Using multiple graphics cards with Nvidia SLI looks cool. While it is losing support for gaming day by day, it can still be useful for things like 3D Animation.
@Jaromir Bergmann No idea, but I’m on the same step as you but have 2 different types of gpu, nvidia and amd, so I think im going with DirectX12 which is supposedly gonna let me use both :)

I have a question. I plan on getting a ryzen 3700x and two 1080ti's. Now I understand Id need a cpu with more lanes. But I also plan on getting a x570 board that has pcie gen 4. Would the lack of pcie lanes on my cpu bottle neck some sli preformance? Or would the gen 4 pcie on the x570 board take care of the lack of lanes coming from my cpu?
I won't get sli. Wastes money and causes headaches. I just wasn't sure if i should get a sli compatible motherboard just in case. Thanks for this video. Also Im getting the 2080ti so no need for sli.
I don't think I'd risk SLI again. Unless this new NVLink system doesn't need the games to have SLI profiles made for them. There simply arent enough games with an SLI profile. Does this NVlink need profiles to work with games or can it work automatically on anything? If its like SLI I wouldnt touch it with a bargepole. Colossal waste of money. Lost count of the times I've installed a game only to find SLI doesn't work at all.
I found a second nvidia 8800 GT in 2020 and put it on my 2017 build and I had an old 8800GT my MB was compatible and so where both cards. It did nothing to improve gaming and my MB died after a month of using it. SLI and physics cards are a gimic but I think they may have some specific uses.

you're ignoring the fact of budget gamers. not everyone wants to throw out their old card when they could still use SLI to take advantage of it

AMD took care of that, one 6700xt or 6700 is better than two lower powered cards SLI'ed up. Its just impractical these days.
