I've got two of these Wiim Minis - love 'em! One on a system in the garage workshop, and another on a spare bedroom system. Both connected via toslink to inexpensive (in America anyway) Schiit Modi DACs and into my older 80's-era receivers. Allows you to "modernize" those old receivers to digital and it sounds great! @@saintly_guy I think it greatly improves the sound quality - especially going through that Schiit DAC. I’ve recently replaced the WiiM Mini in my bedroom system with a WiiM Pro, and that thing is even better! Got it during Amazon Prime Day. Either one sounds great - more connection options with the Pro.

I have four Dayton Audio WBA51 Multi-Room Wi-Fi Streamers plus their wireless speaker that work with the the Hi-Fly app as well as the WIIM and Audiocast apps, all at half the cost. Actually they were $42 dollars when I purchased them but the upgraded units now have an ethernet port.
Great review! Totally agree with your assessment of SQ of the Marantz DAC vs. Wiim Mini DAC via aux. I did my own comparison and that was my experience as well. The Sound Stage is slightly better via SPDIF connection to my Onkyo TX8220 receiver. I also have another Wiim Mini in my basement connected to a Sony STR-DH190 receiver. My Sony receiver doesn't have Optical in, only RCA analog inputs so the Wiim is connected via Aux. I had been using the native Bluetooth connection from my receiver to stream (ALAC) from my iPhone, which sounds pretty good. I haven't decided yet if it's worth the expense of buying an external DAC or if I'll just go back to using Bluetooth. Cheers!

@@jimbo4203 I don't think it will sound much better than the Bluetooth on the fosi? They both only use SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. Do you have an iPhone as I think you can use airplay 2 to stream it via WiFi?
The sound is really good but I bought it together with the S.M.S.L. SU 1 dac for 70 euros. Now I use the SPDIF output from the mini into the SU 1 dac. That is so amazing good sound. Its a really great dac. See the reviews on youtube. Its a great set now.
At moment I just use a echo dot through my setup up, tag F3 pre am and 5 channel rotel rb 985 mk2 running pair of monitor audio silver S6 floor speakers, if I got one of these wiims would the sound quality improve?

How is it analog (aux) sound quality?

@@saintly_guy it sounds great for aux than tuner. Aux I always use for music, while tuner i used it for gaming, movies etc.

This wiim mini is great, I've used one for a little while now. Definitely more spacious through the amp's DAC.

You just connect your phone to the wiim via Bluetooth. Once it's connected, you can use the app on your phone and it will play through the Wiim.

@@jimbo4203 If you ever change the amp, look for one with Bluetooth APTX HD or even better LDAC. These are higher resolution codecs.

It should do. The WIIM has a better DAC. I use to use a 4th Gen. To me the WIIM sounds better.

@@q2forever778 The sound quality was ok but ended up selling it. It was fine at first but then it started to get a little glitchy and kept freezing.
