instructions will certainly help me.
Thanks for the feedback, best of luck!
At 4:41 you hooked up a ethernet cable. Where did that cable go to on the other end and what is that device? TY
It went to an internet modem
I love how you unbox it and go over it in a natural way. Thank you. Some people do it super fast and it gets hard to follow.
Nice review, thank you!
How would you enable the Wiim to playback in the 24Bit 192kHz format that you selected?

Hey! Yes absolutely, that’s the way to go. You’re bypassing the Wiim DAC and using the one in the NAD instead.
@@ChadBoughton thanks for replying sir! Do you think it would make a difference in quality comparing to my tv being connected to the dac with toslink?
@@sonebombone no, it won’t sound any different as that’s determined by the dac. It will just come down to which is more convenient to use
With optical only to 24 bit 96kHz, coax digital goes to 24 bit 192kHz

Were you able to connect your TV via optical? And does your TV remote control the volume over optical?
how's the wifi connectivity? reliable?
hi, how about the chromecast quality ? Thank
Tile "setup of the Wiim Pro"; 7:15 "I've already set this guy up". Really?
What DAC do you use ?!?!
Is compatible with Amazon Music Hd?
Can you play it using JRiver on PC? Let me know please.

Спасибо. Мало информации о pro, вы практически первый так подробно. А пульт у него есть?
I thought you could play UA-cam music by chromecast?
Good review 🍺

Отличается ли звук от wiim mini?
I’ve never tried the wiim mini, but it should be identical according to what I’ve read.
Спасибо за ответы, возможности прослушивания и прямого сравнения обеих версий у меня нет, возьму mini.
Only Qobuz delivers full resolution

Why would you need one of these if you have a dac with Bluetooth. Youre essentially doing the same thing
Not lossless
WiFi has supposedly/allegedly has better resolution than BT.
The question should be why would you need this one if you already have an iPad hooked up to external DAC.
