Thanks for clarifying the direction of flow within the canister. This helps us place the media in the right order. I have been juggling about by interchanging the trays. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. I agree, that these are good filters with low electric consumption. It is a shame that the company does not give the necessary information of direction of flow,
i did same and that is true bio media are still clean , i just put 1cm plates of 2x20-30-40-60 ppi of foam in 1st basket and 2nd basket starts with floss covered by biomech -that amount not so heavy and floss not squeezed just nicely seated rest baskets are same, i think factory layout is for marketing purposes :D just buy media every year... as stands in manual... buuuut that black tubes may be good as very first pre-filter in classic series but not in this filter bcs prefilter is already filled with coarse 10ppi sponge... - cheers - nice and helpfull nice vid i forgot to mention i am regulary clean it every 2nd month in 180L heavy planted/stocked tank
Good video! In a Eheim classic filter I use Mech at the bottom, then a light layer of filter floss or Fix, then a combination of bio media after that (Flav, SUBSTRATpro, and or Siporax) and lastly filter floss at the top. I worry that foam and floss as your bottom first layer would impede water flow too soon requiring a frequent rinse or complete change of floss. I put my bio media in pantyhose and tie the end. This I have found keeps the bio media cleaner and makes it easier for me to extract the media from my canister. I guess with your Pro model that's not possible.

very interesting, question 1: the basket number 5 with the blue sponge that must be placed under the lid with the pump in the video I do not understand if you have inserted or deleted it. question 2: what thickness is the blue sponge to cut for the lower basket. thanks
Hi there dear Macauley , please tell me , does the efficiency of the filter is anyhow affected if you didn't cut the floss or the foam exactly as the template ? Thank you for the videos , you really did a great job !
How thick is the blue foam? I have found similar in my local store but it's 5cm thick and I don't know if that would fit, also what material is the floss? If you can link me both of that I would appreciate
clean the pump first time after i bough it with a vision 450 aquarium. Now i know i have to pump on that big button on top to get water circulating again... and i noticed i have already the optimation on my pump.
Biomaster doesn’t well in all cabinets, that’s the main reason I’m returned it. You need to pull it out of the cabinet. On Eheim I just take the top basket out not not moving the heavy filter. Biomaster feels much better built specifically the handle is a big plus, but many are complaining about the air bubbles loosing the co2.
@@straighttalkingexotics9367Very informative video? Only the volume needs to be toned up a little. What do you recommend as biomedia which will be convenient for beneficial bacteria?
The hobby seems obsessed with flow, rather than the quality of the ‘cleaning’ that’s happening in the filter. This method doesn’t reduce the flow noticeably, but it would be a small price to pay for the benefits achieved.
Hello Sorin The baskets in the Pro4+ are made more economically than they are in previous models, however I do think the lesser-quality has been exaggerated on other areas of UA-cam. They are still very strong and I see no reason why they would break unless the person maintaining them was exceptionally rough with them; but that can be said about all filters. I hope this helped :)
Everybody should know that the all plastic valve on pro series sucks. Iv replaced that part 2 times cos of bloody jams. It must be greased or this wil likely happen later. Its cogs inside are not the best design.. When this happens you must use deadly force and chew down to its core. and free up the jam. 😂
I would use the sponge basket between the between the bioMECH and substrate pro. The bioMECH works as a coarse sponge and evenly water distribution, not much as a biological media.
THE BIGGEST mistake made with a canister filter is using it as a mechanical filter . IT SHOULD ONLY be used as a biological filter ! ALL mechanical filtering should be mainly done BEFORE the water goes into the canister . THE canister is best at CYCLNG the tank cleaning out ammonia, & nitrites . Used this way it rarely needs ANY servicing. IN FACT it is best to just LEAVE it ALONE to do it's thing. Eheim makes a prefilter intake filter OR YOU CAN use any floss filled corner filter as a prefilter . THIS can be changed weekly taking ONLY three minutes.
this is an excellent video, very helpful as i will be buying a Eheim Pro4+ 600 very soon for my new aquarium.
great love it i was hesitating on doing the same you did i find it work much better the way you show it
Thank you for this video was exactly what I’ve been looking for on how best to do the trays.

U are absolutely brilliant!!!!
Very helpful!! Congrats!!
Hey! Thanks for your explanation. I will use it in my filter. I appreciate.
Excellent

Thanks i Ak going to use the same setup. And Add a eheim prefilter😊
Excellent modifications! That black plastic bio media looks like it belongs in the garbage!

It does

Nicoleta Moldoveanu Thank you for the feedback ☺️ the foam doesn’t have to be perfect, but try and cut it as accurately as you can.
How thick is the blue foam? I have found similar in my local store but it's 5cm thick and I don't know if that would fit, also what material is the floss? If you can link me both of that I would appreciate
hey will this be the same sort of setup for a turtle tank? and do you have any links for the media?
Hi, how thick is your 30 ppi foam please ? 3 or 5 cm ?

Ciao mi dai un aiuto? Tengo anche io lo stesso filtro ma non so come mai la potenza e diminuita e non so come mai
I have heard the trays are a bit problematic to arrange after maintenance. Is it true ?
Not true, the trays are easy to clean slot back into place with no issue. They are very flexible also, so breakages aren’t likely.
Hi mate ! U can be try 2 Sera Siporax & Seachem Matrix & Seachem Purigen ..U will luv it...
Waste of money. I don’t use them.

I think this will reduce the flow. I did it too but not sure if the flow has decreased.

@@straighttalkingexotics9367 that's true. Planning to keep stendker discus so high flow is not good anyways.

Bottom tray course medium then filter floss rest of the tray bio media fine pad on top cloggs your bio media
