Thanks for this vid, it really helped me out. I wasn't getting the SLI option in the control panel and was scratching my head. I jimmied the wiring a bit and voila there it is. Your point about it not even appearing if incorrectly installed really helped me out. Not seen that advice anywhere else, so many thanks.

Thanks man, the whole process is very self explanatory, but I felt much more confident after seeing how you've done it.
Tried to SLI 2x GTX950. I know they're outdated by most modern standards and so on but I just wanted to try out how's it working in general 😅
Tho only thing giving me concerns is the code 73 that was popping up until I have changed the cards in order and literally rebooted the system after every change made (connected one - reboot, 2d one - reboot, switched off, aadded SLI cable, booted an rebooted after, and finally after 5th reboot win had gone for a self setup for some time then the SLI option appeared in the Nvidia control panel). But now it works. Gaming tests are coming up next 😅

Thanks sooooo much! Finally got the Titan Blacks on SLI!!! Wow. what a difference it makes!
After going through hoops, and reading through a lot of forums, here's what I got to trouble shoot: (if detects 2 GPUS but does not have SLI option on Nvidia control panel)
    1. update drivers. (update bios if needed, or check if device - mobo, supports SLI etc); use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall, and re-install with up to date driver.
    2. rearrange GPU on different PCIe lanes. (1st & 2nd, or 1st & 3rd lane etc)
    3. switch or flip SLI bridge etc.
    4. disable unused, or conflicting devices on Bios, or device manager --> force triggers Windows to detect new device(GPU)/hardware changes.
    5. Nuke Option: reinstall Windows; change Mobo, PSU, or GPU etc. (don't go this route; have patience)
    etc.
There are news that Nvidia does not support SLI anymore. But as of 2022, their drivers still do have SLI options.

Dude, Your vid was very "some what helpful" .. my system for some undetermined reason automatically turned on these setting for me; it was already set up. I just wanted to say thanks because it confirmed I had everything setup correctly. Been on the red team for a long time, but wanted to see what all these high priced green team cards are all about.
if I could make a suggestion, ( it just seems like too many these days get defensive first before evaluating genuine suggestions). Your video road map runs what is called the hillbilly shortcut, ( the long way ). What i mean buy this is, after your intro to confirm what you are providing a tutorial for and you start the step by step by the numbers keep going step by step, and throw all the nice to know items before or after.
You kind of go off track when you think of some thing here and there and if your someone watching and trying to follow, take notes, or play and pause right along; it is kind of like watching an action movie and then you have to wait for a commercial about this, and another one about that .. I think you get it.
Not meant to be a dig or a dis, just figured if your taking your time and effort to provide this content; you just might appreciate the vantage point of a viewer in order to become more effective and improve content going forward, and it was useful, and that is why I took the time to comment as a way of saying thanks.
    Very Respectfully,

Hi as I routinely install GPU in workstations, 1. power off and undo power cable, 2 the easiest and safest way is to tilt the box on the side (motherboard horizontal) so the weight of the card pushes vertically

Outstanding Review... Thank you so much. Buddy. I learned a lot from the video. I really loved how you showed every step with extremely clear explanations and showing us the PCIe (6 pin and 8 pin power VGA connectors) and the SLI "Claw" (bridge) setup with these dual tab video cards.
I do have a few questions please.
    1) During the installation of the video cards... You showed a ribbon cable that could be used for connecting (joining) the two cards... Using either of the two tabs. But in actuality you ended up using that cool metallic Bridge (claw). I wanted to ask you if you had to install the SLI ribbon cable inside that Bridge (Claw) yourself... Or if the video cards provided you two separate parts (one being the standalone SLI ribbon cable, and the other being the Claw). I kind of got the impression that you may have had to install the SLI connection cable inside the "Claw" (Bridge) yourself... Prior to joining the two cards using that Claw.
    2) prior to installing these video cards for the first time, did you by chance first remove any pre-existing older drivers using a popular free utility called UDD (uninstall display driver). I think many people suggest using that UDD tool to make sure older drivers are first removed prior to installing new cards. Then I think when you boot into Windows 10 for the first time... Windows 10 will install some default drivers for your GTX titan cards. But what I am wondering is the following. If Windows 10 tries to install drivers for your cards, the first time you boot up... Then if you go to Nvidia.com and download the latest driver for your cards... Will Windows 10 be smart enough to begin using the updated drivers (without conflicting with the pre-existing Windows 10 installed drivers that Windows installed by default)?
    3) These beautiful GTX titan cards (black edition) that you are installing in this video... Are they the same model as I see people referring to as the 1080Ti or is that a different model?
    4) I noticed you're using an awesome 1200 Watt power supply. But for a 2 card rig like this one... Don't you think that a 750 or 800 Watt PSU would have been sufficient? I am not criticizing your awesome build or expertise here... I am just wondering if from an efficiency and cost savings standpoint... If you could have gotten away with a lower wattage PSU? I personally think you could have... But I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you so very much once again for the time and very awesome kind effort you put into creating this video, for us "newbies" who have never had the luxury and privilege to build or afford such expensive equipment. I'm into this stuff because I hold a computer science degree and love hardware technology (as well as software).
Ps. I am the Developer of a popular Android smartphone Organizer called
EZ Notes - voice notes & lists
I look forward to your kind replies to educate me on my curiosities about computer hardware building.
    Sincerely Yours
    Alexander Madani

It is worth noting: If you install the 2nd GPU later, it is best to do a FRESH install of your graphics drivers. Nvidia will not recognize that your have an SLI compatible 2nd GPU if you installed the drivers with only one GPU installed. You may also run into issues trying to start Nvidia Control Panel as well. Your Display drivers for your monitor may be affected as well and may want to reinstall those too.

    Your Outstanding excellent tutorial..
I love SLI I did it and saw such a difference..
Made me happy buying 2 graphic cards.
    I couldn't afford like $800 + tax...
SO I spent $200 Tax in! buying to Mid - high range cards SLI 'ing them
Wow Best Gaming idea, they pulled as much and sometimes more than the high end 1 GPU
at 40% less cost which was affordable.. and the store got 2 sales instead of one.
    Going back in time !!!
I fell in love with SLI on my HD 5970 2G Video card that thing was sick powerful and smooth 1080p
Gaming loved it so much ! always wanted to run 4 GPU's but way to much POWER needed 1000Watts.
Now I run 2 MSI Gamer GTX 960's OC and let me tell you everything is really nice and smooth!
    Very very pleased .
It runs like a "GTX 980" - and sometimes like a 980Ti in frame rate and power.. Very very happy.,
I tried getting the high end cards but they were not available so I compensated and it was a great choice.

I noticed that one bridge on Amazon said not to install the bridge backwards because the 5v line won't go to the right post. This could have been easily solved by keying the edge connector when it was engineered. Which direction does the flared side of the connector need to face? In toward the heat sink or away from the card?

You need to make sure both graphics cards are similar to enable SLI you could use a Palit GTX 670, Gigabyte 670, not necessary to have both from same manufacturer but model e.g 670,770 they have to be the same in order for SLI to work. You cannot have a GTX 670, 770 together as SLI will not work both have to be either 670 or 770 in order for SLI to work.

Great video! One Question: I can't really make out what goes where in regards to connecting the cards to the power supply? The adapter cables looked like they had PCIE 6 and 8 pin cables that go where? And what's on the other end of that cable and where does THAT go? Thanks!

+Keith Scull sounds like you have a modular PSU. Look to the PCI-E power connects on the Power Supply and run either the 6 or 8pin cables to your card. Some cards require one or the other. If it is a lower end xard, they might not require any additional Powe cables.

Thanks for the video it answered most of my questions. May be a ignorant question but how is the cable to the monitor hooked up. I mean does all video come from one ouput such as the HDMI or Display port? If so how do you know what to hook up to?
    Thanks in advance
    Christopher

+Chris Thompson Your can technically connect to any card, but use the ports from the top card.

I never seat cards side by side... not enough air.. one always overheats. I always double space the cards and get longer SLI cables.
