Saw the Bangles back around this tour. Amazing vocals and great players. The fact that they were all also ridiculously gorgeous didn't hurt none, neither. And sorry, but it has to be said.... never the same without Michael Steele.
Ira Franklin Yep, When the Runaways were first formed. Along with Joan Jett & Sandy West. They were the original 3 that made up the band. Rest In Peace Sandy West!
Hope you listened to the Goldstar demos, along with the Whisky gig. Young Micki had it even back then. I love that members of her other bands are now releasing materials featuring here. Toni & The Movers, Yoli Lox & The Bears, Snakefinger, Elton Duck...all this stuff featuring Michael on bass...it's amazing stuff.
@@Taz90 Don't forget Lita and Michael overlapped for a brief moment. There was a second Whisky gig with the both of them in the band. While it sadly wasn't taped, there's pictures.
Ahhhhhh...the early days when they were still having fun :) They were sooo great back then! I was and always will be a Go-Go's fan, but these girls were just so much better musicians and MAN did they know how to rock! Still do too...just miss Michael a whole lot. Vocals aren't the same without her.
Recorded at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh, PA. At the time it was widely regarded as the best sounding venue in the area. It also was the "Birthplace of network television" (according to Wiki), with stations in 13 other cities from Boston to St. Louis "networked" via coaxial cable. So of course it was demolished it (in 1991). I don't why, but I suspect it had structural problems. Now it's a freakin' parking lot. What a shame... Saw a few shows there, but not this one. (At least I have it on VHS.)
I love this!!! These girls are amazing!! Vicky is so sexy.. Michael is so damn cool... Debbie so sweet and Sussana well she looked like a doll :) perfect!! Why músic now is so different??
Vicki... lol... I've long thought this... Vicki seems like a random extroverted party girl who wandered on to the stage and just never got bounced off.
I cruise around every weekend on youtube, and ran across this. I am somewhat amazed these girls did not do better on the popularity scale. Pure rock and roll, love it. Guess it is a male dominated world after all, because elsewhise these would be at the top of the charrts
An absolutely amazing performance, with all 4 girls firing on all cylinders (and with these WOMEN it'd be 8 cylinders for sure. Am I right fellas?). Sue's voice on Walking & especially James even has her later-in-life rasp here! a great voice, and wow - super sexy! Both her voice, her, and all of them!
Notice they don't need auto tune or any tricking . Their harmony is pure and in key period. The Beatle Girls rock. Susanna Hoff is so seductive with the eyes, glances. Yikes. Watch the original 'if she knew what she wants' and melt under her spell.
@@robertepperly989 Vicki is hot in the sense that she's an extroverted party girl. You may be attracted to her as being that extra fun lady at house parties and clubs. And maybe Debbi too. But for just raw stunning, it's Susanna and Michael.
Whew, glad to find another posting of this excellent vid. (I'm from Pittsburgh, been to the Mosque for concerts but not this one sadly). I love the magic trick after 10:28 where it seems like Susanna bamfs her tamborine into a guitar! Bangles sound so awesome in this concert!!!
@Scott Quigley From what I understand, The Bangles were just beginning to "hit their stride" in popularity and fame, as the ROCK band they are in this vid. But the press , along with producers, record executives, and others in the music biz- plus bad management- ALL decided that : 1- They were going to break Susanna away from the group, and make her a solo artist 2- Have the group put out sappy, UN-rock pop tunes like "Manic Monday", and "Eternal Flame" (Vicki was quoted to say "Eternal Flame is a beautiful song, Whitney Houston could have had a hit w/it.....Why are WE doing it?") 3-By this point, the 4 girls were so distracted and upset by the fact that their friendship was dying all because they didn't know how to stand up for themselves and take charge in the first place. Go to "VHS1 "Behind the Music. The Bangles"
Great band. This takes me back. Hey is that Walker Heart in the comments? Man got to be on stage with The Bangles! Miss Michael. September makes me think of this group. September is youth, renewal in spite of the fact that some people a few years ago tried to ruin the month. Guess what? They didn't.
Where can I purchase this quality of the video? I want to watch it on my large TV without having to keep skipping to each video 4 more times in segments.
They were so great in concert. Susanna was so cool here before it went to her head during the Everything era. It's too bad when you think of the possibilities yet they broke up at their peak.
I've never been a big Bangles fan but this does sound better then I had expected from all I had heard back in the day from people who saw them live. Don't care for the mix though, keys too loud and guitars too low, buried in the muddle of sound. Still, give it a B.

This is obviously at the very height, the zenith of Banglemania. The vocals, harmonies, playing and stage presence were all at their best.
amazine
Polished and professional to a tee.
The best girl band ever! They’re real musicians..and gorgeous!
Michael harmony in the background along with Vicki it is priceless I love this group
I would love to have this concert on DVD.
Vicki Peterson - Aphrodite with a Carvin electric guitar, ripped jeans and biker boots.

I wonder how many people she inspired to pick up a bass? I'm definitely one of them.
It just completely blew me away when I found out a couple of years ago that Michael Steele used tho be the original lead singer of The Runaways !!!

最高クラス最高クラス!
Talented, skillful, and beautiful. Great band.

I know. They really should retire "September Gurls" from their set. That's Michael's song.
Wow vicki tears out some kickass riffs micki lays down a great baseline debdie perfectly hitting the skins on her kit🤟🏻😍
Captured at the height of their Bangle powers.

I'm working on a time machine just so I can go see this concert.
Any luck with the machine yet bob? 😀
Some very competent guitar playing happening !
These lady`s are great rock n` rollers . I love listing to them. They should get more great.

Vicky's the hottest. A wonderful human being as well and the backbone of the band
@@robertepperly989 Nope, Debbi is the hottest.

Vicki - She's MY GIRRRRLL !!!!!

BedsitBob Debbi is breathtaking for sure.

What a great band in their prime
I want that Rickenbacker.....
Just found a betamax tape of this! I got to see 30 minutes of MTV leading up to this.

Vicki is a rocker!!!

All four of them . . . sexier than should be legal!
Edd, is there any way to get this on DVD ? Thanks I've really enjoyed watching it. Brings back lots of memeories !
Debbie peterson for me
Debbi always gets to less attention. This is a great pity and also unfairly...she is awesome here at this concert!
Hermosas mujeres🌟💖🌟💖🌟💖🌟💖🌟

Where is the DVD please,
The second song starts at 3:15.It was called "Restless."
3:15
Is there a CD Tape of this? If yes then where can I buy it? Thank you.

this concert is very cool
good work
Ricardo Acatitla restless
Awesome. Any way to get this on DVD ?????
Oh yeah the PAL Version, who doesn't remember the PAL Version? What is the PAL Version by the way?
únicas
saw this Tour at the SF Warfield Theater, vicky thought i was joel selvin
Sadly they tore this building down in 1991
1:05 ............Debbie wore GLOVES? I've seen a few images of Peter Criss (KISS) doing that.
Who else does it?
Some drummers tend to have too much sweat on their hands, it makes the drumsticks slide easily and the gloves are wore to prevent that.
what happen to the group? but love it reason sexy moves.
Susanna Hoffs was my girl
Is there a set list for this Bangles concert?
Where is the Keyboard player
In the back on the right side (stage left).

They ALWAYS drown out Susanna's guitar. It's par for the course, sadly.
One hit wonder.
Um....five-hit wonder, more like.
Manic Monday, Walk Like An Egyptian, Eternal Flame, .....???????
Bryan Taylor....no brain wonder.
